Before you leave home

Three things to confirm before the trip.

All social visits must be scheduled on Online Visitor Registration after you are approved. Confirm the person is at Main Jail — Elmwood is a different campus in Milpitas with different visit length and check-in time.

  1. 01Confirm Main Jail

    Search santaclara-inmatesearch.atimsle.com or call (408) 808-2804.

The roster must show Main Jail. South housing uses the same 150 W. Hedding visitor lobby as North. If the person is at Elmwood, use 701 S. Abel Street, Milpitas. If Juvenile Hall, use 840 Guadalupe Parkway — not this door.

  2. 02Register on OVR

    Create an account at eservices.sccgov.org/OVR.

Official Main Jail page (Wayback 2024-12-08): approval may take up to seven business days; a valid email is required for status. If you have no email, call (408) 808-2804 after seven days. Main Jail and Elmwood share one OVR system — select Elmwood when applying if you need both. Government photo ID required.

  3. 03Arrive at 150 W. Hedding Street

Not 55 W Younger (Sheriff HQ) and not 190-200 W. Hedding (Hall of Justice).

Check in 30 minutes before the scheduled visit. Bring the same government photo ID used to register. Leave phones and extra items in the car or a locker. Call (408) 808-2804 Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. before you drive.

01 / Visiting

Santa Clara County Main Jail Complex (South) visiting hours.

Official Main Jail Complex visiting page (Wayback 2024-12-08): visits scheduled after OVR approval, up to 2 weeks out. Inmates may have two 60-minute visits per week. Up to two adults may visit; each adult receives a 30-minute visit. Check in 30 minutes early. Published visiting times: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday at 8:10 a.m., 9:20 a.m., 10:30 a.m., 2:00 p.m., 3:10 p.m., 4:20 p.m. Saturday and Sunday also 7:00 a.m. plus those slots. Wednesday is not on the published table. Use the live OVR appointment if it differs. Visiting office (408) 808-2804 Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Visits may be cancelled without prior notice for facility emergencies or a housing move. If the inmate search shows Elmwood, do not come here. If you are late, the visit is cancelled. Missing or cancelling a scheduled visit counts as having a visit.

These details are not published.

Ask the jail before setting out. Jail411 will not guess at a rule that could cause a missed visit.

Phone calls

Main Jail phones and tablets OVR visiting is in person.

Official visiting pages (checked 2026-09-12): social visits are in-person through OVR. The Sheriff visiting and commissary HTML checked today does not name the telephone vendor. Social visits are monitored or recorded.

  1. 01Three products

    Deposits vs commissary vs visiting.

TouchPay is money on the books (locator 295110). iCare is commissary/care packs. OVR is in-person visiting. Edovo is education.

  2. 02On-site visit

  3. 03Help

OVR password reset is email to the visiting office — not the jail lobby for app passwords.

Main Jail page: forgotten usernames or passwords by email with full name, date of birth, driver’s license or ID number, AND the date the ID was issued. Call (408) 808-2804 for visiting status, not for TouchPay passwords.

01Bail

Search first, then cash or a licensed bond — Criminal Division is 190-200 W. Hedding

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
