Identity, lookup and contacts
Use the adult Sheriff jail at 332 E State Street
Huntington County Jail is the adult Sheriff jail at 332 E State St, Huntington, IN 46750. The jail line is 260-356-3110; it operates 24/7. The Sheriff administrative line at the same campus is 260-356-2520, so ask for the jail when the question concerns housing, visits, mail, property or release.
The county says the 1984 jail was designed for 99 people and historically averaged 100–105. Treat those as dated design/average context, not a live census or promise of current bed use.

Confirm present housing before paying or traveling
Search Huntington County in the state INjail portal. Record the exact booking name, inmate ID, booking date and displayed housing/status. MyCase can confirm the case and next hearing, but a docket does not prove present housing.
If there is no result, retry aliases and spelling, then call 260-356-3110. Ask whether the person is booked locally, released, transferred or held for another agency. Use IDOC, BOP or ICE only after the jail rules out local custody.

Route each question to the office that owns it
Call the jail at 260-356-3110 for custody, visits, mail, medical relay, property and release. Use CPC/InmateSales at 877-998-5678 for account setup and communications. The Clerk criminal line is 260-358-4817; Probation is 260-358-4841; Community Corrections is 260-359-3640.
Do not ask the Sheriff administrative line to interpret a court order or ask a provider to change jail rules.

Plan video and exceptions
Schedule, visitors and failures
Schedule CPC video at least 24 hours ahead
All published social visits use CPC video. Create an InmateSales account, choose Huntington County Jail and schedule at least 24 hours ahead. Visits are 25 minutes. Onsite lobby visits are free; remote visits are posted at $0.20 per minute. Visitors may have unlimited onsite and remote visits, but onsite is limited to one per day.
Published windows are: 8–11 a.m. Sun/Thu/Fri/Sat; 1–2 p.m. Sun/Mon/Thu/Fri/Sat; 2–4 p.m. daily; 6–8 p.m. Sun/Tue/Thu/Sat; and 8–10 p.m. Sun/Tue/Wed/Thu/Fri/Sat. Confirm the live schedule before travel.

Add every visitor before finalizing
Up to two visitors may be scheduled, and both must be added before the visit is finalized. Unauthorized visitors can cause termination. The inmate is responsible for being at the kiosk; staff do not send reminders.
The county does not publish minor/guardian proof, accepted IDs, alternate ID review, dress, belongings, infant supplies, disability exceptions or special/long-distance visit procedure. Call 260-356-3110 before booking if any applies.

Prepare the connection and preserve proof
For remote video, test camera, microphone, browser/app, power and connection before the 25-minute slot. Use the exact approved account and keep the confirmation and charge record. The county says visitors pay only for connected time if a visit ends early.
If the session fails, capture the time and error, contact InmateSales support and separately call the jail if housing, lockdown or kiosk availability may be involved. Refund timing, outage credits and appeals are not locally published.

Use each channel for its verified task
Calls, messages, mail and money
Use CPC/InmateSales for outgoing calls
Inmates place outgoing calls through Combined Public Communications. Create and fund the recipient account at InmateSales or call 877-998-5678; inmates may also buy phone time through commissary. The jail does not take phone messages.
Current local call windows, rate/tax details, blocked-number repair, voicemail, transfer and refund rules are not published. Save receipts and involve CPC for account problems and the jail for custody restrictions.

Keep Chirp/texting separate from voice and video
The visitation page says deposits may be made for Phones, Chirp texting and visitation through the provider. That establishes a communications account path, not local message hours, device availability, screening time or delivery guarantees.
Confirm the correct product under the person’s Huntington booking. Do not move money between products unless CPC confirms it; keep transaction IDs for duplicate charges or a transfer.

Send personal mail to the Kentucky scan address
Since January 1, 2024, friends-and-family mail must be addressed: [Inmate Name – Inmate ID], Huntington County Jail, IN, PO Box 76550, Highland Heights, KY 41076. Include a legible sender name and return address. Paper must be no larger than 8.5×11 inches, light-card-stock thickness or less and scanner-feedable.
Noncompliant mail may be destroyed. Do not send stamps, blank envelopes, stationery, cash/checks/currency, stickers, homemade or musical cards, colored paper/envelopes, glue, glitter, white-out, prohibited plans or coded/gang material.

Send verified legal mail to the jail street address
Attorney or legal-representation mail goes to [Inmate Name – Inmate ID], Huntington County Jail, 332 E State St, Huntington, IN 46750. The jail says privileged mail from attorneys, courts or government officials is inspected in the inmate’s presence.
Legal mail sent to the Kentucky scan address is listed for return. Certified mail requiring the inmate’s signature and postage-due mail are also return items. Counsel should confirm marking and delivery before sending originals.

Use publisher-direct publications and photo limits
Books, magazines and newspapers must come directly from the publisher, not a middleman. Ordinary packages require advance approval from the Jail Commander. Friends/family may include up to 10 photographs per package, printed on photo paper; internet printouts, colored pages and provocative content are not allowed.
The main page also lists Polaroids, nudity/suggestive content, gang or obscene material and photos larger than 4×6 as prohibited. Confirm a publication or package before purchase because rejection/return treatment differs by item.

Use the lobby kiosk or JailATM for commissary
Deposit through the brown lobby kiosk or JailATM. The kiosk accepts cash or debit/credit cards; cash is limited to $5, $10 and $20 bills and gives no change. The county also publishes CPC phone deposits at 870-627-5476. Commissary orders run Sunday–Thursday and deliveries Monday–Friday, excluding holidays.
The general jail page still says money orders and cashier’s checks are accepted, while the 2024 scan-mail rules prohibit currency/check forms in personal mail. Confirm any mailed-money route with 260-356-3110 before sending.

Protect health, safety and access
Medical, grievance, ADA and PREA
Relay urgent health information to the jail, not social channels
The jail identifies an in-house medical facility with a doctor and full-time nurse and names Quality Correctional Care as contractor. Call 260-356-3110 and ask how to relay time-sensitive diagnosis, allergy, withdrawal, pregnancy, mobility or suicide-risk information.
Expect privacy limits: staff may receive information without being able to disclose protected details. For an immediate life threat, state that it is urgent and request custody/medical escalation; 911/988 are community resources, not substitutes for notifying the jail.
Sources: Huntington County — Jail · Quality Correctional Care · 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Use direct safety language for crisis concerns
Tell jail staff exactly what was said or observed, when, and any known diagnosis, withdrawal risk or recent attempt. Ask that the information reach custody and medical staff. Record the call time and recipient.
The county does not publish its suicide-watch, detox, observation, family-confirmation or discharge-safety workflow. If no response is available, call the Jail Commander line again; do not send urgent information through ordinary mail or an inmate message.
Sources: Huntington County — Jail · Quality Correctional Care · 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline
Confirm medication, glasses and record procedures first
No local source publishes whether family may deliver prescription bottles, glasses, hearing aids, CPAP supplies or other medical equipment. Call 260-356-3110 before traveling; ask about packaging, prescriber/pharmacy verification, accepted entrance and receipt.
Medical-record authorization, copying fees and release timing are also unpublished. Ask the jail/QCC which custodian and authorization form controls; do not send protected records to the personal-mail scan address unless instructed.
Sources: Huntington County — Jail · Quality Correctional Care
Separate the incarcerated grievance from outside complaints
The jail does not publish its internal request/grievance form, emergency flag, response time or appeal. The incarcerated person should use the housing-unit request/grievance channel and retain dates and copies where allowed. Family can relay an urgent safety concern to 260-356-3110 but cannot file the person’s internal appeal by assumption.
For service-access concerns, county contacts are available through its directory; provider billing disputes stay with the vendor. Ask the Jail Commander which route applies before sending sensitive material.
Sources: Huntington County — Jail · Huntington County — Departments · Huntington County — Staff Directory
Request custody accommodations before the visit
Call the jail for wheelchair access, effective communication, interpreter, literacy help, service animal or other custody accommodation. The county Title VI plan lists county coordination contacts, but it does not publish a jail-specific ADA decision or appeal path.
HAT separately publishes accessible vehicles, attendants, service animals, alternate formats and ADA/Title VI complaint forms. A transit accommodation does not guarantee a final jail entrance path; confirm both.

Ask for the local confidential PREA route
Federal PREA standards apply to adult jails, but the reviewed Huntington sources do not publish a local coordinator, confidential hotline, outside reporting partner or third-party follow-up. For immediate danger, call 260-356-3110 and ask for supervisory action.
For a non-emergency report, ask the jail for its confidential PREA channel and how a family member may report. Do not infer that an ordinary grievance, provider support or county general email is confidential.

Coordinate case, counsel and release
Court, bond, property and records
Use MyCase and the correct court office
Use MyCase for the cause number, charges, hearings and orders, then call the court/Clerk for the record. Circuit Court’s official page links public case information; the Clerk criminal line is 260-358-4817. Court staff can explain filing and payment mechanics, not give legal advice.
A court case does not confirm jail housing, and a jail booking does not show every future hearing. Keep the booking ID and cause number separately.
Sources: Indiana Judicial Branch — MyCase · Huntington County — Circuit Court · Huntington County — Staff Directory
Use the appointed-counsel path, not jail social visiting
Check the case for counsel of record. If appointed counsel is not shown, ask the court or Indiana public-defender directory which local office handles the case. Family should not treat legal-mail delivery or a social video account as an attorney visit.
The jail’s reviewed pages do not publish attorney-visit hours or confidential remote-video procedure. Counsel should call 260-356-3110 before travel and use the legal-mail address for privileged correspondence.
Sources: Indiana Judicial Branch — MyCase · Indiana Public Defender Commission — Find a Public Defender · Indiana Judicial Branch — Self-Service Legal Center · Huntington County Jail — Inmate Mail · Huntington County — Jail
Follow the exact court order and payment type
The county explains cash, 10% cash, surety, split and own-recognizance bonds. Cash and 10% cash bonds use a cashier’s check or money order payable to the Clerk of Courts, or the posted credit-card service at 888-604-7888, location code 5098. The jail says it does not accept cash bond payments.
Confirm the live amount and permitted type in the court order before paying. Cash/10% money is held by the Clerk until case conclusion and may be reduced by court-ordered fines, costs or fees; a bondsman’s fee is nonrefundable.

Bring state ID and observe the 30-day deadline
An inmate may release property present at arrest, such as a phone, wallet or jewelry. Clothing and money are not released, and accumulated property must be mailed out at the inmate’s expense. The pickup person needs valid state-issued ID or a driver’s license.
For an IDOC transfer, the inmate names an authorized pickup person; if blank, only the inmate may collect it. Property is held 30 days after release, then may be disposed. Confirm pickup entrance and hours first.
Sources: Huntington County Jail — Inmate Property · Huntington County — Jail
Confirm every hold and the physical exit plan
A posted bond or court release does not guarantee immediate exit if another warrant, agency hold, transport or processing step remains. Ask the jail whether local release authority is complete and whether another agency controls the next move.
The county does not publish release door, notice timing, clothing, medicine, trust balance or after-hours pickup instructions. Arrange a flexible ride and call 260-356-3110 rather than waiting at an assumed door.

Use local referral lines without blending custody and supervision
Indiana 211 connects callers to food, housing, health, transportation and legal/social supports. Huntington County’s resource directory and United With Love provide local starting points. For court-ordered reporting, Probation is 260-358-4841 and Community Corrections is a separate program at 20 Victory Noll Drive, 260-359-3640.
Confirm ID, medication, property, chargeable phone and HAT ride before release. A community referral is not a jail discharge promise.

Send signatures through mail; use the court for case records
The jail will not carry paperwork or verbal messages. If a signature is needed, mail the document to the inmate and have it mailed back. An onsite notary is available for inmate use; tell the inmate not to sign until in the notary’s presence.
Use MyCase and the Clerk for case records. Ask the Sheriff which records request route applies to booking or jail records and what identification/fees are required.

Plan the trip to State Street
Parking, HAT, food and lodging
Confirm the public door and parking before leaving
Navigate to 332 E State St, Huntington, IN 46750, not the courthouse or Community Corrections. The reviewed jail page does not identify a visitor lot, accessible stalls, drop-off curb, screening entrance or after-hours path.
Call 260-356-3110 on the day of travel. Do not park in a restricted law-enforcement, transport or staff area; ask where video-visitation visitors enter.

Reserve both HAT legs and name the jail address
Huntington Area Transportation provides public door-to-door demand-response service countywide. Call 260-356-3006. The website says request rides 48 hours ahead, while the September 2024 handbook says by noon one business day before; book earlier and confirm the pickup.
Give 332 E State St as the destination and reserve the return trip. The current website posts $4/$5/$6 in-county rates; the handbook explains exact-change/tickets and map bands. No fixed jail stop, final-door escort or guaranteed same-day ride is published.

Check seven mapped 2026 HAT closures
The handbook closes HAT on named holidays and applies Friday/Monday observance when a holiday falls on a weekend. Seven mapped 2026 dates are: Jan 1, Apr 3, May 25, Jul 3, Sep 7, Nov 26 and Dec 25. Call 260-356-3006 because the handbook is dated September 2024 and emergency/unsafe-road closures can also occur.

Use downtown options and verify live hours
Nick’s Kitchen is at 506 N Jefferson St, 260-356-6618. Brick House Grill is at 19 W Washington St. Both are local options near central Huntington, but hours, seating and holiday closures can change.
Check the business directly before relying on a meal around a visit. The Visitors Bureau directory lists additional current choices.

Call the property before committing
Comfort Inn Huntington is at 2205 N Jefferson St, 260-356-3434. Super 8 is at 2801 Guilford St, 260-358-8888. These are planning options, not endorsements or promises of rate, room, accessibility or late check-in.
Confirm dates, total price, cancellation, accessibility and transportation directly with the property.

Separate systems and prepare
Boundaries, safety and first day
Keep the jail separate from nearby justice services
The adult Sheriff jail is 332 E State Street. Huntington County Community Corrections at 20 Victory Noll Dr, Probation at the courthouse, Huntington Police, courts, public health, youth systems and state/federal/immigration custody are separate.
Provider names—CPC/InmateSales, JailATM and QCC—describe task-specific vendors, not additional custody facilities.

Confirm the controlling agency without importing its rules
A person may be physically in the county jail while another court or agency has a hold. Local housing, mail, visits and property rules continue until transfer; the outside agency controls only the matter assigned to it.
The jail’s 99-bed design and 100–105 historical average are context, not a current census. QCC’s presence establishes a medical contractor, not every clinical procedure.
Sources: Huntington County — Jail · Quality Correctional Care · Indiana Judicial Branch — MyCase
Use notification and emergency channels separately
Indiana SAVIN can provide custody-status notifications. A notification is not a protection order or an emergency dispatch service. Call 911 for immediate danger and use the prosecutor/court for case-specific protective-order questions.
Do not ask the jailed person, provider or other family member to relay safety-sensitive information.
Sources: Indiana SAVIN · Indiana Judicial Branch — MyCase · Huntington County — Departments
Verify current jail enrollment locally
The county describes nutrition, medical staffing and jail operations, but the reviewed pages do not publish a current in-custody education, treatment, religious, work, library or reentry catalog. Ask jail staff what is available to the person’s housing/classification and how enrollment starts.
Drug Court, Probation and Community Corrections are separate court/community programs and must not be presented as universally available jail programming.

Build a verified handoff before pickup
Confirm release authority, outside holds, property, medication, trust balance, phone access and pickup door. Use HAT only with a confirmed reservation; it is not an on-demand jail shuttle. Indiana 211 and the county resource guide can help with shelter, food, health and transport referrals.
Record the reporting deadline and address for Probation or Community Corrections if ordered. Do not send someone to those offices merely because they left jail.

Finding someone held here
Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Huntington County Sheriff’s Office.

Before you travel, pay, or mail anything
Get two things first: which facility the person is actually in, and their booking or ID number. Almost nothing works without them. Then check this facility’s current instructions — rules and service providers change.
Clear information.
Clear boundaries.
Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.
Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?
No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.
Does posting bond mean the person comes home?
Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.
What should I confirm before visiting?
The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.
What if I find something that needs correcting?
Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
