Official Sheriff In Custody page embeds incustody.shastasheriff.com. Acknowledge the disclaimer, then search or browse. Roster columns: name, booking date, bail, date of birth. It listed 280 people when checked 2026-09-12 (last updated 09/12/26 09:27:22). Jail411 does not host inmate names. You can also call (530) 245-6100. Three things to confirm before the trip.
In-person visiting resumed September 8, 2026. Construction is still underway — short delays can happen. Requests must arrive 7 days before the date you want, and not more than 30 days ahead. You will be assigned a 30-minute slot that matches the housing unit.
- 01Confirm custody
Search Inmate Lookup or call (530) 245-6100.
Open the Sheriff In Custody page, accept the disclaimer, and find the person. Ask which housing unit they are in — Level 1 (1A–1D), Level 2 (2A–2D), Level 3 (3A–3D), Booking, or Medical use different days and windows on the 2023 visiting PDF.
- 02Request 7 days ahead
Submit the official visitation form.
Use shastacounty.gov/sheriff/page/inmate-visitation-request. One adult visitor per day. You are notified by email if the request is approved and what time was assigned. Requests made before September 1, 2026 had to be resubmitted.
- 03Bring ID only
Be on time. Leave bags in the car.
Verifiable identification (California driver license is the example on the jail page). No purses, packages, or carry-in items. No cellphones, cameras, or smoking. Reception will not take mail, books, packages, or commissary money. Late arrivals are not processed. Maximum 1 adult and 1 minor. Anyone entering is subject to search and a metal detector.

Release and property
Bail, property, and commissary pickup
Exact amount at 1655 West Street reception
Jail page: to bail with U.S. currency you must have the exact dollar amount. You can write a verifiable personal check up to $1,000, or a cashier’s check or money order for the exact amount, made out to Shasta County Superior Court. Bring it to Main Jail reception at 1655 West Street. Get the charge and bail amount from custody staff at (530) 245-6100. A licensed bail bond agency is the other path the page describes — Jail411 does not publish a bondsman directory. Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a probation hold, parole hold, or out-of-county warrant applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6).
Call the jail
Detailed property-release steps for families are not on the public jail page. Call (530) 245-6100. Clothing and property are handled at the jail, not at 300 Park Marina Circle.

After booking
Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.
Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.
1515 Court Street
Criminal Division handles misdemeanor and felony charges. Request court-appointed counsel from the judge at first appearance; the Public Defender is at 1815 Yuba Street once appointed. Criminal Division office hours 8:30 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Fax (530) 999-2003. Locations page lists only this Redding Main Courthouse (Departments 21–64 and jury assembly).
Public case portal: portal.shasta.courts.ca.gov/PortalPROD. This 1515 Court Street building is the courthouse — not the jail at 1655 West Street.
1815 Yuba Street
Public Defender page: at first appearance the judge decides if you qualify. Once appointed, a Deputy Public Defender is assigned. If you are in jail, an attorney visits within a few days of that appearance. Do not discuss the case on the jail phone or during visiting.
Shasta County Public Defender, 1815 Yuba Street, Redding, CA 96001. Ashley Jones, Public Defender. Fax (530) 245-7560. Out of custody: call for an appointment.
Probation is not parole
A probation hold can block release after bail. Supervised Own Recognizance (SOR) staff work inside the jail and at the Community Corrections Center. Youth detention visiting is (530) 225-5838 — not this admin line.
Chief Tracie Neal. Fax (530) 245-6001. Adult Division covers felony probation, PRCS, and mandatory supervision. Community Corrections Center / GEO Day Reporting Center programs are described on the CCC page.
Redding parole
CDCR lists a Redding Parole Office at 391 Hemsted Drive, Redding, CA 96002, (530) 226-3432. State parole is not Shasta County Probation. Report to the office named in the release papers.
