Use the Sheriff adult jail—not the correctional institution
Spalding County Jail, which the Sheriff also calls the Spalding County Detention Center, is the adult local jail at 401 Justice Boulevard, Griffin, GA 30224. The jail line is 770-467-4286; the Sheriff main line is 770-467-4282. It houses people before and after trial, probationers, City of Griffin arrestees, and people waiting for another jurisdiction.
| Identity | Address | Use this guide? |
|---|---|---|
| Sheriff jail / Detention Center | 401 Justice Boulevard | Yes |
| Spalding County Correctional Institution (SCCI) | 295 Justice Boulevard | No—separate county institution under GDC rules |
| Martha K. Glaze RYDC | 11850 Hastings Bridge Road, Hampton | No—youth custody |
| Spalding–Pike CSO/ISP | 242 O’Dell Road, Suite 2 | No—youth supervision, not housing |
Do not use SCCI’s weekend visiting, Keefe package, Smart Jail Mail, PREA audit or GDC-number instructions for this jail. The two facilities are close but publish different operators, populations, phones and family rules.

Use the live Sheriff roster and plan for booking delay
Open the Sheriff’s Sheriff To Citizen page and choose the inmate search. The Sheriff says it can show people currently in the jail, charges and eligible bond amounts, but warns that updates run at scheduled times. A newly arrested person will not appear until fully booked and the next update cycle runs.
- Search the full booked name; keep date of birth and approximate arrest time ready.
- Record only current fields you can see: custody status, charges, arrest or booking details, bond and any case or warrant identifiers.
- If there is no result, wait through the booking/update cycle, then call 770-467-4286. Ask whether the person is still in intake, released, hospitalized, at SCCI, in youth custody, transferred to another county, GDC, federal custody or ICE.
- Confirm again before mailing, depositing money or arranging pickup. GDC states its county-jail entries do not provide a full information sheet.

Prepare the remote visit
No lobby visit; account, conduct and failure handling.
All family visits are remote; there is no lobby visit
The Sheriff expressly says there is no in-person inmate visitation. Family video visits are conducted over the internet through JailATM while the resident uses a housing-area kiosk or tablet. The jail publishes resident access between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m., but access is still subject to free time, housing operations and discipline.
Create a JailATM account, select Georgia and the Spalding facility, locate the correct resident, and use the calling/video area shown in the account. The local page does not publish a visit length, weekly limit, free allowance, rate, reservation lead time, approval list, attorney-video exception or special-visit process. Confirm those items in the account before paying; JailATM fees and financial disputes go to JailATM.
Sources: Spalding County Sheriff: inmate services · Spalding County Sheriff: video visitation · JailATM: support and video troubleshooting
Dress and camera rules are verified; ID and minor rules are not
Anyone on camera must remain visible and be appropriately dressed. The jail may terminate a session for inappropriate clothing or conduct without a refund. Use a private, quiet place; keep barred people, recording devices and disruptive activity out of view unless JailATM and the jail expressly permit them.
The Sheriff does not publish a local rule for visitor age, children on screen, guardian consent, ID alternatives, background checks, visitor-list approval, protective-order restrictions, long-distance exceptions, disability accommodations or language help. JailATM has a government-ID verification support route, but that does not prove which ID this jail requires. Before including a minor or requesting an exception, call 770-467-4286 and get the rule for that resident’s housing.
Sources: Spalding County Sheriff: video visitation · JailATM: support and video troubleshooting
Test before paying and preserve failed-session evidence
- In JailATM, set the correct account time zone and run My Account → Calling → Video Test.
- Use current Chrome on Windows or Safari on iOS; allow camera and microphone. A computer or laptop is preferred. A headset can reduce feedback.
- For a direct call, choose Calling, Start Video Visitation, state/facility, and the resident’s last name or ID. Availability shown in the account controls.
- To cancel, open My Scheduled Calls and use Cancel; the Sheriff publishes no local cancellation deadline.
- If it fails, note date/time, resident name/ID, browser/device and error. JailATM says caller-side internet, PC or browser problems do not receive credits. Other refund requests are reviewed case by case within 72 hours and, if approved, credited to the account.
Use the dedicated video-assistance form and never enter a full card number. A housing lockdown or resident unavailability is a jail issue; a camera, account, billing or platform failure is a JailATM issue.

Keep communication and money channels separate
Phone, messaging, mail, publications, trust and commissary.
ICSolutions is current; Securus is the former provider
The Sheriff’s current page says the jail changed from Securus to ICSolutions effective May 07, 2025. Phones operate daily from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 p.m.; calls are limited to 15 minutes. Residents receive a PIN and may move resident funds into the phone account. The jail warns that such a transfer cannot be reversed to the inmate account and is returned only to the resident on release.
ICSolutions distinguishes a Prepaid Account tied to one receiving number from a Debit Telephone Account owned by the resident and usable for allowed numbers. Set up online or at 888-506-8407. Do not use conference, three-way or party-line service. If calls stop, add the facility calling number and 888-506-8407 to contacts, ask the carrier to remove robocall blocking, and ask the jail whether the number or resident is restricted. Report inaudible/disconnected calls to ICSolutions for investigation. Unexpired Prepaid balances may be requested back; Debit funds belong to the resident and any release/transfer refund is facility-controlled.

JailATM messages and photo attachments expire after 14 days
JailATM accepts incoming electronic messages and qualifying picture attachments. The resident can view them when kiosks or tablets are available between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m.. The Sheriff says messages and photos are removed after 14 days.
Create the account, match the correct resident, review the displayed charge before sending, and keep the confirmation. The local page does not publish image size, quantity, nudity/content rules, rejection notice, appeal or refund terms. For rejection or billing, use JailATM general support with the resident, facility and transaction details; for a housing restriction, call the jail.

Send one paper letter and expect destruction of the original
Address personal mail exactly:
Resident First and Last Name (no nicknames)401 Justice Blvd.
Griffin, GA 30224
The jail accepts regular letters. Non-privileged mail is opened, screened, scanned for the resident and the original is destroyed. The scan remains viewable for 14 days. Put only a letter in the envelope; the Sheriff rejects printed material such as magazine pages.
Confirm current custody and spelling before mailing. The page does not publish a booking-number requirement, page/envelope limit, return-address rule, language rule, delivery interval or appeal for a rejected letter. Do not enclose cash, checks, stamps, photos or other objects.

Attorney-origin mail is the verified privileged channel
Legal mail must come directly from an attorney or attorney’s office to the resident-name address at 401 Justice Blvd., Griffin, GA 30224. Mail clearly marked from an attorney, court official or government official is treated as privileged and opened only to check for contraband in the resident’s presence.
The jail does not publish sender-verification documents, a separate legal-mail room, page limits, delivery timing, treatment of family-forwarded court papers, certified-mail tracking, rejection notice or appeal. Counsel should call 770-467-4286 before sending time-sensitive material and separately ask the jail/ICSolutions how to register a confidential attorney phone number; ICSolutions says facility verification is required for unmonitored attorney calls.
Sources: Spalding County Sheriff: mail · ICSolutions: account FAQ
Do not mail books, newspapers, photos or packages
The Sheriff says the jail accepts no books, magazines, newspapers or packages. Those items are not opened; they are stamped return to sender and mailed back. The physical-mail rule allows only a letter, so paper photographs should not be enclosed.
Use JailATM only for an electronic photo that meets the platform and jail requirements. Use JailATM gift packs only through the commissary channel described below; do not confuse them with a family-mailed package or SCCI’s separate Keefe package program. The jail publishes no approved outside book seller, property package or medical-device delivery route.

Use JailATM for trust deposits and keep the receipt
Deposit resident funds by cash or debit card at the JailATM kiosk in the jail lobby, or online through JailATM. Select the correct Georgia facility and resident. Money found at booking is receipted into the resident account; cash is contraband in housing. The Sheriff makes JailATM—not the jail—responsible for fees, technical issues and transaction disputes, and states that deposited funds become the resident’s property.
On release the remaining balance is returned to the resident by debit card; on transfer the jail says it transfers money to the receiving facility within 5 working days. Charges may include documented damage, escape response, disturbance costs, a $5.00 replacement ID and a $5.00 medical appointment. The account may be frozen when the balance is $10.00 or less and an outstanding fee is owed. There is a source conflict: the property page says no money is released to anyone during custody, while the account page permits release of all funds only to an authorized bonding agent or attorney of record. Call before relying on either exception.

Order by Wednesday and separate trust from gift packs
Eligible residents without disciplinary sanctions may order commissary weekly through the housing kiosk. The Sheriff publishes limits of $100 for food and $40 for sanitary/hygiene items, with an 11:00 p.m. Wednesday cutoff. Snack-Pack orders have a 10:00 a.m. Tuesday cutoff and Tuesday delivery. Holiday or operational changes are announced to residents.
Friends/family may buy JailATM gift packs; orders are due by midnight Wednesday for Thursday/Friday delivery. Prices vary in the live catalog. Commissary problems go by resident request form to Legacy Commissary staff. A resident with less than $1.00 for 30 days or more may request an indigent care package with hygiene, writing and mailing supplies. Do not assume this supplies medication, clothing or release transportation.

Escalate health and rights concerns
Medical, mental health, grievance, ADA and PREA.
Relay urgent facts; local medication and device rules remain unpublished
The Sheriff confirms outside medical transport and publishes a $5.00 per medical appointment account charge, but does not identify the clinical contractor or publish intake medication, pharmacy, glasses, dentures, mobility-device, pregnancy, records or hospital-notification procedures. The transport team also moves residents to medical appointments and treatment programs.
For an urgent concern, call 770-467-4286 and give the resident’s full name, date of birth if known, symptoms, medication name/dose, last dose, prescriber/pharmacy and your callback number. Ask that the information be relayed to medical staff and document whom you spoke with. Call 911 for immediate life danger and also alert the jail. Do not mail medication. Health staff may receive information from family without being able to disclose details back; federal privacy rules limit family disclosure to what is authorized or directly relevant to involvement in care.

Use the jail for custody care and GCAL for community crisis help
The jail says it transports residents to local mental-health hospitals, but it publishes no mental-health provider, request form, suicide-watch notification, competency service, medication-continuity or family authorization process. Report warning signs directly to 770-467-4286; state the exact behavior or message and ask for an immediate mental-health/welfare check. For immediate danger, call 911 as well.
For a person in the community or after release, the McIntosh Trail Community Service Board serves Spalding County. Its Care Connection is 770-358-5252; Georgia Crisis and Access Line is 800-715-4225. Those services do not replace an in-custody jail request. Privacy limits may prevent the jail or provider from reporting clinical details to family without authorization.

Separate the resident grievance from a public staff complaint
The Sheriff does not publish the resident grievance form, deadlines, emergency/confidential route, response time or appeal. The resident should request the current grievance process through the housing kiosk or staff and keep copies/numbers where allowed. Family should call 770-467-4286 for the correct channel; urgent safety or care is not left only in routine grievance flow.
For alleged employee conduct, Internal Affairs says anyone may call 770-467-4282 or come to the Sheriff’s Office. Give dates, locations, witnesses and requested preservation of video/records. The CALEA portal accepts accreditation comments but expressly is not an investigatory body and promises only acknowledgement; it is not a substitute for Internal Affairs, a resident grievance, PREA reporting, medical escalation or court relief.
Sources: Spalding County Sheriff: Internal Affairs · Spalding County Sheriff: CALEA public portal limits · Spalding County Sheriff: Detention
Request an accommodation before the service is needed
Title II of the ADA applies to local jails and requires reasonable modifications and effective communication. Tell the jail what barrier exists and the accommodation needed—for example an interpreter, accessible communication, mobility access, medication/device continuity or help using remote video. Call 770-467-4286 for detention operations.
Spalding County Human Resources publishes a Title II policy and a combined Title II/VI complaint form at 119 East Solomon Street, Griffin, GA 30223, 770-467-4242. The page does not confirm the jail’s own ADA coordinator, detention request form, language-access contact, appeal deadline or accessible release/visitor curb. Ask both the jail and County HR which route controls; do not wait for a complaint to request an urgent accommodation.
Sources: Spalding County Human Resources: Title II complaint links · U.S. DOJ: ADA and criminal justice · Spalding County Sheriff: Detention
Do not import SCCI’s PREA audit into the Sheriff jail
PREA applies to local confinement facilities, but no Sheriff page reviewed publishes the jail’s PREA coordinator, third-party/anonymous reporting number, outside reporting entity, advocate, investigation notice or current jail audit. SCCI’s 2025 PREA audit belongs to the separate facility at 295 Justice Boulevard and is not evidence of this jail’s route.
For immediate danger call 911 and the jail at 770-467-4286. For a non-immediate report, ask the jail for the Spalding County Jail PREA coordinator and third-party reporting channel; state that the report concerns the Sheriff jail at 401 Justice Boulevard. Preserve dates, names and requested medical/evidence protection without confronting an alleged perpetrator. This packet does not invent an outside hotline.

Track court, counsel, bond and release
Cases, defense, property, holds, services and records.
Match the charge to the court before calling
Sheriff To Citizen may display charges and eligible bond amounts, but the court record controls case scheduling and orders. Save the exact charge, arresting agency, case/warrant number and named court. Spalding Magistrate Court’s criminal division is at 132 East Solomon Street, 770-467-4320; it handles initial criminal matters. Superior/State Court records are managed by the Clerk at the same courthouse, 770-467-4746.
Georgia Courts warns that online e-access redirects to a provider and may require an account. A jail roster is not a complete docket, and a court docket is not live custody. Ask the clerk about the next hearing and filed orders; ask the jail about transportation, holds and release processing.
Sources: Spalding County Sheriff: Sheriff To Citizen · Spalding County Magistrate Court · Georgia Superior Court Clerks: Spalding · Georgia Courts: e-access to court records
Use the correct defender for felony or State Court
The Georgia Public Defender Council lists the Griffin Circuit Spalding office at 141 W. Solomon Street, Griffin, GA 30224, 770-467-4725, for circuit representation. Ask how the detained person applies, whether counsel is assigned and how family can deliver non-privileged background information.
The county Solicitor page separately identifies The Jewkes Firm, LLC, 435 South Hill Street, 678-688-8296, as the Spalding State Court public defender. Confirm which court filed the charge before choosing. Family should not use personal mail for confidential legal strategy; counsel should verify privileged mail and confidential ICSolutions registration with the jail.

Confirm every charge and tender method before obtaining funds
If bond is not already set on a Magistrate, State or Superior Court charge, the Sheriff says the person must see a judge; if a magistrate cannot set it, a bond hearing is scheduled. The jail accepts cash-in-lieu, qualifying property or an approved professional bonding company. The posted $20.00 fee per bond must be a separate money order.
For Spalding property, bring photo ID, deed and current tax statement; equity and Sheriff approval are required. For out-of-county Georgia property, obtain a sealed bond from that county’s sheriff and deliver it within one day of its date; Spalding says it adds no fee for that route, though the originating county may. Cash-in-lieu requires the full bond and fees by money order or certified cashier’s check payable to Spalding County Sheriff’s Office, with a separate instrument for the fee. Before purchasing anything, call 770-467-4286 for all charges, holds, payee, exact amount, accepted instrument, ID and delivery hours. The Sheriff lists approved companies but does not endorse one.

Act within 10 days for clothing and bring picture ID
At booking, the resident designates someone to collect clothing. That person has 10 days from booking and must show valid picture ID. Clothing includes shoes, coats, belts and caps; after 10 days it may be donated or discarded. Call before travel for the property clerk’s hours and authorization status.
Phones, keys, wallets and jewelry stay in Property for return at release. After release, the person has 30 days to collect additional property. The jail says the releasing person may call someone to bring clothes. It does not publish the pickup entrance, bag/vehicle rules, alternate authorization, deceased/incapacitated process or appeal for disposed property.
Sources: Spalding County Sheriff: property
Build a pickup plan around unknown timing
Release time is not published and can follow court paperwork, bond verification, other-agency holds, transport return and account/property processing. Confirm current custody and every hold with the jail; a posted bond does not itself prove the person is cleared to leave. Ask which exterior door, safe waiting point and accessible curb will be used, especially after hours.
The resident should receive retained property and an account-balance debit card; a transfer balance is sent within 5 working days. Ask about needed clothing, medications/prescriptions, identification, phone access and transit before arrival. The ICSolutions page says Prepaid refunds belong to the account owner, while Debit refunds after transfer/release are discretionary; the jail separately says resident-funded phone money returns on release. Keep these account types separate.

Start concrete services; do not promise jail enrollment
The Sheriff pages reviewed do not publish jail education, treatment, chaplaincy, discharge-planning or prerelease eligibility. Ask the resident to submit an inmate request for current programs and release planning. Legacy’s indigent care package is hygiene/writing support, not a reentry program.
After release, WorkSource Three Rivers and the Georgia DOL Griffin Career Center can address job search/training; verify the current service site before travel. McIntosh Trail CSB handles public mental-health and substance-use access. Georgia Gateway is the official portal for SNAP, Medicaid and other eligibility programs. These programs assess eligibility and capacity; none guarantees housing, benefits, treatment or a job. Begin ID, medication, court-date, supervision, phone and transportation planning before release where possible.

Request the record from the agency that created it
| Record | Start with |

| City police arrest report | Arresting agency, not automatically the jail |
Ask for the specific date range, record type, names and case/incident number. Do not send protected medical or financial information through an unsecured general form. The Sheriff does not publish a jail-specific medical release, retention schedule or grievance/PREA-record route; request those from the responsible unit.

Reach the correct campus safely
Entrance, parking, demand-response dates and local contacts.
Use 401 Justice Boulevard and verify the public entrance
Use 401 Justice Boulevard, Griffin, GA 30224 for the Sheriff jail. Do not stop at SCCI, 295 Justice Boulevard. There is no in-person family visitation, so travel is generally for bond, approved property pickup, lobby JailATM or release pickup—not a visit.
The Sheriff confirms a JailATM kiosk in the jail lobby, but publishes no visitor lot, entrance name, accessible space/path, overflow/towing rule, rideshare curb or after-hours release point. Call 770-467-4286 immediately before departure and ask which entrance and parking area serve the specific task. Do not infer parking from the nearby correctional institution or courthouse.

Three Rivers is demand response, not a fixed jail route
Three Rivers Transit serves Spalding County by curb-to-curb demand response: there are no fixed routes, stops or set pickup times. Service is Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., last pickup 4:30 p.m., with a published $2.00 one-way fare. Call 855-407-7433; trips require at least 24 hours’ notice and next-day requests must be in by noon. Space is limited and not guaranteed. Vehicles are wheelchair accessible and Georgia Relay is 711.

Finding someone held here
Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Spalding County Sheriff’s Office.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.
Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.
Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?
No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.
Does posting bond mean the person comes home?
Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.
What should I confirm before visiting?
The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.
What if I find something that needs correcting?
Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
