County jail information

Davidson County Sheriff's Office

DCSO's information line operates 24 hours a day. Confirm the current facility before arranging visits or sending money; a jail, courthouse and supervision office are different destinations.

Davidson County jail facilities

The Sheriff operates several separate facilities. Use the current building name and housing assignment—not just an older booking location.

Downtown Detention Center — DDC

Initial intake and processing for Davidson County arrestees, with a medical unit. The current Sheriff notice says family lobby visits are unavailable; eligible units have remote video visits.

Location
200 James Robertson Parkway, Nashville, TN 37201
Phone
(615) 862-8224

Correctional Development Center — Male (CDM)

Minimum-security male facility with education, vocational and treatment programs. This is a different building from the women's facility and MCC.

Location
5113 Harding Place, Nashville, TN 37211
Phone
(615) 862-8187

Correctional Development Center — Female (CDF)

County facility for pretrial and locally sentenced women. The Sheriff identifies it as the former MDF Annex; it is not the state-operated Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center.

5115 Harding Place, Nashville, TN 37211
Phone
(615) 862-8187

Maximum Correctional Center — MCC

Medium/maximum-security male housing. The Sheriff also describes it as housing people formerly held at MDF.

The next family task

Start with the individual facility guide for its rules. These general Jail411 guides explain the process when you need more context.

Visits, communication and deposits

Davidson's county jails and Tennessee's state prisons use different mail destinations and accounts. Confirm the facility and recipient number before sending anything. For example, DCSO uses an OCA number, while TDOC prisons use a TDOC identification number.

Confirm current housing when needed

Use the Sheriff's official database for current county custody, or call the 24-hour information line. Jail411 does not maintain a live booking roster.

Other facilities and programs

State prisons, juvenile detention and treatment alternatives have their own operators and family procedures.

Riverbend Maximum Security Institution

TDOC adult state prison. Its guide includes visiting approval, phone/video services, scanned mail, deposits, and food and lodging for a longer trip.

Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center

Formerly Tennessee Prison for Women. TDOC's female diagnostic institution includes annex and transition functions and a separate approved overnight child-visitation program.

Youth Pre-Trial Housing Facility — Davidson juvenile detention

Juvenile pretrial custody at 100 Woodland Street, Nashville, operated by Rite of Passage. Call the youth facility for family-contact instructions; adult DCSO visiting, phone and deposit rules do not establish this facility's rules.

Behavioral Care Center — BCC

DCSO's licensed short-term residential treatment alternative to jail, with 30 male and 30 female beds. Participation is determined through the program's assessment process; this is not an ordinary jail or a walk-in treatment reservation.

Courts and clerk offices

Check the actual building, department and courtroom on the case notice. There is no single county courthouse address that fits every task.

Justice A. A. Birch Building

General Sessions criminal matters and the Criminal Court Clerk use the Birch Building. The criminal clerk's public counter is Suite 2120. Confirm the day's room and docket before arriving.

Probation, parole and release contacts

Confirm the assigned reporting office. A prison address, Board of Parole office and local supervision office are not interchangeable.

TDOC District 40 — Blanton office

Use your officer's reporting instructions; the public directory does not specify walk-in hours.

Pretrial screening and custody notifications

DCSO's pretrial screening office in DDC booking operates 24 hours a day at (615) 862-7673. Case-management visits are a different destination: Ben West Building, 100 James Robertson Parkway, Suite 102. Confirm the appropriate office first.

For custody/release notifications, Tennessee SAVIN/VINE provides registration and telephone service at 1-888-868-4631. Notification service is not a guaranteed release-time estimate.

Parking and courthouse arrival

Allow time for parking, walking and security. These are courthouse references, not confirmed jail-visitor parking.

Birch Building parking orientation

General Sessions identifies these parking options. Current prices and available spaces are not guaranteed. Check the posted terms and your hearing location; these listings do not establish parking rights at a jail or at 1 Public Square.

Accessibility and screening

Ask the court about accessible entry and required accommodations before the hearing. The sources reviewed did not establish an exact accessible parking-to-courtroom route. Check current security restrictions before bringing bags, electronics or other belongings.

Older names and records under review

An older directory listing is not proof that a facility is operating today. Do not travel to an old address without confirming current housing.

Closed, renamed and unconfirmed listings

The legacy inventory includes Hill Detention Center, Criminal Justice Center, Metro-Davidson County Detention Facility, Offender Re-Entry Center, Charles B. Bass facilities, Gateway to Independence, Woodland Hills Youth Development Center and RRM Nashville. These are not added to the current-jail list merely because an old row exists.

CDF is explicitly identified by the Sheriff as the former MDF Annex, and MCC's page addresses people formerly held at MDF. An RRM administrative listing is not, by itself, a prison or residential reentry building. Individual legacy statuses and any remaining reentry locations still need reconciliation.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
