Find someone in Los Angeles County jail.

The agency that made the arrest may be different from the agency holding the person now.

  1. Search the official record

    Enter the last and first names, then the middle name and date of birth if known. Complete the reCAPTCHA and submit. Check the spelling if the search returns nothing.

  2. Allow time for a new booking

    LASD says records are unavailable for bookings within the last two hours. Someone may also still be at a city jail or sheriff’s station before entering county custody.

  3. Save the details

    Write down the booked name, booking number and current facility. A screenshot can help you keep the information together.

  4. Check whether this is intake or housing

    IRC handles intake and temporary holding and has no public visiting. Use the facility currently shown in the locator, not the place where the arrest happened.

  5. Call if the record is unclear

    Call LASD custody information at (213) 473-6100 with the name and date of birth. For urgent healthcare concerns involving someone in custody, call the medical command center at (213) 893-5544.

A housing record is not a release promise.

A transfer, court order or another agency’s hold can affect release. Ask LASD or the person’s attorney about the specific booking before making pickup or payment plans.

If nothing appears

Work through these checks before assuming the person is out of custody.

  • Check the legal name and date of birth; try another name spelling the person has used.
  • Allow for the recent-booking delay.
  • Contact the arresting agency if the person may still be in local holding.
  • Call LASD custody information if the location is still unclear.
