Use the current adult Sheriff jail on West Old State Road 28
Tipton County Jail / Tipton County Corrections Center is the Sheriff-operated adult county jail at 2300 W Old SR 28, Tipton, IN 46072. The jail business line is 765-675-7004, and the facility is staffed 24 hours a day.
The current building opened in March 2020. The county publishes 84 general-housing beds, not the 27-bed capacity of the former facility. The jail houses pretrial detainees, county-sentenced adults and some Level 6 felons. Those custody classes do not make it an IDOC prison.

Confirm Tipton County custody before sending money or traveling
Use the official Indiana County Jail Public Portal and select Tipton County. Search the person's full legal name and date of birth if known. If there is no result, retry without a middle name or birth date, check spelling, and call 765-675-7004 with the arrest date and agency.
Ask the jail for the exact name spelling and identifier required by CPC, Securus, JailATM or mailed funds. Check Indiana DOC, BOP and ICE separately when the county portal does not establish where the person is held; use MyCase for the court file, not as proof of physical custody.

Match each task to the responsible contact
Call the jail at 765-675-7004 for custody, housing, visits, local approval, property, clinical relays and release. Current Jail Commander Captain Jesse Wyrick is published at jcomm@tiptoncounty.in.gov; Assistant Commander Lt. Mitchell Johnson is published at mjohnson@tiptoncounty.in.gov. Use 765-675-0788 for the Sheriff tip line, not routine family service.
CPC handles visit/email account support at 877-998-5678. Securus handles voice-account billing/support at 800-844-6591. The provider cannot override jail approval or lockdown.

Prepare CPC visiting
Schedule through CPC and verify every local exception.
Schedule every visit through CPC and preserve the local limits
All visits are scheduled through Combined Public Communications at CPCJAIL.COM or 877-998-5678. Each person in custody is permitted one free 15-minute visit per week, completed from the jail lobby. Additional remote visits may be arranged through CPC and are not free.
The county also warns that visitation is not guaranteed when population is excessive. Do not travel because the account shows approved; confirm the current local schedule, housing availability and check-in rule with the jail.

Confirm ID, minors and exceptions before leaving home
The county requires visitors to submit to search, dress appropriately, keep children supervised and bring no weapons, purse, handbag, phone, pager, other electronic device, diaper bag, stroller, infant seat, food or drink into the visiting area. Shirts and shoes are required; halter tops, swimwear and bare midriffs are barred.
No reviewed official page publishes the accepted ID list, minor ID or guardianship documents, visitor count, minimum age, attorney/clergy procedure, late-arrival rule, disability accommodation, language help, protective-order restriction or special-visit path. Call 765-675-7004 and get the exact answer for the visit date.

Separate CPC account failures from jail decisions
Create or recover the CPC/InmateSales account, select Tipton County and the person using the jail-confirmed spelling/identifier, complete identity steps, then use live availability. Before paying for a remote visit, confirm the price, device test, cancellation and refund terms shown at checkout; the county does not publish them.
For login, camera, payment, receipt or connection failures, save screenshots and call CPC at 877-998-5678. For a denied visit, schedule, visitor rule, housing restriction or lockdown, call the jail. Do not open a second account until CPC checks whether it will trigger duplicate-account review.

Keep voice, messages, mail and money separate
Use only the verified provider and task-specific address.
Use Securus for voice calls and expect local lockdown limits
The county identifies Securus as the inmate telephone provider and publishes 800-844-6591 for billing or service. General-population collect calling is available from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. except during lockdown; access may be denied and is unavailable in restrictive housing or lockdown.
Use the official Securus friends-and-family site to create or fund only the voice product shown for Tipton. If a call will not connect, ask Securus about number blocks, billing and account verification, then ask the jail whether the housing unit is locked down. The county does not publish current rates, call length, voicemail or confidential legal-call setup.

Use CPC email only for nonconfidential communication
The county permits paid email through Combined Public Communications. Messages are routinely reviewed; violations can restrict the account and the privilege may be revoked. Do not use CPC email for privileged legal communication, urgent medical facts, threats or emergency reporting.
The reviewed local pages do not establish tablets, photo messaging, electronic documents, voicemail or legal-email service. Ask the jail which CPC functions are active for the person's housing unit before purchasing credits.

Follow the published USPS screening rules but confirm the address format
Traditional mail must arrive through USPS; hand delivery is not accepted. Mail is delivered between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday through Friday, except holidays. The sender must use a full name and full address—no initials or abbreviations—or the item is returned. Pictures are scanned to the person's password-protected digital profile; the page does not publish a numeric photo limit.
The reviewed page does not print the exact recipient line, booking-ID format or a distinct mailing address. Before sending, call the jail and confirm whether 2300 W Old SR 28 is the current postal route, the required identifier, and what happens to originals after scanning. Do not copy a commercial directory's address.
Sources: Tipton County — Inmate Mail · Tipton County Sheriff — Jail Division
Keep attorney mail separate and obtain written addressing instructions
The public mail page does not publish legal-mail addressing, privileged markings, opening/inspection, copying, delivery, rejection or return rules. Counsel should call 765-675-7004 before sending and ask for the exact legal-mail recipient line and street or post-office route.
Do not send privileged material through CPC email or assume personal-mail scanning applies. Use tracking where permitted and keep the cover letter and contents list.

Order only new publisher-direct reading material
New books and magazines must come directly from a publisher or warehouse. Hardbacks and sexually explicit materials are not accepted. After inspection, the person may donate reading material. Newspapers must arrive by subscription directly from the news agency.
The jail may return an entire mailing when it contains contraband. Published bans include criminal/escape plans, threats, weapon or drug instructions, safety hazards, prohibited sexual content, adhesives, glitter, lipstick, stamps, extra envelopes, staples, clips, laminated or internet material, food, perfume, plastic/metal objects and questionable stains or foreign substances. Confirm package carrier, quantity, title and return disposition before ordering.

Meet the Tuesday deposit cutoff for Wednesday orders
Inmates do not keep cash. Funds support hygiene, food, clothing and writing materials. Commissary is ordered Wednesday and delivered Thursday; money must be posted by 5 p.m. Tuesday to be used that week. Disciplinary/restrictive housing and diabetic restrictions can limit items.
The county publishes three deposit routes: JailATM online, a money order mailed in care of the inmate, or cash at the jail lobby kiosk. Do not mail cash or checks. Confirm the payee, recipient ID, fee, limit, posting time and refund before paying; CPC or Securus balances are not commissary funds.
Sources: Tipton County — Inmate Money / Commissary · JailATM
Do not bring clothing except the narrow jury-trial allowance
Outside clothing is not accepted for daily use. People in custody may buy underwear, T-shirts and socks through commissary. The county allows one set of personal clothing to be accepted one week before a jury trial; personal clothing is laundered weekly.
Call before purchasing or delivering trial clothing to confirm the case is set for jury trial, garment limits, size, labeling, delivery time and release/disposition. This is not a general property-drop rule.
Protect health, safety and access
Relay urgent facts and identify unpublished procedures.
Relay urgent health facts to the jail and distinguish published care levels
The county inmate-information page says a nurse is available daily, a doctor as needed and dental care as needed. A 2024 local report documents a county contract with Comprehensive Correctional Care (3C's) for full-time nursing. The jail page does not publish a family clinical line, sick-call form, copay, emergency-notification standard or hospital partner.
For urgent information, call 765-675-7004 with the person's name/date of birth, symptoms, diagnosis, prescription/pharmacy and callback number, and ask that it be relayed to custody and clinical staff. Call 911 for an active community emergency; 911 does not replace the jail relay for a person already in custody.

Use the jail’s published mental-health unit without assuming placement
The current facility has a dedicated mental-health housing unit, described by the county as the first such jail unit in Indiana. That does not guarantee admission, a diagnosis or a public family contact. For self-harm threats, psychosis, withdrawal or sudden deterioration, call the jail immediately and give observable facts and timing.
Indiana 988 supports community crisis response but does not control jail classification. Ask the jail how family information reaches the mental-health team and how continuity records are authorized.

Let the jail verify prescriptions before any medication is dispensed
The county accepts prescription medication for review, verifies it with the jail physician and dispenses approved medication. Do not mail medicine or leave it without instructions. Call first for the accepted container, pharmacy/prescriber contact, drop-off point and hours.
No public page explains nonprescription medication, glasses, CPAP, mobility devices, medical authorizations or records requests. Ask for the clinical or records custodian and required signed authorization.
Sources: Tipton County — Other Inmate Information · Tipton County Tribune — jail medical-services contract
Ask for the current internal request, grievance and appeal sequence
No reviewed public Tipton source publishes the inmate request form, grievance deadline, appeal level, emergency grievance, medical grievance, retaliation report or family complaint intake. The person in custody should request the current written process and keep dates, names and copies where allowed.
A family member may call the jail and ask for the responsible supervisor, but cannot replace a required internal filing. For an immediate safety risk, describe the risk now rather than waiting for a routine grievance response.
Sources: Tipton County Sheriff — Jail Division · Tipton County Sheriff Office
Request a specific jail accommodation and use the county ADA contact as escalation
Call the jail before a visit and request the exact accommodation: mobility access, ASL/effective communication, assistive device, accessible video equipment, service animal, extra time or language help. Ask who owns the decision and how approval will be documented.
The county publishes ADA Coordinator contact 765-675-4508 ext. 1003 and s.crawford@tiptoncounty.in.gov for county public access. That contact does not automatically approve a jail visit. Indiana Relay can help with telephone access but cannot waive jail rules.

Report sexual abuse or retaliation promptly despite the stale contact text
Tipton County publishes zero tolerance, says reports can be anonymous, and says all reports are investigated. The PREA page tells readers to contact “Captain Sheppard,” while the current Jail Division page identifies Captain Jesse Wyrick and does not show the promised PREA phone/email fields. Treat the named contact as stale.
For immediate danger call 911 or the jail at 765-675-7004. For a third-party report, ask for the PREA coordinator/team and a method that preserves anonymity; current commander email is jcomm@tiptoncounty.in.gov. The federal PREA Resource Center explains standards but is not Tipton's investigation intake.

Coordinate case, counsel, bond and release
Follow the responsible office and check every hold.
Use MyCase and the Clerk for the court file
Search Indiana MyCase by legal name or case number, then confirm the hearing, filing and payment instructions with the Tipton County Clerk at 765-675-2795. The Clerk and Circuit Court are at 101 E Jefferson St., Tipton, not the jail; Circuit Court is 765-675-2791.
Do not infer physical release from a docket entry. A signed order still must reach the jail, and another hold or transport may remain.
Sources: Indiana Courts — MyCase · Tipton County Clerk · Tipton Circuit Court · Indiana Judicial Branch — Tipton County
Identify counsel through the case and arrange confidential contact
Ask the Clerk which attorney appears in the criminal case, then contact counsel directly. The jail does not publish attorney-visit hours, confidential telephone/video setup, document exchange or after-hours approval.
Retained or appointed counsel should arrange legal contact with the jail and request legal-mail instructions. Indiana Legal Services and court self-help may assist with eligible civil reentry matters; they do not replace appointed criminal defense.
Sources: Tipton County Clerk · Tipton Circuit Court · Indiana Public Defender Council · Indiana Legal Services · Indiana Courts — Self-Service Legal Center
Confirm bond type, tender and release effect before paying
No reviewed Tipton jail page publishes where and when bond is accepted, payment methods, fees, agency code, surety rules or refund timing. Use MyCase for the case, then call the Clerk at 765-675-2795 and the jail at 765-675-7004.
Ask for the current bond amount and type, case number, payee/location, accepted tender at that hour, fee, receipt and whether any other hold prevents release. Do not pay a third-party site solely because it lists the person's name.
Sources: Indiana Courts — MyCase · Tipton County Clerk · Tipton Circuit Court · Tipton County Sheriff — Jail Division
Confirm authorization and pickup before traveling
No public local source reviewed states how a person authorizes property release, who may receive it, accepted recipient ID, pickup hours, release door, abandoned-property deadline, vehicle/key handling or rejected-item disposition.
Call the jail, ask whether a signed release is required, and confirm exact check-in location and ID. The jury-trial clothing rule does not prove ordinary property exchange is allowed.
Sources: Tipton County Sheriff — Jail Division · Tipton County — Other Inmate Information
Verify court processing, every hold and the pickup plan
Before driving, ask the jail whether the person remains in physical custody, the release order or bond has been processed, and any probation, warrant, another county, Indiana DOC, federal, ICE, medical or transport hold remains.
Confirm the public release door, estimated processing window, property/clothing, medications, phone access and transportation. No official Tipton page publishes release timing or pickup instructions, so do not promise a time.

Ask for jail-based Turning Point help and rebuild essentials
County meeting records say Turning Point works with people in the jail on mindset and recidivism, but the reviewed material does not publish a family intake or release-planning contact. Ask the jail who currently coordinates the program and how the person requests it.
Before release, ask about medication supply, treatment appointment, ID, benefits, probation/reporting and transportation. Indiana 211 can search current food, shelter and recovery resources; FSSA handles SNAP/cash/health screening; Vital Records and Indiana Medicaid support documents and coverage. Confirm eligibility directly.

Request records from the office that owns them
The Sheriff owns jail/incident records; the Clerk owns court records; the medical contractor or county records custodian may own clinical records. Ask each office for the correct form, identification, authorization, fee, redaction rule and delivery method.
Do not send medical authorization or privileged material through CPC email. MyCase is useful for public docket material but is not a complete jail, incident or medical record.

Plan the last mile
Reserve demand response and confirm the exact public door.
Confirm the entrance, parking and accessible path before travel
The operating jail is at 2300 W Old SR 28, not the former downtown jail. No reviewed official page identifies the public visitor entrance, after-hours/bond entrance, visitor parking row, accessible parking, curb cut, screening queue, rideshare point or release pickup door.
Call 765-675-7004 before leaving and ask which door serves the task, where to park or be dropped off, what may enter, and how an accessible route is handled. Do not use the former 121 W Madison address.

Reserve Encore transit both ways; there is no fixed jail stop
Tipton County Public Transit by Encore is demand-response, curb-to-curb service for people of any age, generally Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. except major holidays. Call 765-675-4746 ext. 3. At least 24 hours' notice is required; 72 hours is strongly preferred, and trips may be requested up to three months ahead subject to availability.
Request 2300 W Old SR 28, reserve the return leg, disclose mobility devices/oxygen/service animal/PCA needs, and ask for door-to-door assistance if needed. A PCA rides without charge. No fixed jail stop, fare, live arrival, exact public door or final pedestrian path is published.

Treat the seven reviewed weekdays as planning checks, not bookings
The next reviewed weekday pattern is September 30; October 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8, 2026. Each falls on the operator's published Monday–Friday pattern, but none is a booking or holiday guarantee. Call as early as possible, preferably 72 hours ahead, and confirm fare, pickup window, accessible vehicle, exact jail drop-off and return pickup.
Cancel at least one hour before pickup when necessary. A no-show can cancel later trips that day, and repeated no-shows may lead to suspension under the operator policy.

Use verified referral and lodging contacts rather than guessing nearby availability
Dial 211 or 866-211-9966, or text the ZIP code to 898-211, for current Tipton-area food, shelter, transportation, recovery and benefits referrals. Encore at 765-675-4746 can also explain its transportation/community-service scope. Verify hours, eligibility and same-day capacity.
For regional lodging, Hampton Inn & Suites Kokomo publishes 2920 S Reed Rd., Kokomo and 765-455-2900. It is not represented as the nearest, cheapest or transit-connected option; confirm price and transport before booking. Ask 211 for nearer food or lodging that is open on the travel date.

Keep facilities and authorities distinct
Do not transfer adult-jail rules to another identity.
Keep every nonjail identity and bounded population separate
The former jail/Sheriff residence at 121 W Madison St. is not the operating housing site. Tipton County Probation, Circuit Court, Clerk, Prosecutor and municipal police are separate offices. Youth custody, IDOC prisons, BOP custody, ICE detention and any work-release/community-corrections program follow their own rules.
Level 6 felons and adults housed for other counties can be bounded populations inside Tipton County Jail; that does not create another facility or import the sending agency's family rules. Confirm which authority owns the case, transport and release decision.

Use emergency and notification channels for safety
Call 911 for immediate danger. For nonemergency jail safety information call 765-675-7004. VINE can support custody-status notifications but is not a substitute for confirmation by the jail.
Do not use a routine CPC email or scheduled visit to report a threat, sexual abuse, retaliation, self-harm or medical emergency. Share the minimum necessary account and medical details through the responsible channel.

Finding someone held here
Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Tipton County Sheriff’s Office.

Before you travel, pay, or mail anything
Get two things first: which facility the person is actually in, and their booking or ID number. Almost nothing works without them. Then check this facility’s current instructions — rules and service providers change.
Clear information.
Clear boundaries.
Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.
Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?
No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.
Does posting bond mean the person comes home?
Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.
What should I confirm before visiting?
The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.
What if I find something that needs correcting?
Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
