Fulton County Jail / Rice Street
Confirm the person’s current building and whether Fulton County or the City of Atlanta holds the case before booking a visit, sending mail or paying. This guide keeps those systems separate and identifies the public-policy conflicts that can change a family’s next step.

Adult Fulton County custody at Rice Street, Marietta and South Annex, with a separately labeled City of Atlanta ACDC branch. County orientation belongs on the county page; North Annex, juvenile, state and federal facilities are excluded.
- Locate
Match identity, SO/booking number, current building and custodian.
- Choose the branch
Use Fulton rules or the separately labeled City of Atlanta rules.
- Confirm the appointment
Check housing, visit format, ID and the exact arrival destination.
- Plan the next step
Keep receipts, clinical concerns, court dates and release arrangements together.
Locate the person and choose the right rules
Identity, locations and agency boundaries.
Find the person and identify the agency
Start with the person’s full legal name, date of birth, possible booking name and arrest date. Atlanta arrests can lead to Fulton, DeKalb, Clayton or the city detention center; the arresting agency and current custodian may differ.
- Open the Fulton Sheriff’s live inmate search. Match identity carefully. Retain the SO/booking number, displayed housing, booking date, charges, bond information and court information. A booking record is an allegation, not a conviction.
- If there is no result, retry the name without a hyphen or middle name and check the arrest date. A recent booking, transfer, release or different jurisdiction can explain a missing result; it does not establish that the person is free.
- Call Fulton intake at 404-613-2000 with the identifying details. Ask: “Which agency holds the person, which building and housing unit, and what identifier must I use for visits, mail and deposits?” The search endpoint produced a redirect error during this review; use the Sheriff’s home-page Inmate Search link or phone if it fails.
- For an Atlanta municipal booking, call 404-865-8010 for recent arrest information or 404-865-8000 for city custody. If told the person moved, obtain the receiving agency and transfer date before paying or traveling.
For custody-change notifications, the Sheriff lists Georgia VINE at 877-994-8463 and VINELink. Confirm the physical pickup point separately; a notification is not a travel appointment.

Buildings, names and policy boundaries
| Location | Address / contact | What the distinction means |
|---|---|---|
| Main Jail / Rice Street | 901 Rice St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 404-613-2000 | Fulton intake and jail. A court, transfer or release can change the destination after booking. |
| Marietta Annex | 781 Marietta Blvd NW, Atlanta, GA 30318 404-613-2149 | A separate Fulton annex in Atlanta. It is not the Alpharetta North Annex. |
| South Annex / Union City | 6500 Watson St, Union City, GA 30291 404-613-6637 | The directory’s South Fulton Municipal Regional Jail address corresponds to this Fulton location. Sheriff releases establish activity in 2025; do not treat the temporary 2022 closure as current. Its current ordinary visiting schedule was not verified. |
| Atlanta City Detention Center (ACDC) | 254 Peachtree St SW, Atlanta, GA 30303 City custody: 404-865-8000 Administration: 404-865-8001 | Both city and Fulton detainees have been housed here. Ask which agency’s rules govern the person. City rules below apply to City of Atlanta detainees only. |
| North Annex / Alpharetta | 2565 Old Milton Pkwy, Alpharetta, GA 30004 | The county announced closure in 2020. This review found no authoritative reopening notice; current Sheriff contacts omit it. Do not travel here or apply Marietta policies to this listing. |
The 2026-09-25 ACDC announcement describes a proposed transfer requiring legislative approvals. The proposed city-retained floor would serve municipal detainees. It does not prove a completed sale or a common visiting, mail or payment policy. Juvenile detention, Georgia state prisons and federal detention have separate operators and are outside this adult guide.

Plan a visit that matches the housing
Schedules, entry preparation, city exceptions and video.
Fulton visits: virtual format and published schedules
Ordinary Fulton family visits are virtual. The Sheriff’s December 2025 South Annex release describes a selected holiday in-person event as an exception. “Onsite” video means using a terminal at the approved visiting location; it does not promise meeting the person face to face. Verify the terminal address in the appointment, particularly after a housing transfer.
| Day | Housing listed by the county |
|---|---|
| Monday | 7 North / 7 South |
| Tuesday | 6 North / 6 South |
| Wednesday | 5 North / 5 South |
| Thursday | 4 North / 4 South; 6 North Zone 600 |
| Friday | 1 North; 2 North; 3 North / 3 South (Medical, Marietta Annex) |
The male page allows 2 video visits of 30 minutes on the assigned day. The female page lists video Monday–Friday, no weekend visits, scheduling at least 24 hours ahead, and windows 9:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 4:00 p.m.–8:25 p.m. Its last time is a scheduling cutoff, not permission to arrive without a reservation.
Why the female page needs confirmation
That page also describes Thursday onsite visits, one per week, eligibility after 7–14 days and an approved visitor list, but contains “once visits are allowed again” language and an old plexiglass description. These conflict with the later virtual-only statement. Do not buy travel based on a promised Thursday face-to-face visit. Use the live ICSolutions facility schedule; South Annex and Fulton housing at ACDC need their own confirmed appointment. The Sheriff says visitation information is not supplied by phone or email.

Fulton check-in, ID, children and belongings
- Have a confirmed appointment and arrive 15 minutes early. County pages say arrival more than 10 minutes late results in denial. Keep the confirmation outside your phone because electronics cannot enter the jail.
- Bring valid photo identification: the county names a state driver’s license, state ID or passport. A passport is a published alternative to a driver’s license. Expired, temporary, foreign/consular identification and name mismatches were not resolved in current public rules; request an approval decision before travel.
- The female page requires an approved list and limits the group to 5 adults and children combined. Children 17 or younger need an accompanying adult; visitors 17 or older must present ID, so a 17-year-old needs both. Do not apply this capacity rule to unconfirmed annex/video sessions. Nonparent guardian documents, birth certificates, infant counting, bottles, diapers and stroller exceptions were not specified; use provider/facility approval before bringing a child.
- Wear opaque, loose, intact clothing; sleeves; knee-length or longer bottoms; and secure closed shoes. The Sheriff prohibits revealing/tight/ripped clothing, sagging, sleepwear, offensive graphics, sunglasses and head coverings; outerwear must be removed and underwear must not show. Ask the disability liaison about medically necessary items or a religious accommodation before arrival.
- Leave phones, recording watches, tablets, cameras, purses and other prohibited belongings in secure storage. A Rice Street public locker was not verified; do not arrive relying on one.
For the county’s published long-distance courtesy, both visiting pages describe one visit per year without an appointment for a visitor living beyond 50 miles, with a driver’s license and utility bill showing the same address. Obtain confirmation that the exception applies to the current building and format before travel; it is not guaranteed admission. Accommodation contact: 404-612-9166, relay 711.

ACDC: visits for City of Atlanta detainees
This municipal branch does not establish the rules for Fulton detainees housed at ACDC. The city’s May 2026 article provides the following process:
- The person must have been held at least 48 hours and must not have court or a transfer pending. Visits are Wednesday and Saturday, limited to 30 minutes.
- The detained person enters each visitor’s name and visit time on the housing-pod registry the day before and tells the visitor the reservation. Confirm that this happened before leaving home.
- Bring certified photo ID and arrive at least 15 minutes early. Anyone under 17 must accompany an adult with proper ID; every child must remain with an adult throughout the visit.
- Out-of-town visits need supervisor approval before the visit date. The city specifies photo ID from another county at least 100 miles away or another state. Contact the Facility Commander at 404-865-8020.
- Personal belongings cannot enter the visiting area. The city lists a public locker costing $0.50, paid with 2 quarters.
The article does not publish a daily start/end time, weekly visit allowance, visitor capacity, acceptable infant supplies, nonparent guardian documents or a separate city remote-video schedule. Before traveling with children or needing an ID/accommodation exception, obtain these answers from the Facility Commander. City administration is 404-865-8001 or 404-865-8010, Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. County attire rules should not be presented as a verified city dress code.

Set up video and handle a failed appointment
- Create or sign into the ICSolutions account. Registration is free. Select Video Visitation and the exact facility shown in the current custody record; names in a provider menu are not proof of present housing.
- Follow the facility approval prompts and select an available session. Record the confirmation, date, time zone, device requirements and price. County female scheduling requires at least 24 hours; do not assume every annex has the same window. The Sheriff lists home video at $0.25 per minute.
- The provider’s Fulton instructions offer Windows software and the ICS Mobile app for Android/iOS. Install the required application and test camera, microphone, permissions and connection in advance. Use a charged device, quiet private space and stable internet. Do not assume an unsupported browser or Mac will work.
- Log in before the start and keep the booking identifier available. Ordinary sessions are monitored and recorded. A relative cannot create a confidential attorney session by labeling it legal.
- If you must cancel, use the appointment controls promptly and retain the confirmation; if no control appears, contact video support at 888-646-9437. No current Fulton-specific cancellation cutoff or automatic refund was found. The scheduling lead time is not a cancellation/refund deadline.
- For a failed session, save appointment ID, charged amount, time and error message; report it to video support and ask whether rescheduling or a billing review is possible. The Fulton provider page states that offsite internet connectivity problems are not refunded. Do not repeatedly buy another slot before the issue is identified.
Provider-page conflict
ICSolutions still displays rollout wording saying nonlegal visits have not begun, while the Sheriff explicitly offers family video and announces the May 2024 provider switch. Treat that text as an unresolved stale-page conflict, not proof that every family visit is suspended. Availability and the facility-specific confirmation control the next step.

Stay connected and send funds correctly
Separate phone, mail and trust systems.
Choose the right account before paying
| Purpose | Fulton branch | City of Atlanta detainee at ACDC |
|---|---|---|
| Commissary / trust | Smart Deposit; identify by SO number. Separate from a family phone account. | Access Corrections / Inmate Deposits; booking number required. |
| Receive calls at your number | ICSolutions prepaid account for one designated telephone number. | City also directs families to ICSolutions for direct calls. |
| Person chooses numbers to call | ICSolutions debit purchased through the person’s commissary account, subject to blocks. | City describes outgoing calls using funds in the inmate account. Confirm the exact product before depositing. |
| Video | ICSolutions facility-specific registration and schedule. | Do not assume the county remote schedule applies to the municipal branch. |
| Tablet messages / photos | Sheriff directs families to GettingOut; add or accept the person as a contact. Published charge: $0.25 per message. | A matching city tablet-messaging rule was not verified. |
Before checkout, read back the agency, facility, person’s identifier, product and total fee. Save the receipt and support number. Money sent to a trust account does not automatically fund your prepaid calls, and a message balance should not be assumed usable for bail. For GettingOut, use the live service after matching the facility and contact.

Phone setup, dropped calls and refunds
ICSolutions customer service is 888-506-8407, available 24 hours. Have your name, address, receiving number, facility and the person’s name/identifier ready. Online/card funding and mailed money orders or cashier’s checks are different payment paths; provider mail goes to ICSolutions, Attn: Customer Service, 2200 Danbury Street, San Antonio, TX 78217, not the jail trust address. Western Union supports prepaid accounts; the provider says it does not support debit accounts.
- If a call will not connect, verify your designated number and available balance, ask about provider/facility blocks and check your carrier’s spam filtering. The jail’s main office cannot transfer an incoming family call directly to the person.
- Avoid three-way calling, call forwarding, call waiting and unnecessary keypad presses; these can interrupt service. Record the time and number involved in dropped or inaudible calls and request investigation from ICSolutions.
- Before release or transfer, identify who owns the balance. Unexpired prepaid balances may be requested back when closing the account; ICSolutions generally expires prepaid service after 6 months without a purchase, subject to applicable law. Debit belongs to the detained person and cannot be refunded to the depositor; the person must request any release/transfer refund under facility rules.
For Fulton voicemail, the Sheriff lists 404-678-6120 at $0.25 per message, requiring a funded prepaid account, your PIN and the person’s inmate ID. Ordinary calls, messages and visits are recorded/monitored; attorneys need separate registered confidential access.

Fulton mail: digital personal mail and physical legal mail
The Sheriff routes personal letters, pictures and drawings to a scanning address for delivery through the free Facility Messages tablet profile. Use the exact facility label and inmate identifier:
| Confirmed housing | Write these lines |
|---|---|
| Rice Street | Fulton County Jail, GA [Full name], #[Inmate Identifier] P.O. Box 247 Phoenix, MD 21131 |
| Marietta Annex | Fulton Marietta Annex, GA [Full name], #[Inmate Identifier] P.O. Box 247 Phoenix, MD 21131 |
| Union City / South Annex | Fulton Union City Jail, GA [Full name], #[Inmate Identifier] P.O. Box 247 Phoenix, MD 21131 |
Legal mail stays at the physical facility. Attorneys should confirm its current legal-mail labeling and delivery process with the receiving building. The Sheriff’s notice does not supply an ACDC-specific Fulton scanning label; confirm the correct routing before sending county detainee mail there. Do not substitute the city mail address based only on the building.
The public notice does not establish photo size/count, scan turnaround, original-item retention/return, rejected-mail notice or appeal deadlines. Keep copies and avoid irreplaceable originals; ask the receiving mailroom through 404-613-2000, 404-613-2149 or 404-613-6637 for those exact questions. The broad mail notice mentions checks, but the trust instructions specifically permit only USPS money orders: use the money section for payment rules.

Books, publications and packages by custody branch
| Branch | What is established | Before ordering |
|---|---|---|
| Fulton | The Sheriff lists housing-unit library service and purchasable newspaper/magazine subscriptions. | A current family-book vendor rule, paperback quantity, approved package service and rejection appeal were not verified. Ask the actual facility mailroom before buying. Do not send medicine, cash or a care package to the scanning PO box. |
| City of Atlanta detainee at ACDC | Letters, family photographs, postcards, greeting cards and publications go to the physical city jail. Magazine subscriptions and paperback books must come directly from a publisher or bookstore. Hardcover books and materials with nudity, sexually graphic content or bomb-making instructions are prohibited. | The city article initially mentions “packages” but later treats everything outside its listed mail categories as contraband, subject to return or destruction. Do not interpret that first sentence as authorization for a care package. Ask city custody at 404-865-8000 before ordering. |
For municipal mail, put your full return name/address on the envelope and address it:
Atlanta City Detention Center
[Full name, booking number, housing location if known]
254 Peachtree Street SW
Atlanta, GA 30303. The city prohibits mailed money orders and wire transfers. Its public article does not define a special legal-mail procedure, photo limits or rejection appeal; counsel or the sender should resolve those details before mailing sensitive material.

Fulton trust deposits and remaining funds
| Method | Instructions / published cost |
|---|---|
| Rice Street lobby kiosk | Use name/booking ID and facility. The page has general card language but its specific status says cash only; cards temporarily unavailable. $4 cash fee; no $1 bills or change. |
| Online | Smart Deposit; SO number needed; fees start at $2.95. |
| Telephone | 866-394-0490; SO number needed; fees start at $4. |
| USPS money order only, payable to the person; include cell location and SO number. Mark envelope INMATE ACCOUNTING. Send to Fulton County Jail, 901 Rice Street NW, Atlanta, GA 30318. |
Published limits: minimum $5, maximum $200; weekly maximum $200 per inmate or cardholder and no more than 5 transactions weekly per inmate or cardholder. Confirm the total fee before approval. These county methods are not the city ACDC deposit system.
Commissary is generally offered weekly by housing unit. No current public rule was found specifying indigent eligibility, starter hygiene/writing supplies, deductions, a family-requested trust reversal or how the remaining trust balance is returned at release. The detained person should request the current indigent-supply and release-account instructions from housing staff; families can ask Inmate Accounting through 404-613-2000. Keep the receipt and ask where a balance goes if the person transfers before spending it.

ACDC municipal deposits and phone funding
For a City of Atlanta detainee, the city requires the booking number and offers deposits 24 hours, every day:
- Lobby kiosk at 254 Peachtree St SW: Visa/Mastercard credit or debit, or cash except $1 bills and coins.
- Telephone: 866-345-1884; a service fee applies.
- Online: Inmate Deposits; a service fee applies. The city phone article also links Access Corrections.
- No mailed money orders or wire transfers for this trust account. The different city rules for paying bail do not authorize mailing a trust money order.
For your direct-call receiving account, the city directs you to ICSolutions at 888-506-8407. Verify product and balance before paying. The city pages do not publish a trust maximum, indigent eligibility, refund timeline or release-balance method; ask 404-865-8000 with the booking number. These municipal deposit rules must not be assumed to cover a Fulton detainee simply housed in the same building.

Get there and plan the return
Parking, current transit, accessibility and practical services.
Drive to the appointment entrance and plan parking
Use the building and entrance printed on the appointment. Rice Street, Marietta Annex, Union City and ACDC are different destinations; a Sheriff administrative address or courthouse is not a substitute. Neither Rice Street nor South Annex public sources establish a visitor-lot name, ordinary-family parking permission, rate, validation or accessible drop-off position. A published media parking arrangement is not family parking permission.
| Destination | Practical plan |
|---|---|
| Rice Street / Marietta | Confirm the visitor entrance, legal visitor parking and drop-off point with the current appointment/facility. Rice Street: 404-613-2000; Marietta: 404-613-2149. Do not park in marked staff, emergency or media spaces. Leave extra time to secure prohibited belongings before check-in. |
| South Annex | Use 6500 Watson St, Union City only after confirming the appointment destination. Call 404-613-6637 for the public entrance, visitor parking and accessible approach. No published family parking rate or lot guarantee was verified. |
| ACDC downtown | LAZ South Downtown Maple Lot, 140 Ted Turner Dr SW, Atlanta, GA 30303; 404-688-3481. Operator lists 24/7 outdoor self-parking, cards and accessible parking. Price is live; no jail validation was verified. The operator URL retains “140-spring-street,” but the displayed address is Ted Turner Drive. |
For the downtown lot, check the walking route to 254 Peachtree St SW and confirm the public jail entrance before parking; accessible spaces at the lot do not establish an accessible path into the jail. Keep enough time for crossings, screening and the required early check-in. For a release pickup, ask staff for the actual release door and where a driver may wait legally.

Current MARTA routes and the last part of the trip
| Destination | Verified operator route / station | Final-leg planning |
|---|---|---|
| Fulton County Jail area | MARTA Route 52 connects Bankhead station and Moores Mill Shopping Center via Marietta Boulevard, Carroll Drive, Marietta Road and Bolton Road. The operator profile explicitly lists Fulton County Jail. Published frequency: 60 minutes, weekdays and weekends. | Ride from Bankhead toward the jail corridor. Before boarding, ask MARTA/the driver for the current jail-serving stop and the safe walk to the appointment entrance. The reviewed operator text did not identify a current stop ID or prove a step-free final sidewalk route. |
| ACDC | Garnett station, 225 Peachtree St SW, serves the Red/Gold rail corridor near the jail at 254 Peachtree St SW. | Confirm the station exit, elevator status and public jail door. Garnett is not a park-and-ride solution. Allow time to cross streets and complete security. |
| South Annex / Union City | The reviewed current operator material did not establish a reliable route/stop and final walk to 6500 Watson St. | Call MARTA trip planning at 404-848-5000 with that exact address, travel day, arrival deadline and accessibility needs before committing to a bus trip. Do not reuse an old Route 89/180/181 itinerary without confirmation. |
MARTA changed its bus network on 2026-04-18. Old advice that simply says “Route 26 to the jail” can mislead: the current Route 26 profile describes James Jackson/Perry. For Rice Street, consult the current Route 52 timetable and plan around an hourly bus, including the return trip. General trip information: 404-848-5000; the timetable lists accessible-format/language assistance at 404-848-4037 and TTY 404-848-5665. A regular fare is listed as $2.50; check the live fare and payment method before boarding.

Arrange disability and language assistance before travel
For Fulton county visits, contact the disability liaison at 404-612-9166; use 711 relay if needed. Describe the practical barrier: wheelchair route, standing tolerance, hearing/vision access, interpreter need, medically necessary items, or assistance operating the video terminal. Ask who will confirm the arrangement and whether it changes the check-in entrance or time. The county publishes the liaison; this review did not verify a guaranteed inventory of accessible terminals or assistive devices at each annex.
For a City of Atlanta detainee at ACDC, start with the Facility Commander at 404-865-8020; administration is 404-865-8001. Ask separately about the jail entrance and the visit itself. Confirm medication, mobility aids and infant items before bringing them through security. A public transit or parking accessibility label does not verify the entire route into detention. If an accommodation is refused, record the request, response and date, and use the correct agency’s complaint route below.

Food, lodging and a place to wait
| Service | Address and contact | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Waffle House #2166 | 1099 Northside Dr, Atlanta, GA 30318 404-823-8358 | The operator lists 24-hour opening. An option in the broader Rice Street area; do not assume a short accessible walk or permission to bring food into the jail. |
| Hampton Inn Atlanta Georgia Tech Downtown | 244 North Ave NW, Atlanta, GA 30313 404-881-0881 | Operator lists check-in 3:00 p.m., checkout noon, breakfast, Wi-Fi and cribs. Published valet parking is $30; no self-parking or airport shuttle. Ask about accessible rooms, cancellation, incidental deposit, current parking price and transport to the actual jail. |
No room availability or nightly rate is promised here. A late release can occur after transit or a booked room’s check-in arrangements change; coordinate a flexible pickup and a backup contact. Keep identification, charging access and travel funds outside the property you may be required to store. Neither listed business is a jail-approved waiting service or a guaranteed option for a released person.

Raise a health or safety concern
Clinical reporting, grievances and oversight.
Report health concerns, medications and urgent risk
The county approved NaphCare’s 2026 medical/mental-health renewal for Fulton County Jail, Marietta Annex and South Fulton Municipal Regional Jail. The contract identifies the provider; it does not supply a family patient-information number.
The Sheriff describes continuous medical coverage, emergency dental care and prescribed medication, but the public instructions do not provide a dedicated Fulton family clinical line, medication-delivery desk or eyeglass replacement procedure. Do not send medications to personal-mail scanning or bring them for handoff without clinical approval.
- For immediate risk inside the jail, call the current facility and clearly ask for the shift supervisor and medical/mental-health team: Rice Street 404-613-2000, Marietta 404-613-2149, South Annex 404-613-6637, city ACDC 404-865-8000. Say that you are reporting an urgent safety concern, not requesting a routine update. An immediate emergency outside the jail belongs with 911.
- Give full name, date of birth, SO/booking number, housing if known, time of last contact, exact symptoms or statements, medication names/doses, last dose, allergies, prescriber and pharmacy. For suicide risk, repeat the actual concerning words and when you heard them; do not wait for the person’s next scheduled call.
- Ask where clinical staff accept a written summary and how to confirm receipt. Ask specifically whether prescriptions, inhalers, hearing aids or replacement glasses need a prescription, approved delivery or staff ordering. Retain names, times and a copy of what you supplied.
- Ask the person and clinical team about an authorization to share medical information with the named family contact. Staff may receive your observations without being able to disclose private clinical details. Do not post diagnoses or records in public complaints or ordinary tablet messages.
If the jail cannot identify its clinical contact, NaphCare’s general office is 800-834-2420 or 205-536-8400; ask for the appropriate facility channel. This is a corporate directory, not a verified emergency or patient-update line. ACDC city and Fulton housing need their own confirmed clinical routing. Public sources do not establish current medical copay amounts, waiver rules or discharge-medication quantities; request the person’s actual care/discharge plan.

Grievances, sexual abuse reporting and oversight
| Concern | Contact / next step |
|---|---|
| Fulton sexual abuse or harassment (PREA) | Family, third parties and former detainees may report, including anonymously. PREA Coordinator: 404-613-2251; write to Fulton County Jail, 901 Rice St NW, Atlanta, GA 30318, attention PREA Coordinator / Chief Jailer. Include person/accused names if known, SO number, place, date/time, witnesses and what happened. |
| Fulton criminal investigation | Sheriff jail/criminal investigations: 404-613-2262. For immediate danger also notify the current shift supervisor; a mailed complaint is not an immediate response. |
| Fulton conditions and federal oversight | DOJ reporting: 888-473-4092; FultonCountyJail@usdoj.gov. The federal case page describes a 2025 consent decree and independent monitoring. This channel does not arrange an immediate medical response or provide an individual defense lawyer. |
| City ACDC maltreatment / assault / safety | City Corrections reporting: 404-954-8485. Identify city or county custody and the staff/incident involved; ask where to route a report if the other agency is responsible. |
| Atlanta police or corrections officer complaint | Atlanta Citizen Review Board: 404-865-8622; file a city officer complaint. In person: City Hall Tower, Suite 1225, 55 Trinity Ave SW, Atlanta, GA 30303. This city board is not the Sheriff’s grievance office. |
For an ordinary jail grievance, the detained person should request the current grievance form, submission method, response deadline and appeal instructions from housing staff; keep a dated copy and receipt. Public sources reviewed did not establish current facility-specific filing/appeal deadlines. A family phone complaint may not replace the person’s required grievance process. Ask counsel promptly if a deadline or retaliation is a concern, and record each contact and requested remedy.

| City of Atlanta case | City says court is scheduled within 48 hours of arrest; confirm the actual date at 404-865-8010. After release use Atlanta Municipal Court case search with name, case or citation number. |
First appearance concerns notice of charges, counsel and possible bond; do not expect it to resolve the merits of the case. The Sheriff’s general jail text says weekend arrestees see a judge Monday, conflicting with the Clerk’s weekend schedule. Follow the confirmed court docket rather than either blanket prediction.
For Fulton confidential attorney video, the county pages retain Securus wording despite the ICSolutions transition; counsel should verify registration with Jail Security at 404-613-2181. For city ACDC attorney visits, the city publishes 24-hour access every day with bar card and state-issued ID. Ordinary family calls/video are not confidential legal channels.

Fulton bond: verify the instrument and refund owner
- Obtain the current bond amount for every charge and ask about other holds or conditions. Rice Street bond information: 404-613-2002 or 404-662-3516; the main lobby desk operates 24 hours. A paid bond alone does not establish immediate release.
- Before buying a payment instrument, resolve the official conflict: the jail page allows cash, cashier’s checks and postal money orders, while the dedicated Bond Administration page says checks/cards are not accepted at the facility. Call the bond desk for the currently accepted instrument and exact payee. Do not arrive relying on a debit/credit card at the counter.
- For online payment, the Sheriff links Cash Bond Online. Its dedicated page publishes a $2,500 online maximum including fees/surcharges and a $20 nonrefundable fee per bond instrument. Confirm current eligibility and total before authorizing.
- Read the refund-owner rule before paying online: the dedicated page says online bonds name the defendant as surety and are refundable only to the defendant. A counter cash refund normally belongs to the surety named on the receipt. Keep every receipt and court disposition.
Bond Administration: 404-612-5136, Justice Center Tower, 9th floor, 185 Shirley C. Franklin Blvd SW, Atlanta, GA 30303 (older bond pages call the street Central Avenue). Refund paperwork includes the cash-bond refund notice, original receipt, valid unexpired government photo ID and final disposition; if the receipt is lost, the county lists address-matching utility/bank documentation. Confirm the current submission instructions before traveling. This is a courthouse refund process, not a Rice Street cash pickup.
Property and professional surety options
For Fulton property, all owners on the deed/current tax bill must attend with deed, current tax bill, mortgage statement and government picture ID. Property elsewhere in Georgia requires the local sheriff’s prepared documents in a sealed envelope. A professional bond company must be Sheriff-authorized; obtain written fees and collateral terms and verify authorization. Company fees are separate from a cash bond and are generally nonrefundable. Ask counsel about the judge’s release conditions and whether pretrial screening applies.

City ACDC bond rules are different
For an eligible City of Atlanta detainee, verify charges and amount at 404-865-8000. City cash bonds are accepted 24 hours, every day. The payer needs an ID containing full name and signature; the city lists driver’s license, employment, professional/school or membership identification examples.
- The city accepts currency except pennies, USPS or Western Union money orders, and a local-bank cashier’s check only after 4 hours from purchase. It does not accept personal checks, debit cards or credit cards for bond.
- For a Georgia property bond, start with the sheriff in the county where the property is located. Bring the approved sealed envelope to ACDC; all parties listed must attend. City instructions require 2 forms of ID covering full name, current photo/address, date of birth and signature.
- Ask the cashier whose name appears as surety, what receipt to retain and how a refund is requested after disposition. No current city refund timeline was verified. A city bond payment does not settle a separate county case or transfer hold.
The city trust-deposit article prohibits mailed money orders; the bond article permits certain money orders at the bond desk. They concern different transactions. Confirm the person’s custody branch before using either.

Retrieve property from the correct custodian
| Custodian | Process |
|---|---|
| Fulton jail property | The person must sign a release naming the recipient. Bring government photo ID. Sheriff guidance says processing usually takes 48 hours. Confirm that the signed form is processed, pickup building and hours before traveling; no uniform pickup hours were verified. |
| City ACDC personal property | City says release can occur 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, with detainee authorization and valid ID. Obtain the release form at ACDC and have it signed by the person. Confirm completion with 404-865-8000. |
| Atlanta Police property / evidence | APD Property Control is separate: Public Safety Annex, 3493 Donald Lee Hollowell Pkwy NW, Atlanta, GA 30331; 404-546-4330; Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. The city states a 90-day claim period; ask immediately how it applies to the item. Third-party collection requires the owner’s notarized authorization; evidence needs a court order or arresting officer release. Vehicles are handled by the tow company. |
Before a trip, describe the item and ask whether it is booking property, police evidence or an impounded vehicle. Bring the authorization and matching ID; verify whether keys, wallet or clothing are actually included. Do not assume posting bond releases evidence, or that a friend can collect property without the person’s signed authorization.

Release, pickup and the first night
- Ask the current custodian whether the release order and all required bonds/conditions are cleared, whether there is another hold and whether the person will leave from this building or transfer. Record the staff response and time. Booking, database checks and other cases can affect processing; no fixed Fulton release interval was verified.
- Confirm the actual release door and a legal pickup/waiting point before sending a driver. City ACDC permits eligible releases at any time; a person may leave after normal business hours. Arrange a backup phone/contact and transport plan if the driver cannot wait.
- Have the person check returned property, remaining funds, prescriptions or medication instructions, follow-up care and identification before leaving. Ask who resolves a missing item or balance. Neither agency’s public pages establish a guaranteed bus pass, discharge medication quantity or same-night shelter.
- Keep discharge papers and the next court date. Read all written conditions, reporting deadlines and restrictions with counsel; ask which pretrial/probation office or approved monitoring provider receives the person. Jail release does not end the case or automatically cancel appointments.
If pickup falls after MARTA service, plan an affordable alternative before the person exits, rather than assuming the lobby or a nearby business permits overnight waiting. Reentry contacts below can help arrange services, but intake eligibility, space and hours must be confirmed.

Programs inside the jail and how to ask
The county describes GED education, New Beginnings for women, Journey to Wholeness, competency restoration and Platform of Hope. These are different programs with their own eligibility and housing arrangements; the public list is not a promise of immediate enrollment at every building.
| Program | Published focus / useful question |
|---|---|
| GED / education | Ask housing or program staff about current classes, assessment and the waiting list. |
| New Beginnings / Journey to Wholeness | The county describes personal development, substance-use/anger-management support and related skills. Ask whether the person’s current facility and classification can participate. |
| SMART reentry | The county describes selected participants aged 18–24, with Zone 4 geographic criteria and connections to @Promise after release. Ask program staff for the exact eligibility and referral before assuming it is open to everyone. |
| Platform of Hope | A 12-week women’s employment/skills program in the published county description. Ask for the current cohort, location and release follow-through. |
| Competency restoration | A clinical/court-directed pathway; discuss with counsel and the clinical team rather than trying to buy enrollment. |
A family can ask the person to submit a program request and offer contact details for post-release coordination. Ask about disability/language access, what happens after transfer and which certificates or referral documents the person receives. The chaplain may also be requested through staff; the Sheriff lists library and religious services.

| NIA — Center for People Returning | 470-869-2966 info@joinNIA.com 900 Old Roswell Lakes Pkwy, Suite 100B, Roswell, GA 30076 | Support for returning people and families before and after release. Ask for an intake, eligibility, appointment format and referrals matched to housing, work and family needs; do not arrive assuming shelter. |
| CHRIS 180 reentry / stability | Tyeisha.Crumsey@chris180.org Imani.Hawley@CHRIS180.org | Provider describes pre/post-release counseling, care coordination and links to housing, transport, insurance and employment. Send a minimal referral request; use the provider’s agreed secure channel for clinical details. |
| Fulton coordinated entry | 404-612-0720 | CHRIS 180 directs Fulton residents here for homelessness coordination. State the city and current location; City of Atlanta uses a separate system. Ask for the appropriate assessment/referral, not a guaranteed bed. |
- Prepare the release date if known, custody location, safe callback, identification status, housing destination and urgent medical/medication needs.
- Ask the organization whether it can start before release, whether family can make a referral with consent, and what documents are necessary. Record the appointment and transport plan.
- Before discharge, connect the person with the referral and written court/supervision instructions. A service referral does not replace court reporting or establish a safe place for the first night.

Finding someone held here
Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.
Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?
No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.
Does posting bond mean the person comes home?
Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.
What should I confirm before visiting?
The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.
What if I find something that needs correcting?
Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
