PART 01

Start here

Actionable local steps with source disclosures and explicit gaps.

Identity and active facility

The adult Sheriff jail is Perry County Detention Center at 2211 Herrman Street, Tell City, IN 47586. Call 812-547-2441. The Sheriff’s mail instructions also use the alias “Perry County Jail, IN”; both names point to this address, not to Community Corrections or Branchville Correctional Facility.

Find the person and troubleshoot the roster

Start from the Sheriff’s Current Inmate List. Search the full legal name and likely spelling variants; if a recent arrest is absent, call 812-547-2441 with the full name, date of birth and approximate arrest time. Recheck Indiana’s statewide jail portal, SAVIN, IDOC, BOP or ICE only when transfer is plausible; a docket is not proof of present custody.

Call the right desk

Use 812-547-2441 for custody, booking number, local rule, safety, property and release questions; the Sheriff lists fax 812-547-0410. Use CPC phone support at 1-877-998-5678, CPC visit support at 1-866-340-7879, Clerk 812-547-3741 for court records, and SIRS 812-547-3348 for a Perry County ride request. Do not expect one desk to resolve another agency’s task.

Facility boundaries before using a rule

These rules apply only while the person is held by the Perry County Sheriff at 2211 Herrman Street. Community Corrections, probation, court, a weekender arrangement, Branchville Correctional Facility, youth custody, municipal police, IDOC, BOP and ICE are separate systems. Confirm the custodian again after every transport or sentencing event.

PART 02

Visits

Actionable local steps with source disclosures and explicit gaps.

Video-only visit modes

The Sheriff publishes video visitation rather than contact visiting. Onsite video uses lobby stations; remote video requires a computer or mobile device with camera, speaker and reliable internet. The page says remote video costs $0.20 per minute, or $4 for 20 minutes; onsite has one free visit and additional visits cost $8, but the free-visit period is not defined.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Visitation · InmateSales facility communications portal

Visit schedule and Sunday difference

Onsite lobby video is published Monday–Saturday, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM; no onsite visits are offered Sunday. Remote video is published every day, 8:00 AM–8:00 PM. The Sheriff warns that times can vary, so check the logged-in InmateSales calendar before paying or traveling.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Visitation · InmateSales facility communications portal

Book and test a video visit

At InmateSales, sign in or create an account, choose New Purchase, select Perry County and remote or onsite visiting, enter the requested identity information, buy minutes if needed and choose an available slot. Android users are directed to Chrome; Apple users to the app. For scheduling help call 1-866-340-7879; published support hours are Monday–Friday 7:00 AM–7:00 PM CST and Saturday 1:00 PM–5:00 PM CST, closed Sunday.

Visitors, children and unpublished rules

The visitation room allows no more than 2 visitors total, including children; additional people must wait in the lobby. Cellphones and recording devices are not allowed in the visitation room. The Sheriff does not publish accepted ID, minor consent/custody papers, dress, infant supplies or disability exceptions, so call 812-547-2441 before bringing a child or relying on an exception.

Avoid and document failed visits

Before a remote session, update the browser/app, allow camera and microphone access, use stable internet and save the confirmation and receipt. If the person is moved, the slot disappears or the connection fails, record the time and error and call 1-866-340-7879; ask the jail whether housing or operations caused the problem. Local cancellation, refund, late-arrival and outage rules are not published.

PART 03

Calls and mail

Actionable local steps with source disclosures and explicit gaps.

Set up telephone funds correctly

Perry County assigns CPC/InmateSales to telephone service. Buy telephone time at the lobby CPC kiosk, at InmateSales.com or through 1-877-998-5678. Pin Debit can be used by the resident to call any permitted number; Prepaid is tied to the purchased number. Confirm the person’s exact name/ID and account type before paying.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Communication · InmateSales facility communications portal · Combined Public Communications support

Phone blocks, balances and failed calls

The Sheriff says telephone time cannot be moved to commissary or refunded when the person leaves. For an unexplained charge, blocked number or account problem, keep the receipt, account email, called number and timestamp and contact CPC at 1-877-998-5678; call the jail only for a local restriction or custody change. Local rates, calling hours, call length and block-removal rules remain unpublished.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Communication · Combined Public Communications support

Address personal mail to the scan center

For personal/nonlegal mail, use exactly: Inmate Name – Inmate ID; Perry County Jail, IN; PO Box 76550; Highland Heights, KY 41076. Include the sender’s return address and use material no larger than 8.5 x 11 inches on light, scannable card stock. Personal mail goes to Kentucky; do not send it to 2211 Herrman Street.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Communication · TextBehind

Photos, paper and publications

A mailing may enclose up to 10 photographs printed on photo paper. Internet printouts, colored-page printouts, provocative content and many decorated or nonwhite paper items are prohibited; the Sheriff says violating items are destroyed. No current publisher-direct book, magazine, newspaper or religious-publication rule is posted, so ask the jail before ordering anything.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Communication

Prohibited enclosures and package exceptions

Do not enclose stamps, blank envelopes, stationery, packages, cash, checks or currency in correspondence. Address labels, stickers, homemade or musical cards, paint, whiteout, glue, liquids, glitter, raised decorations, tracing/coloring pages and colored ink/marker/crayon drawings are prohibited. Certified mail needing the resident’s signature and postage-due mail are return-to-sender categories; no authorized package or clothing-drop program is published.

PART 04

Money, commissary and bond

Actionable local steps with source disclosures and explicit gaps.

Deposit money by the assigned channel

For a resident account, the Sheriff publishes a Stellar lobby kiosk available 24/7 with a $2 fee, online deposits through JailATM, and money orders mailed to the legal-mail/money-order street address. Confirm the exact resident name and ID before paying. Keep CPC telephone money separate from resident-account/commissary money.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Commissary · Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Communication · JailATM

Troubleshoot a missing deposit

Save the kiosk or JailATM receipt, transaction number, amount, date, resident name/ID and payment method. Ask the vendor whether the transaction succeeded, then ask the jail whether the identity matched or a debt deduction applied. The Sheriff does not publish limits, card/cash acceptance, posting times, reversals or charge-dispute deadlines.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Commissary · JailATM

Commissary eligibility and release balance

The Sheriff says residents in an eligible classification may buy commissary with their account. On bond, release or transfer, debts such as medical charges or property damage may be deducted and the remaining funds are issued by check with the person. A transfer to IDOC cannot take the funds/property; the check is left at the detention center for a person designated by the resident.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Commissary · Indiana DOC offender search

Read the order before paying bond

The court sets the bond; some cases have no bond. The Sheriff accepts cash or major credit/debit/prepaid card in the jail lobby or Clerk office and says exact cash is required. Property bonds are not accepted at the jail. The page describes a 10% cash deposit on a surety amount, but the signed order controls and the published statutory citation appears inconsistent with Indiana’s bail chapter.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Posting Bond · Indiana MyCase · Indiana Judicial Branch court directory · Indiana Code Article 35-33-8

Online bond and payment safeguards

For an online/phone card bond, the Sheriff page names GovPayNow, PLC 6903 or PLC 6904, 1-877-392-2455 and a 9% service fee. Call 812-547-2441 first for the booking number, correct PLC and eligibility; the current vendor brand is AllPaid. The Clerk may retain court-ordered amounts plus an administration charge, so do not promise the entire deposit will return.

PART 05

Health, grievances and safety

Actionable local steps with source disclosures and explicit gaps.

Send an actionable health concern

No public page identifies the jail’s current clinical provider or family medical channel. Call 812-547-2441 and give the resident’s full name/ID, condition, medications and doses, last dose, symptoms, timing, allergies, pregnancy status when relevant and your callback number; ask staff to route the information to clinical personnel. Privacy law may limit what staff can tell you, but it does not prevent you from providing information.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Contact · Perry County Health Department

Medication and device questions

Before bringing medicine, glasses, CPAP equipment or another device, call the jail; no public drop-off or verification process is posted. Have the pharmacy, prescriber, prescription number, dose and last-dose time ready. Do not place medication in mail or a package unless the jail gives current written instructions.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Contact · Perry County Sheriff — Inmate Communication

Build a record for a grievance

The jail does not publish its grievance form, deadlines or appeal. The resident should ask staff in writing how to file, keep the date, issue, people involved, requested remedy and every response, and appeal through the internal chain if available. A family member can report a concrete safety fact to 812-547-2441 but cannot substitute for the resident’s required internal step.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Contact

Request disability or language access

No jail-specific ADA coordinator, form, interpreter/TTY route or appeal is posted. Call 812-547-2441 with the functional limitation, exact accommodation needed, timing and how to respond; ask for the request to be documented and routed. ADA.gov explains general rights but is not the local request channel.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Contact · ADA.gov

Report sexual abuse or retaliation safely

No local public page identifies a third-party, anonymous or outside-advocate PREA channel. For immediate danger, call 911 and the jail at 812-547-2441; otherwise give the resident’s name/ID, what happened, when/where, immediate safety need and suspected retaliation, and ask how to make a protected report. Federal PREA resources provide context but do not replace a local report.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Contact · U.S. DOJ PREA resources

Separate jail emergencies from community crisis care

For a life-threatening event inside the jail, call 812-547-2441 or 911 and state that the person is in Perry County Detention Center. 988 and community providers can support family members or people outside custody, but they do not dispatch jail medical staff or control observation status. Ask for the exact concern to be logged and routed to custody and clinical personnel.

PART 07

Travel and local help

Actionable local steps with source disclosures and explicit gaps.

Confirm parking and the correct entrance

The facility address is 2211 Herrman Street, but no official page identifies visitor parking, accessible spaces, overflow, lobby entrance or after-hours waiting. Call 812-547-2441 before travel, especially for a wheelchair, child, property pickup or late release. Do not use the nearby court address as the jail entrance.

Sources: Perry County Sheriff — Contact · Indiana Judicial Branch court directory · ADA.gov

Reserve SIRS Link-N-Go and confirm the curb

SIRS serves Perry County by advance-reservation demand response. Call the Tell City office at 812-547-3348; rides are published Monday–Friday 6:00 AM–6:00 PM and scheduling office hours are 8:00 AM–4:00 PM Central. SIRS recommends two weeks for best availability, prefers at least 48 hours and accepts requests up to 30 days ahead; request 2211 Herrman Street and disclose mobility, escort, oxygen or service-animal needs.

Seven dated service checks

The published weekday pattern supports service-window checks for Thursday 2026-10-01, Friday 2026-10-02, Monday 2026-10-05, Tuesday 2026-10-06 and Wednesday 2026-10-07. Saturday 2026-10-03 and Sunday 2026-10-04 are outside the regular Monday–Friday window. Every ride still requires reservation, capacity and same-day confirmation; no fixed jail stop was found.

One verified local lodging lead

Ramada by Wyndham Tell City lists 235 Orchard Hill Drive, Tell City, IN 47586 and 812-547-3234, with accessible rooms and free parking among its published amenities. Call the hotel for current rate, availability, accessibility and check-in requirements; it is a commercial option, not a jail-arranged placement or emergency shelter.

Food and basic-needs contacts

The 2026 Perry County Community Resource Guide lists Council of Agencies at 812-547-7780 and Widow’s Barrel Food Pantry at 812-547-0834 among local food resources. Call first for current hours, eligibility, documents and inventory. For a broader or after-hours search, dial 211; a directory entry is not a guarantee of food that day.

Local community contacts without custody confusion

The current guide lists Perry County Health Department 812-547-2746, Catholic Charities Tell City 812-547-0903, LifeSpring 812-547-7905, WorkOne Tell City 812-548-4870 and Indiana Legal Services 800-852-3477. These organizations may help with community health, material needs, behavioral health, work or civil law after release; none controls jail medical care, custody or a criminal court order.

Build an after-hours backup

For immediate danger call 911; for a jail-specific urgent fact call 812-547-2441. CPC video support is closed Sunday, SIRS publishes weekday service only and community providers may have limited intake, so save receipts and plan alternate transportation, food and lodging before a late release. 211 and 988 are community referral/crisis lines, not substitutes for jail confirmation.

Finding someone held here

Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Perry County Sheriff’s Office.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
