One Sheriff-operated adult county jail system at 160 N. Park Ave., including a separately administered work-release component. Excludes Court Services/Community Corrections supervision, youth, courts, municipal police, historic/closed jails, Indiana DOC prisons, BOP, ICE, hospitals and shelters.

  1. Confirm custody

Search the Sheriff-linked locator, retain the live ID and call 765-342-4303.

  2. Match the owner

Use CPC for communication, JailFunds for commissary and the court for orders.

  3. Confirm the last mile

Reserve Morgan County CONNECT both directions and verify the exact jail door.

PART 01

Confirm the adult Sheriff system

Separate custody, work release, supervision and every outside system.

Use the active adult jail at 160 North Park Avenue

Morgan County Jail is the Sheriff-operated adult county jail at 160 N. Park Ave., Martinsville, IN 46151; the jail information line is 765-342-4303. The Sheriff says the current system operates an adult jail and a work-release center. Intake, regular housing, medical housing, and classification are functions within this system, but they do not prove a particular person remains in the same unit.

Use this guide for adult Sheriff custody only. Work release is a separate program with its own administrator even though the Sheriff describes it inside the jail system. County Court Services/Community Corrections, juvenile probation, courts, municipal police, Indiana DOC prisons, BOP facilities, ICE detention, hospitals, shelters, and the historic 1890 sheriff's house/jail are not this route. An IDOC-sentenced person can remain temporarily under county-jail rules until transfer.

Search the Sheriff-linked custody portal, then verify by phone

Open the Inmate Locator from the Morgan County Sheriff jail page; it hands off to InmateInfo. Search the legal name and retain only fields the live result actually shows: exact name, inmate or booking ID, booking/release status, charges, bond, and case reference. Do not treat a court case or a saved screenshot as proof of a current bed.

If there is no result, retry spelling, hyphens, prior names, and a shorter first-name form; allow for booking, release, or transfer lag. Then call 765-342-4303. Use MyCase for the case, IDOC for state custody, BOP for federal prison, and ICE for immigration custody. Ask which identifier is required before mailing, depositing, or registering for a visit.

PART 02

Set up remote contact

Reconcile current visit instructions and prepare exceptions.

Prepare for remote-only family visitation and reconcile the schedule

The current Sheriff visitation page says family visits are remote only; onsite visiting has been replaced. It publishes one free 20-minute remote visit per inmate each week and a posted additional-visit rate of $0.20 per minute, requires scheduling at least 24 hours before the visit day, and sends visitors to InmateSales/CPC. Registration requires valid government photo ID showing the current and correct address. The published handbook instead describes ad-hoc visits every day at 9 a.m.–8 p.m. and 9–10 p.m., with no fixed schedule.

Because those instructions conflict, create the account and request approval early, then follow the live Morgan County choices in the platform and call 765-342-4303 before relying on a time. Jail staff may cancel when the person is in recreation, school, a program, work, lockdown, court, medical movement, discipline, or another activity. A canceled session is not a promise of replacement.

Confirm minors, ID exceptions and special visits before connecting

The published rule requires government photo ID with a current address and socially acceptable clothing. Sexually suggestive or revealing clothing and gang clothing or insignia are prohibited. Nudity, drug use, threats, gang symbols, recording, photographs, or improper conduct can end a session; the page warns that a violation can suspend visits for at least 90 days.

The public materials do not state the rule for minors on camera, maximum participants, alternate ID when an address is outdated, infant supplies, former-inmate/probation restrictions, disability accommodations for a visitor, clergy/family special visits, or long-distance exceptions. Ask the jail before registration if any applies. Attorney/legal communication is not described as a family visit and should be arranged through counsel and the jail.

Set up and troubleshoot CPC video without trusting old prices

Use InmateSales and the CPC app, select Morgan County, request approval, and verify the correct person. Test a camera, microphone, speaker, current app/browser, charging power, and stable high-speed internet before the session. The facility uses a blurred background and records/monitors family video. Never record the session yourself.

For an approval delay, frozen video, audio failure, disconnect, device/software problem, or refund question, preserve screenshots without private call content, the account email/phone, transaction ID, scheduled time, device, and exact error. Contact CPC at 877-998-5678; the handbook also tells people in custody to use phone option 5. The county also warns that rates may change, so treat the posted $0.20-per-minute figure as a published reference and confirm the live checkout total and minimum balance before paying.

PART 03

Keep communication, mail and money separate

Use the correct account, address, identifier and failure owner.

Keep phone funds separate and solve blocks with CPC

Combined Public Communications provides Morgan County inmate calls. Family and friends can create a prepaid account at InmateSales or call 877-998-5678; the county says major credit/debit cards are accepted online or by phone, and the main-lobby kiosk can accept deposits. The recipient hears an automated announcement and must follow its prompt to accept.

For no ring, early disconnect, missing credit, a rejected card, or a number that appears blocked, save the calling number, date/time, charge, transaction and error and call CPC. To block future jail calls, call CPC from the telephone attached to the number to be blocked. Calls, chirps, texts, kiosks and tablets may be monitored/recorded; do not use family calls for privileged legal strategy.

Sources: Morgan County Sheriff — Inmate Communication · Morgan County Jail Inmate Handbook, version 2024.02.05 · InmateSales transaction portal

Treat chirps, tablets and kiosks as monitored shared services

The handbook says shared tablets and wall kiosks support calls, video, forms, commissary orders, law library, religious and educational resources, books, and entertainment; access can depend on housing status and good standing. Chirping/texting and all device traffic may be monitored and recorded. A service being listed does not guarantee that every person or unit can use it at a given time.

Use InmateSales/CPC for communication balances and support, not JailFunds unless the task is commissary/trust. The current web page says commissary and communication accounts are separate and funds cannot transfer; the handbook contains contrary wording. Do not move or duplicate money to solve a device problem until CPC and the jail identify the correct ledger.

Send family mail to the Kentucky scanning address

Address ordinary friends-and-family mail exactly: [Name – Inmate ID #], Morgan County Jail, IN, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076. Include a return address. Mail is scanned offsite and delivered digitally; do not send it to 160 N. Park Ave. Ask the jail to confirm the inmate ID first.

Mail may not exceed 8½ × 11 inches and must pass a sheet-fed scanner. The handbook prohibits stamps, blank envelopes, stationery, currency, labels, stickers, homemade or musical cards, non-white paper/envelopes, raised decoration, liquid materials, internet printouts, colored pages, certain drawings, obscene/provocative or security-threatening content, and contraband. Noncompliant personal mail is destroyed rather than returned.

Use publishers for reading material and JailFunds for approved care packages

Newspapers, books, magazines, workbooks, and study guides must come directly from the publisher to [Name – Inmate ID], Morgan County Jail, 160 North Park Avenue, Martinsville, IN 46151. The handbook limits in-cell storage to two books, two magazines, one newspaper, two religious books, ten pictures and ten letters; excess-storage rules may cause removal.

Do not mail a homemade package or assume a retailer is an approved publisher. The Sheriff directs approved care-package orders to JailFunds for snacks, drinks, and hygiene items. The published sources do not state photo size/content rules for scanned incoming mail, package frequency, publisher return handling, or a full vendor list; verify before purchase because rejected personal mail may be destroyed.

Deposit only after confirming the person and the account

Commissary/trust deposits can be made at the main-lobby kiosk at 160 N. Park Ave., at JailFunds, or by phone at 855-836-3364. The county says the kiosk requires the inmate's first and last name; confirm the inmate ID too before paying. Online/phone service accepts cards. Money orders are not accepted.

Commissary is separate from CPC phone/video. Do not rely on the handbook's contrary transfer wording. Save the receipt and transaction ID. Fees, caps, cardholder-name rules, chargeback consequences, delivery day, order limit, release balance method, and deposit reversals are not published; ask JailFunds for the transaction and the jail for local posting/release rules.

PART 04

Protect health, safety and access

Relay urgent facts and use published internal protections.

Relay urgent medical facts to custody; the patient requests routine care

For a life-threatening event outside the facility call 911. For an urgent welfare concern about a person inside, call 765-342-4303 and give name/ID, symptoms, diagnosis, last known location, medication, allergies, timing, and your callback number; ask staff to route the facts to medical. Do not expect staff to confirm protected health details without authorization.

The handbook says booking includes medical screening, daily sick call is available, and routine medical/dental needs are submitted through the tablet/kiosk Health Service Request Form. Emergencies go to any officer immediately. Lack of funds does not block care, although the handbook describes copays; families should not promise a specific treatment or outside appointment.

Sources: Morgan County Jail Inmate Handbook, version 2024.02.05 · Morgan County Sheriff

Treat suicide or acute behavioral danger as urgent

If someone reports suicidal intent, self-harm, hallucinations, withdrawal danger, or an immediate threat, call 911 when the danger is outside and call the jail at 765-342-4303 when the person is inside. State the exact words or behavior, time, access to means, diagnosis, substances, and callback number; ask for the shift supervisor or health staff and document whom you reached.

The handbook says mental-health screening begins at booking and that routine requests use the Health Service Request Form. Published jail services include therapy, crisis intervention, substance-use treatment, and acute/chronic illness management, with no general mental-health copay; medication or outside treatment may be different. The county does not publish a family clinical-update or consent form.

Do not bring medication or glasses without advance approval

The handbook permits drop-off only for medication, pre-approved eyeglasses/contacts, and a pre-approved religious Bible; it does not publish a pharmacy door, hours, original-container rule, quantity, or who must pre-approve. Call 765-342-4303 before travel. Provide prescriber/pharmacy details and a current medication list, but never leave an item at an unconfirmed door.

Medical appliances prescribed by a physician may be retained unless they present a safety/security threat. For records or information sharing, the person in custody may need to authorize release; the public materials do not publish a HIPAA authorization, records vendor, copy fee, or family status-update process. Ask health staff through the jail for the current form and destination.

Sources: Morgan County Jail Inmate Handbook, version 2024.02.05 · Morgan County Sheriff

The person inside files the grievance; preserve the deadlines

The handbook says grievances cover conditions personally affecting the person in custody. A grievance generally must be filed within 10 calendar days; serious medical harm, personal injury, sexual abuse/harassment, or discrimination may be accepted outside that limit. Staff-misconduct complaints need no informal attempt. Emergency and PREA complaints may be verbal or written without using the ordinary formal sequence.

Level 1 goes to a shift supervisor with a stated 72-hour response; unresolved or appealed Level 2 goes to a lieutenant with a five-business-day response; Level 3 goes to the Jail Commander in a reasonable time. Families cannot file the inmate's internal grievance in the published process. Preserve dates, names, requests, responses and appeals; call the jail for immediate danger.

Sources: Morgan County Jail Inmate Handbook, version 2024.02.05 · Morgan County Sheriff

Request jail accommodations at intake and confirm visitor access separately

A person in custody should declare a disability and requested reasonable accommodation at receiving/classification, ask for a supervisor or medical staff, and submit a request form. Deaf/hard-of-hearing people should state the preferred communication method and need for an interpreter/deaf advocate. The communication page says TDD machines are available on request.

For a visitor, call 765-342-4303 before account setup to ask about effective communication, accessible remote technology, or another modification. The public jail pages do not name a jail ADA coordinator, language-access line, visitor complaint route, or response deadline. Morgan County's general ADA notice names a county coordinator at 765-342-5364, but applicability to jail operations must be confirmed rather than assumed.

Sources: Morgan County Jail Inmate Handbook, version 2024.02.05 · Morgan County Sheriff — Inmate Communication · Morgan County ADA coordinator notice · U.S. Department of Justice — ADA Title II

Report sexual abuse immediately; do not wait for the ordinary deadline

The handbook states zero tolerance and directs people in custody to report sexual abuse, harassment, or misconduct to any staff member using facility mechanisms. Emergency grievances involving imminent sexual abuse can be verbal or written and are not subject to the ordinary grievance restriction. In an immediate external emergency, call 911; for a person inside, call 765-342-4303 and ask for a supervisor.

Morgan County does not publish a dedicated external/anonymous family PREA hotline, third-party-report form, victim-advocate protocol, preservation instructions, or current audit on the pages reviewed. Do not substitute another county's PREA address. Preserve the exact allegation and time, avoid confronting an alleged perpetrator, and ask the jail how a third party can make a confidential report.

PART 06

Plan the last mile

Reserve county transit and verify the exact door.

Use the task-specific lobby and confirm parking before leaving

The verified jail destination is 160 N. Park Ave., Martinsville, IN 46151. Commissary and CPC kiosks are described in the main lobby; bonds use the bond lobby; property pickup uses the back bond lobby. These labels do not identify exterior doors on a published map. Call 765-342-4303 for the correct accessible/public entrance before travel.

No official jail source reviewed publishes visitor parking lot names, addresses, hours, accessible-space count, clearance, street restrictions, or a safe pedestrian route. Do not use the courthouse or historic jail as a landmark substitute. Ask the jail where to park for the exact task, whether the lobby is open, and whether someone with mobility needs can be dropped at the correct door.

Reserve Morgan County CONNECT both directions

INDOT identifies Morgan County CONNECT as the county public transit provider. Sycamore Services says it serves all Morgan County residents, travels throughout the county but not outside it, uses wheelchair-accessible vans, and requires a ride at least 24 hours ahead. Call 765-342-3007 and request 160 N. Park Ave., Martinsville.

This is demand-response service, not a fixed jail route or stop. Provide pickup, exact destination, appointment time/duration, mobility equipment/service animal, attendant, and return plan; confirm the public jail door and both legs. CIRTA publishes Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–5 p.m. hours. Fare values conflict within Sycamore's page, so confirm the current fare and payment method when booking.

PART 07

Keep neighboring programs distinct

Do not transfer adult-jail rules to separate programs or custody systems.

Keep work release and jail housing connected but operationally distinct

The Sheriff says the jail system operates a work-release center, and the handbook describes eligible participants leaving for approved private employment and returning after the shift. The work-release page names its own administrator at 765-342-4303 option 6 and office hours Monday–Friday 8 a.m.–4 p.m. Participation is approval-based; it is not ordinary jail visitation or a walk-in reentry service.

The page prints a work-release mailing ZIP of 46158, while the jail and City identify Martinsville as 46151. Do not mail or travel on the 46158 value without phone confirmation. Ask whether the program uses a separate door or housing area and which rules apply to a specific participant.

Court Services supervision is not a jail bed

Morgan County Court Services describes Community Corrections as 24/7 sobriety programming, electronic monitoring, community supervision, and case management for adult and juvenile clients. Its office is 65 N. Jefferson St., Martinsville, 765-342-1082, Monday–Friday 7:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. A person supervised there is not necessarily housed at the jail.

The handbook separately describes a Jail Community Corrections Worker Program for selected jailed participants. Do not merge that in-custody work assignment with community supervision. Eligibility, fees, reporting, sanctions, movement, and program placement are court/program decisions; confirm with the assigned officer and order.

Use a different system for youth, state, federal and immigration custody

Morgan County's adult jail page is not a youth facility. County Juvenile Probation provides family crisis intervention, youth prevention alternatives, supervision, and pre-adjudication work through Court Services; the public sources reviewed do not identify 160 N. Park Ave. as a juvenile detention site. Call Court Services at 765-342-1082 for the correct youth process.

For state custody use IDOC search; for federal prison use BOP; for immigration detention use ICE. The handbook says an IDOC-committed person still housed in the county jail follows county rules until transfer. No reviewed local source establishes Morgan County Jail as a BOP prison, dedicated federal detention center, or ICE detention facility.

Use notification and advocacy without exposing a survivor

The Sheriff victim-services page links Indiana SAVIN for confidential release/status notifications and says the Morgan County Victim Assistance Division provides referrals and criminal-justice guidance without fees. Register through the official service, keep contact information current, and still verify custody directly when safety depends on timing.

For domestic or sexual violence, the Sheriff lists Desert Rose and state victim resources; the Town of Mooresville page lists Desert Rose's 24-hour crisis line as 765-342-7673. Use 911 for immediate danger. Do not place a survivor's address, phone, travel plan, or shelter location in monitored inmate messages or family video.

Finding someone held here

Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.

Before you travel, pay, or mail anything

Get two things first: which facility the person is actually in, and their booking or ID number. Almost nothing works without them. Then check this facility’s current instructions — rules and service providers change.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
