Confirm the custody system first
The adult facility at 104 Zena Drive is the Bartow County Jail, also called the Bartow County Detention Center, and is operated by the Sheriff's Jail Division. Georgia Corrections classifies it as a county jail, not a state prison. Use these rules only after the county roster shows the person at the Bartow County Sheriff's Office Jail.

Search by more than a name
The official Bartow Inmate Inquiry accepts name, subject number, booking number, in-custody status, booking-date range and housing facility. Start with the legal last name and In Custody selected; if the name is common, add the first name or use the booking or subject number. Record the displayed housing label before opening any provider account.

A no-result screen is not a release confirmation
A spelling difference, recent booking, transfer or another agency's custody can produce no match. Retry without the first name and with a booking-date range. If the person was just arrested or the expected housing label is absent, call the Main/Jail line at 770-382-5050 and ask staff to confirm the custody location; do not fund an account until identity and housing match.

Visits, video and calls
Local schedule, limits, exceptions and failure help.
Use the current five-day video schedule
The current Sheriff page lists on-site and off-site video visits Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday in three windows: 9:30–11:00 a.m., 12:30–4:00 p.m. and 8:30–11:00 p.m. Sessions are 25 minutes and end when the window closes. The published weekly limit is one free on-site visit plus three off-site visits, for four total. The current page lists $3 per off-site visit; confirm the amount shown by ICSolutions before paying because the retained legacy page still says $5.

Register every participant before the visit
All public visits use ICSolutions video, including on-site visits. Create a free ICSolutions account, select registration for visitation, choose Georgia and Bartow County, find the person and schedule. The retained Sheriff instructions say to list every participant at least 24 hours ahead and arrive 15 minutes early for on-site check-in. The current local page identifies the visitation site administrator at 770-382-5050 ext. 6038; use that number if the app shows no appointments.

Late arrival or a jail movement can end the session
The current rules say a visit automatically terminates if the visitor is more than 10 minutes late. Medical, court, probation, attorney work and other jail operations take priority and can also terminate a visit. Staff may deny, change or cancel visits. If a paid off-site session fails, save the timestamp and transaction record before contacting the provider and the local administrator.

Bring physical photo ID; confirm younger-child rules
The current Sheriff page requires identification and rejects paper IDs. It says a visitor age 16 must be accompanied by an adult over 21, while a visitor 17 or older may visit alone. The retained instructions describe accepted government photo IDs as a U.S. driver's license, U.S. state ID, U.S. military ID or qualifying passport, but also describe a different adult/child age rule. Because the pages conflict and do not clearly address children younger than 16, call ext. 6038 before bringing a minor.

Travel light and use conservative clothing
Current rules prohibit food, drinks, purses, phones, cameras, packages, weapons and tobacco in the lobby or booths, and reject swimsuits, halter tops, tank tops and running shorts. Retained instructions add vehicle keys and approved ID as the only items in the visiting area and prohibit tight, see-through, gang-themed or vulgar clothing, hats, above-knee skirts or dresses, and short shorts. Because staff retain discretion, leave all nonessential property secured before check-in.

Ask before travel for housing or distance exceptions
People housed in booking/bonding have no public visits in the retained instructions; medical housing and suicide-watch visits require clinical approval. The current page permits advance supervisor approval for special-circumstance or extended visits for out-of-state visitors. Professional visits for attorneys, ministers and clinicians are handled separately. Call ext. 6038 before travel if the person is newly booked, in medical or restricted housing, or the visitor is coming from out of state.

Separate an incomplete visit from a connection failure
Bartow's current FAQ says an off-site visit that is not completed is credited back within 24 hours. ICSolutions' Bartow page says internet-connectivity failures are not refunded. If a session fails, capture the error, scheduled time, inmate name and transaction ID, wait 24 hours for the local credit, then contact ICSolutions and the Bartow administrator at ext. 6038. Ask them to classify the failure; do not assume every dropped connection qualifies.

Use ICSolutions for calls, but verify live rates
The retained Sheriff phone page identifies ICSolutions for collect and prepaid debit calls and lists customer care at 1-888-506-8407. It also says calls are limited to 15 minutes. Its published prices cite old FCC rules and should not be repeated as current rates; check the live ICSolutions checkout before adding funds. For a facility-side phone problem, call 770-382-5050 ext. 6038 or 6110.

JailATM messaging is documented only on the retained site
The retained Sheriff page says housing-unit kiosks support electronic messages through JailATM and provides JailATM support at 1-870-627-5476. The current Sheriff site does not republish that program or a current price. Confirm that Bartow County remains selectable in JailATM before paying; use the current Jail Division line if the facility is absent. Unwanted-message concerns can be reported to 770-382-5050 ext. 6038 or 6110.

Mail, books and money
Confirmed routes and unresolved gaps without invention.
Do not guess the personal-mail address
The Sheriff's retained mail page currently exposes only a heading, not usable addressing or content rules, and the current site has no published personal-mail instructions. Third-party pages conflict between direct jail mail and an Atlanta scanning address. Call 770-382-5050 before sending a letter and ask for the exact personal-mail address, required name/number format, return-address rules and whether mail is scanned. Do not use the money-order envelope format for correspondence.
Sources: Bartow County Sheriff's Office: Inmate Mail (retained Sheriff site) · Bartow County Sheriff's Office: Jail Division
Confirm legal mail, books, photos and packages separately
No current official Bartow page located in this review publishes separate legal-mail handling, photo limits, approved book vendors or package rules. Counsel and families should call the Jail Division before sending material and ask whether legal mail goes to 104 Zena Drive, whether an identifying number is required, which publications must come from a publisher, and whether any package program is active. Do not rely on third-party vendor pages for these addresses.

JailATM is current; detailed deposit rules are retained guidance
The current Jail Division links directly to JailATM and lists the commissary desk at 770-382-5050 ext. 3042. The retained Sheriff page describes three methods: a mailed money order, cash/card at the bonding-visitation-lobby kiosk, and an online JailATM deposit; it rejects personal and payroll checks. Because that detailed page is legacy, confirm money-order labeling and any fees with ext. 3042 before mailing. Save every kiosk or web receipt.
Sources: Bartow County Sheriff's Office: Jail Division · Bartow County Sheriff's Office: Inmate Accounts (retained Sheriff site)
If staff confirms a money order, label it completely
The retained instructions require the sender's full legal name and valid home address and say the outside of the envelope should read ATTN: Money Order – inmate name / inmate number, mailed to Bartow County Sheriff's Office, 104 Zena Drive, Cartersville, GA 30121. Treat this as a call-to-confirm format, not a guaranteed current rule. Never mail cash.

Weekly commissary and indigent kits need reconfirmation
The retained Sheriff page says commissary was ordered weekly through Legacy Commissary/JailATM and that a person with seven straight days at zero balance could request an indigent kit with hygiene items, writing materials and stamps every 12 days, with the cost posted as a negative balance. It also lists a $150 combined order limit and two web packs per week. These details are not on the current site; verify availability, deadline, limit and debt treatment with ext. 3042 before relying on them.

Ask how remaining funds are returned before release day
Neither the current nor retained Bartow account pages reviewed state how a remaining trust balance is returned at release or transfer, how long a check or card takes, or how negative indigent charges are handled. The person should ask housing or records staff before release; family can call commissary at ext. 3042. If transferred, do not assume the balance follows automatically—confirm with both facilities and keep the last receipt.

Route urgent facts to the current medical extension
The current Jail Division lists Inmate Medical at 770-382-5050 ext. 6062. The Sheriff describes a 24-hour medical department and says necessary medical and mental-health services are part of the jail mission. If family has urgent medication, suicide-risk, pregnancy, withdrawal or mobility information, call that extension with the person's full name and booking/subject number. Staff may receive information even when privacy rules prevent them from disclosing care details. Use 911 for an immediate community emergency.

Services are broad; family submission rules are not published
The retained medical page identifies CorrectHealth and lists primary, behavioral, dental, optometry, pharmacy, substance-use, women's-health and specialty services. The current site does not identify the vendor or publish procedures for family medication delivery, eyeglasses, records releases, outside appointments or clinical complaints. Do not bring medication to the lobby without instructions; call ext. 6062 and ask what documentation or pharmacy contact is required.

Ask for the internal grievance and ADA route by name
No detention-specific grievance appeal, ADA coordinator or accommodation form was published on the current Sheriff pages reviewed. The general accessibility page concerns website access, not custody accommodations. The person in custody should request the jail grievance process from housing staff. A family member can call the Jail Division at 770-382-5050 ext. 6000 and ask which supervisor receives a medical, conditions or disability-accommodation concern; document the date, issue and response.

Bartow has not published a local third-party PREA channel
No Bartow-specific PREA hotline, outside-reporting address or third-party form was found on the current Sheriff site in this review. Report an immediate threat to 911; otherwise call the Jail Division at 770-382-5050 and ask for the PREA reporting route without confronting the alleged perpetrator. Georgia Corrections publishes 1-888-992-7849 and a state PREA email for GDC offenders, but Bartow is a county jail: first confirm with GDC at 404-656-4661 that its channel covers this person's custody status. Preserve names, dates, location and incident details.

Use the official records portal for logs and recordings
The current Sheriff page routes open-records requests to its NextRequest portal. The retained records page specifically listed inmate files, visitation logs or recordings and phone-call logs or recordings as records-request categories. A request does not guarantee release because exemptions and retention rules may apply, but it is the documented route when a family or attorney needs a preserved administrative record rather than live custody help.

Court, bond and release
Appearance, counsel, records, property and support.
First appearance: save the charge, court and bond result
Bartow Magistrate Court says first-appearance bond hearings begin at 9:00 a.m. Monday through Saturday. Weekday hearings are conducted by Zoom from the Bartow County Jail; Saturday hearings are in person at the jail, 104 Zena Drive. The hearing advises the charges and right to counsel and determines whether the Magistrate Judge can set bond and what conditions apply; it is not a trial and the judge does not decide guilt. The court describes the hearing as occurring within 24–72 hours after arrest. Record every charge, the court, bond amount or no-bond entry, conditions and next date. The public page does not explain Sunday, holiday, public-viewing or family-attendance procedures, so confirm the next session with Magistrate Court at 770-387-5070 and the jail at 770-382-5050.

A preliminary hearing tests probable cause, not guilt
Bartow says preliminary hearings are generally held two or three Wednesdays each month at the jail. The State presents evidence; defense counsel may cross-examine witnesses, and the Magistrate Judge decides only whether probable cause exists to move the case forward. The judge may reconsider bond when appropriate. A private attorney or public defender may represent the defendant. Because the county does not publish the actual calendar or a guaranteed hearing date on this page, call Magistrate Court at 770-387-5070 with the defendant’s full name and case or warrant number. Do not confuse first appearance, preliminary hearing, arraignment and trial—they are separate events.

Use Bartow’s published bond methods—and avoid payment-app scams
First verify every charge and hold in the official inmate record, then call Bonding Administration at 770-382-5050 extension 6039. Bartow publishes four routes: cash bond; an authorized professional bonding company; qualifying Bartow County real property; or an out-of-county Georgia property bond prepared by the sheriff in the property’s county and delivered in a sealed envelope. A cash bond requires the full amount in cash plus a separate nonrefundable $20 state bond fee in exact cash; the Sheriff does not make change. A Bartow property bond requires at least five years of ownership, 40% assessed value greater than the bond, all deed owners present with government photo ID, no use of that property on another bond, and sureties who are not themselves on bond or probation. The Sheriff warns it will never call requesting bond money through Cash App, Apple Pay or Venmo. Confirm current amount, every hold and processing availability before obtaining cash or property papers.

Confirm the authorized company and preserve the bond receipt
The Sheriff’s current page lists three authorized companies: 24 Bail Bonding Inc., 85 Zena Drive, 770-382-2424; Bond James Bond Inc., 88 Zena Drive, 770-382-9111; and Bartow Bonding Co. Inc., 100 Mockingbird Drive, 770-606-0066. The Sheriff cannot recommend one. The page says a professional company may charge up to 15% of the face amount, including applicable surcharges, or a $50 minimum per charge or offense; that private fee is nonrefundable. For cash-bond return after the case concludes, the Sheriff directs users to the Clerk of Superior Court, 770-387-5025, or Probate Court, 770-387-5075. Keep the receipt and case disposition. The Sheriff page contains a typo in the Probate number; the county Probate page confirms 770-387-5075. Reconfirm the authorized-company list and terms before signing because authorization can change.

Apply through the Cherokee Circuit Public Defender
The Cherokee Circuit Public Defender serves Bartow and Gordon counties from 128 W. Cherokee Avenue, Cartersville; 678-721-3254; Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. A person who cannot afford counsel should contact the office before the court date when possible. Georgia’s Public Defender Council says the application asks about income, assets, expenses and household size and may require pay stubs, tax returns, benefit statements or proof of unemployment. If no application was completed in advance, the defendant can ask the judge for appointed counsel at the first appearance. The office’s published county description limits its work to Bartow/Gordon Superior Court criminal cases and Bartow juvenile delinquency matters; it does not promise representation in municipal, probate or civil matters. Confirm the charge and court before applying.

Use the jail roster for custody and the Clerk search for the case
Custody and court dockets answer different questions. Use the Sheriff’s inmate lookup to confirm current housing, charges and bond; use Bartow’s Case Management Web Search for filed civil and criminal case information. The Clerk says the web search supports party, case-number and associated-party searches; creating an account permits free search and viewing, while printed document copies carry fees. For a correction, certified copy or a record that is missing or restricted, contact the Clerk of Superior Court at 135 W. Cherokee Avenue, Suite 233, 770-387-5025 or Criminal@BartowCountyGa.gov. The Clerk’s office maintains Superior Court criminal records but cannot give legal advice. Save the case number, judge, next date and document title rather than relying on a screenshot of the jail roster.

Request an incident report separately; do not guess from a warrant rumor
The Sheriff says an incident report can be obtained at 104 Zena Drive during normal business hours or requested through its online open-records portal. An open-records request is not a custody lookup, warrant clearance or emergency appeal. The Sheriff’s staff directory places Inmate Records and Warrants under the Jail Division and lists 770-382-5050 extensions 6087 and 6053; call the main line and ask for the current records/warrants contact before acting on a reported warrant. Court staff can explain where a filed case is recorded, but only the responsible law-enforcement or court office should confirm whether a warrant is active and what surrender or bond instructions apply. Do not appear at a lobby or send payment based on a caller, social post or third-party database.

Property release is not published—confirm authorization before traveling
No current Sheriff page reviewed publishes an inmate-property release form, releasable-item list, recipient ID rule, pickup hours or entrance. Call 770-382-5050 before leaving home. Ask whether the person can authorize release of property while still in custody, how authorization is recorded, what exact photo identification the recipient needs, which items may be released, the address and lobby/door, and the available pickup window. If release is expected, ask separately whether clothing, medications, identification and trust-account balance are returned at discharge. Do not assume evidence held by Criminal Investigations is inmate property; the Sheriff directory lists separate evidence custodians. Record the employee or unit, date, time and instructions.

A bond or court order starts processing; it is not an exit-time promise
Bartow does not publish a discharge schedule, release door, waiting area, processing estimate, transportation assistance or hold-clearance sequence. After bond is posted or a court order is entered, call 770-382-5050 and ask only whether the release authority has been received and whether another charge, warrant, probation/parole detainer, immigration matter or transfer order prevents discharge. Recheck the official inmate lookup before sending a driver, but a missing roster name alone does not prove a safe release. Arrange a charged phone, weather-appropriate clothing, necessary medication and a backup ride; confirm the pickup location directly with staff. Do not promise an exact time or wait in an undesignated area.

Use the written release order to identify supervision and housing help
Probation and parole are separate from jail custody. For a person ordered to Georgia felony probation or parole, the Department of Community Supervision’s Cartersville office serves Bartow, Gordon and the Cherokee Circuit at 15 Postelle Street, Suite 101; 770-387-3780; Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m. The written release order and assigned officer control reporting. DCS Reentry Partnership Housing is limited to eligible people on active Georgia state probation/parole or qualifying accountability-court supervision who lack a valid residence plan; family cannot submit the request. A DCS officer, GDC counselor or accountability-court coordinator must initiate it, and placement is not guaranteed. Ask before release when homelessness is known.

Prepare benefits, identification and local assistance before discharge
Bartow does not publish a jail discharge planner or promise benefits enrollment, identification, clothing, medication or housing. Build a local sequence: Bartow DFCS at 47 Brook Drive, 770-387-3900, Monday–Friday 9:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., handles questions about SNAP, Medicaid and TANF; Georgia Gateway is the online application and the statewide help line is 877-423-4746. The Cartersville DDS center at 1304 Joe Frank Harris Parkway offers first issuance and replacement of lost/stolen Georgia IDs; it is open Tuesday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–6:00 p.m. and Saturday 8:00 a.m.–noon, and requires the online License/ID/Permit form before the visit. For limited utility, rental, prescription and crisis-food help, Bartow County’s own resource directory lists the Community Resources Office, 140 Douglas Street, Suite 103, 770-387-3708, Tuesday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–1:00 p.m., appointment recommended. Use the local victim advocate for the case and the state system after prison entry
The Cherokee Judicial Circuit Victim/Witness Assistance Unit is at 135 W. Cherokee Avenue, Suite 368, Cartersville; 770-387-5106; Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. It guides victims through the court process, restitution, crisis intervention and community referrals. Give the defendant name, case number and a safe callback method; report an immediate threat to 911. The Sheriff directory also lists a Victims Advocate at 770-382-5050 extension 6362 for law-enforcement-side assistance. For a person later in Georgia Department of Corrections custody, the Georgia Office of Victim Services V.I.P. system at 1-800-593-9474 can provide custody/parole status and, after registration, automated release notifications. That prison/parole system is not a substitute for confirming current Bartow County Jail custody or a local bond change.

The adult jail is at 104 Zena Drive
Bartow County Detention Center is the active adult county jail operated by the Bartow County Sheriff's Office at 104 Zena Drive, Cartersville, GA 30121. The Sheriff and Georgia Department of Corrections both publish that address and 770-382-5050.
Use the person's current Bartow inmate-lookup result and 104 Zena Drive together. A hearing at a downtown court, an arrest by a municipal police department or a state case does not by itself prove the person is housed at this jail.
Do not substitute the nearby Sheriff training center at 94 Zena Drive, Bartow Senior Center at 102 Zena Drive, Bartow County Health Department at 100 Zena Drive, a downtown court or a state supervision office for the jail address. Those are separate functions.

Confirm the public door before the trip
Enter 104 Zena Drive, Cartersville, Georgia 30121 — not only 'Bartow County Jail' — in the navigation tool. Keep the facility name, full address, 770-382-5050 and the person's current booking record together.
The Sheriff publishes a visitation contact at 770-382-5050 Ext. 6038, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Those are contact hours for the visitation unit, not proof that an in-person visit or every lobby transaction occurs during that window.
Before leaving, state the exact purpose of the trip: visitation, bond, attorney visit, property, records or release pickup. Ask which door, check-in point and arrival time apply. The jail remains operational 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, but that does not make administrative or visitor services continuously available.

Bartow Transit is reservation-based, not a fixed jail route
Bartow County Transit provides general-public, non-emergency transportation throughout Bartow County by advance reservation. It does not publish fixed routes, jail stop IDs or a jail timetable. Call 770-387-5165 and ask whether 104 Zena Drive can be served for the required arrival and return times before relying on the trip.
The operator recommends calling at least 24 hours in advance and before 12:00 p.m. for next-day service. Space is first-call, first-served. Email requests are not accepted. Be ready to give the rider's name, pickup address, telephone number, appointment date and time, and destination address.
Anyone needing non-emergency transportation is eligible under the published policy. Riders younger than 18 must travel with an adult; children age 5 or younger require a client-provided car seat. The published local fare is $1 each way for riders age 6 and older. Verify the fare and booking details during the reservation; do not assume a ride until the dispatcher confirms it.
The current county page and its May 2025 flyer conflict on hours. The page says service starts at 9:30 a.m. and ends at 4:00 p.m., with calls from 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m.; the flyer says operating and reservation hours are 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Treat this as an unresolved source conflict and confirm the exact pickup and return window by phone.
Sources: Bartow County Transit: General-public reservation service, 770-387-5165, booking rules, eligibility, fare, vehicle accessibility, door-to-door assistance and conflicting service/call hours. · Bartow County Transit: Current linked operator flyer: Monday-Friday 8:00 a.m.-4:30 p.m.; weekend/holiday closure; reservation, rider, fare, assistance, 72-hour accommodation, pickup-readiness and five-minute-wait details. · Northwest Georgia Regional Commission: Classifies Bartow County Transit as demand/response transport and provides 140 Douglas Street and 770-387-5165.
September 28 through October 4 is a reservation window, not a timetable
This seven-date check uses the current operator page and official May 2025 flyer. It is not live arrival data and does not promise capacity, a jail pickup, an appointment-time arrival or a return ride.
The operator also closes for Bartow County Government holidays. Confirm service for the exact date when booking.

Request the accommodation when booking
Bartow Transit says 7 of its 13 passenger vehicles have wheelchair lifts and that it provides door-to-door assistance to riders with certain disabilities on request. Tell the dispatcher exactly what assistance, mobility device space or curb-to-door help is needed.
The May 2025 flyer says accommodation requests should be made at least 72 hours before the trip. Call 770-387-5165; the published TDD is 770-387-5034. The county ADA/Title VI coordinator is reached at 770-387-5020.
Passengers should be ready 1 hour before the scheduled pickup and wait at the main entrance or curbside, weather permitting; the flyer says a driver may wait 5 minutes. Ask the dispatcher how this applies at both the home pickup and 104 Zena Drive.

The visitor lot, drop-off and final accessible path remain unverified
The current Sheriff pages publish the detention-center address and phone but do not publish a named visitor lot, parking fee, hours, overflow plan, towing rules, passenger drop-off, rideshare pickup point or a transaction-specific public entrance.
The reviewed official pages also do not document a continuous accessible path from a marked space or curb to the correct jail door. The adjacent senior center, health department and Sheriff training-center addresses are not evidence that their lots may be used for jail business.
Call 770-382-5050 before travel; for visitation, use Ext. 6038. Ask for the correct public door, authorized visitor parking, accessible space or curb, screening point and after-hours instructions for the exact transaction. Do not treat a map pin or aerial image as proof of public or accessible access.

Finding someone held here
Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Bartow County Sheriff’s Office.

Get two things first: which facility the person is actually in, and their booking or ID number. Almost nothing works without them. Then check this facility’s current instructions — rules and service providers change.
Clear information.
Clear boundaries.
Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.
Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?
No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.
Does posting bond mean the person comes home?
Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.
What should I confirm before visiting?
The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.
What if I find something that needs correcting?
Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
