Youth are not permitted to visit Supportive Individuals in person — those visits use non-contact rooms and/or the unit mezzanine. Special visits through the assigned Probation Officer; Superintendent / Assistant Superintendent or designee may authorize.
- Valid photo ID with birth date, such as a driver license or state ID.
- Juvenile Hall: Saturdays and Sundays by unit (below). Camp Sweeney clock times are not on that grid.
Contraband and items
- Purses/bags, wallets, keys, and cell phones go in an assigned locker. Do not bring photographs, cards, letters, artwork, gum, cigarettes/vape pens, Apple watches, or smart glasses that can record. No outside food unless pre-approved. WIC 871.5 prohibits controlled substances, firearms, weapons, explosives, tear gas, alcohol.
- Admission is at the supervisor's discretion and may be denied for inappropriate conduct, attire, or intoxication. Loss of privileges may be appealed at Juvenile Facilities Administration (510) 667-4999.
- The Juvenile Facilities page checked 2026-09-12 does not name a family remote-video vendor. Do not open GTL VisitMe, GettingOut, ConnectNetwork, or iCare for a youth.

Who can be held on this campus
Official Juvenile Facilities page (checked 2026-09-12): Juvenile Hall is a 24-hour secure detention facility capable of housing 358 minors awaiting court (WIC § 850). Camp Wilmont Sweeney is a 50-bed minimum-security residential program for adolescent males 15 through 21 ordered by Juvenile Court. Adult booking at Santa Rita Jail is a different system.

Official Juvenile Facilities page (checked 2026-09-12): Alameda County Office of Education operates a fully accredited high school program within Juvenile Hall, The Butler Academy. After diploma or GED, transferable college credits via Merritt College. Camp Sweeney also lists community college access and tutoring.

Official Juvenile Facilities page (checked 2026-09-12): Children's Hospital and Research Center of Oakland operates a 24-hour medical clinic at Juvenile Hall. Behavioral Health Care Services provides crisis intervention, individual therapy, and psychotropic medication monitoring in living units.
Food, clothing, and living quarters are provided. No outside food into visiting unless pre-approved.
