  1. Confirm Sweetgum Road custody

Search the state portal and call 574-224-5630.

  2. Use the correct transaction

CIDNET for communications; JailATM for trust deposits.

  3. Reserve both travel legs

Call Fulton County Transpo at 574-223-4213; no fixed jail stop is published.

PART 01

Confirm the adult Sheriff system

Identity, lookup and responsible contacts

Use the current jail at 2006 Sweetgum Road

Fulton County Jail / Detention Center is the adult Sheriff facility at 2006 Sweetgum Road, Rochester, IN 46975. Call the jail at 574-224-5630; Sheriff administration is 574-223-2819. The Sheriff publishes a 24-hour lobby, while administrative offices are Monday–Friday, 8 a.m.–4 p.m.

Stale commercial listings that point to 815 Madison/Main are not the current jail. The courthouse at 815 Main and Probation/Community Corrections at 200 E 8th have different functions.

Confirm housing before paying, mailing or driving

Search the Indiana County Jail Public Portal by legal name and save the booking identifier, custody status, booking date and listed agency. Compare MyCase for the cause number and next hearing, but do not treat a court case as proof of present jail housing.

If no result appears, remove filters, try spelling variants and call 574-224-5630. Ask whether the person is at Sweetgum Road, released, transferred, held for another agency, or using a different booking name.

Send each question to the office that controls it

Use the jail line for housing, visits, mail, medical relay, trust, property and release. Use Sheriff administration for agency matters; Clerk 574-223-2911 for court records and bond case processing; Circuit Court 574-223-4339; Superior Court 574-223-3506; Probation/Community Corrections 574-223-4345.

Jail Commander Cathi Collins is listed, but the directory does not publish a direct number. Ask the jail switchboard for the responsible supervisor rather than sending health or legal details through ordinary provider messaging.

PART 02

Plan video visits and exceptions

Weekend lobby kiosks, remote setup and failures

All social visits are video; free lobby kiosks have weekend hours

The county says all inmate visits are by video and no contact visits are offered. Free lobby kiosks are available Saturday and Sunday, 8 a.m.–8 p.m. CIDNET also supports remote video, but the county does not publish remote hours, price, duration, frequency, advance-booking window or housing restrictions.

Create the account, select this Indiana jail and reconfirm the live session before travel. A free weekend kiosk does not prove a walk-in slot; call the jail if CIDNET does not show the person or a usable time.

Sources: Fulton County — Inmate Visitation · CIDNET Public Portal · Fulton County — Jail Division

Confirm ID, minors and accommodation details before arrival

Published rules require appropriate conduct and clothing; nudity can suspend future visits. They do not define accepted ID, visitor approval, minors or guardian documents, visitor count, late arrival, belongings, infant supplies, clergy, long-distance exceptions or accommodation lead time.

Before leaving, call 574-224-5630 and ask each question that applies. For the lobby and county public access, the county ADA coordinator is 574-223-2385; verify whether a custody-specific request must also go through jail staff.

Prepare CIDNET and separate account failure from jail cancellation

Use the CIDNET Public Portal named by the county. Before paying, confirm the account identity, Fulton County Jail in Rochester, the incarcerated person and the live total. Test camera, microphone, speaker and connection; save the confirmation and receipt.

The county does not publish refunds, rescheduling, provider outages, facility cancellations or remote technical support. For login/payment/device trouble use CIDNET; for lockdown, housing or availability call the jail. Document which side cancelled.

PART 03

Use each channel for its verified task

Calls, messages, mail and trust

Use the county’s collect, phone-card and CIDNET paths

The county confirms local and long-distance collect calls, phone cards purchased through commissary or by request form, and CIDNET telephone service. Outgoing calls are monitored; attorney-client calls are excluded from monitoring.

The county does not publish rates, schedule, account funding method, blocked-number remedy, voicemail, refund or transfer treatment. Confirm the product in CIDNET before funding. Ask the jail how counsel requests the unmonitored exception.

Sources: Fulton County — Inmate Phone Service · CIDNET Public Portal · Fulton County — Inmate Trust Fund

CIDNET messages are verified; other tablet products are not

The county assigns electronic messages to CIDNET. It does not publish message price, review time, photo rules, attachment limits, rejection notice, tablet rental, entertainment, education or legal-research access.

Choose only products shown for this facility in the live account. Do not send urgent medical, PREA or attorney information through ordinary messages; those need the responsible jail channel.

Sources: Fulton County — Inmate Visitation · Fulton County — Inmate Phone Service · CIDNET Public Portal

Follow the published envelope and content rules

Use the incarcerated person’s full name and confirm the complete address/identifier with the jail before mailing to Sweetgum Road. Incoming mail needs the sender’s name and address; missing sender information is confiscated and held with the person’s property until release. Mail between people in this or another jail/prison is prohibited.

Incoming mail is normally delivered Monday–Saturday except holidays and is inspected. No stickers, colored drawings/paintings or glitter. Prohibited items are held with property until release.

Sources: Fulton County — Inmate Mail Service · Fulton County — Jail Division

Get written approval before packages or publications

Packages require prior written consent from the Jail Commander; unauthorized packages are returned. The county says packages must be under $1.50 in postage and disclose contents and sender. Books and magazines must come directly from the publisher and require prior commander approval. No lobby items are accepted without written approval.

The page does not publish photo size/count, hardcover limits, subscriptions, approved vendors or rejection appeal. Ask for written approval before purchase and keep it with the order receipt.

Sources: Fulton County — Inmate Mail Service · Fulton County — Jail Staff · Fulton County — Jail Division

Use JailATM, the lobby machine or a confirmed money order

The county verifies three trust methods: the lobby deposit machine at any time, a money order by mail, and online JailATM. Confirm the person and facility before approval; the page does not publish accepted cards/cash, fees, limits, chargeback rules or the full money-order addressee/identifier format.

Trust funds may buy authorized food, clothing, hygiene, stationery, phone time and medical needs. On release, the remaining balance is issued by check. Ask about indigent supplies, deductions and what happens on transfer.

PART 04

Protect health, safety and access

Clinical relay, grievances, ADA and PREA

Relay urgent health information through the jail, not provider messages

For immediate danger in custody, call 574-224-5630, ask for the shift supervisor and medical team, and give full name, booking identifier, symptoms or exact statements, medications/doses, last dose, allergies, prescriber and pharmacy. Call 911 for an emergency outside the jail.

The county app references inmate medical information, but public pages do not identify the clinical contractor, family line, medication-delivery method or information-release form. Ask where to send a written summary and how receipt is confirmed.

Sources: Fulton County — Jail Division · Fulton County Sheriff Mobile App Flyer · Fulton County — Sheriff’s Office

Use exact words for suicide or behavioral-health risk

Report the exact concerning words, behavior, timing and last contact to the jail; say clearly that this is an urgent safety or mental-health concern. Do not wait for the next scheduled visit or message. Ask the supervisor to confirm the report was routed for assessment.

No local public source states suicide-watch communication, family follow-up or a mental-health contractor. Privacy may limit what staff disclose, but it does not prevent a family member from providing safety information.

Sources: Fulton County — Jail Division · Fulton County — Sheriff’s Office · Fulton County — Public Health · Indiana Department of Health — Fulton County Hospital Directory

Confirm medication, glasses and record workflows before delivery

Do not mail or carry prescriptions, inhalers, glasses, hearing aids or medical records without approval. Call the jail and ask whether staff needs a pharmacy transfer, prescriber verification, sealed records, authorized replacement or another method.

A 2024 county ordinance states a $15 medical/dental/eye/healthcare copay and $10 prescription copay. It does not establish the current waiver, indigency, emergency-care or discharge-medication rules; confirm those before relying on the figures.

Sources: Fulton County Commissioners Minutes / Medical Copay Ordinance — March 18, 2024 · Fulton County — Jail Division · Fulton County — Inmate Trust Fund

Use the internal jail process and preserve every step

IDOC says county-jail complaints and grievances must go to the Sheriff or the jail’s internal grievance/medical system; Jail Services does not resolve them. The local public pages do not state form, kiosk path, filing deadline, response time or appeals.

The incarcerated person should request the current procedure and keep copies, dates, receipts, responses and appeal steps. A family call may relay risk but may not replace the required internal filing.

Sources: IDOC — Operations Division / Jail Services · Fulton County — Jail Division · Fulton County — Jail Staff

Request jail access and county public-access help separately

For a custody accommodation, interpretation or effective communication, call the jail and ask for the responsible supervisor. For county public meetings/documents, the ADA/Title VI office is 574-223-2385 and publishes a 48-hour meeting-accommodation window.

The county grievance form is not proven to replace the jail’s inmate accommodation or grievance procedure. Record the request, functional need, response and any denial; ask for the custody appeal path.

Sources: Fulton County — ADA / Title VI · U.S. Department of Justice — ADA · Fulton County — Jail Division · IDOC — Operations Division / Jail Services

Treat sexual abuse or harassment as an immediate safety report

For immediate danger call the jail and ask for the shift supervisor; use 911 for an emergency outside. State that the report concerns sexual abuse, harassment or retaliation, and preserve names, booking number, place, date/time, witnesses and exact events.

The reviewed local pages do not publish a PREA coordinator, confidential hotline, third-party form or outside reporting partner. Ask staff for the current confidential and third-party channels. Do not substitute IDOC’s state-prison reporting system for this county jail.

PART 06

Plan the Sweetgum Road trip

Parking, demand-response transit, food and lodging

Use 2006 Sweetgum and confirm the public door

Navigate to 2006 Sweetgum Road, not downtown court addresses. The county facility listing identifies parking and ADA accessibility, but does not name a visitor lot, accessible-space count, drop-off point, weekend kiosk entrance, screening rules or step-free final path.

Before travel, call the jail for the correct public door, parking area and after-hours intercom. Do not block gates, staff parking or secure transport lanes.

Sources: Fulton County — Jail Division · Fulton County — Sheriff’s Office and Detention Center Facility · Fulton County — Sheriff’s Office

Reserve Fulton County Transpo both ways

Fulton County Transpo publishes demand-response service Monday–Friday, 7 a.m.–5 p.m. Call 574-223-4213 for an appointment. Published fares are $2 in town and $4 in county; riders 60+ may donate. Confirm fare, eligibility, booking lead time, payment, accessible vehicle and return trip.

No fixed jail stop, exact Sweetgum curb or safe final walk is published. Give the full address and ask whether the vehicle can use the public entrance. Weekend lobby visits fall outside published transit service.

Sources: Fulton County Transpo · INDOT — Indiana Public Transit Systems · INDOT — 2023 Public Transit Annual Report · Fulton County — Jail Division

Treat seven official closure dates as no-service planning checks

The operator page lists closures on 2026-04-03, 2026-05-25, 2026-07-03, 2026-09-07, 2026-11-27, 2026-12-24 and 2026-12-25. It also lists 2026-11-28 and 2027-01-01. Because the November dates do not align cleanly with the usual holiday calendar and Saturday is already outside weekday service, call before relying on the list.

These are operator statements, not reservations or proof of a jail-door trip. Book and reconfirm both legs.

Sources: Fulton County Transpo

Use a real address but confirm same-day hours

Rochester Bagel & Coffee House publishes 231 E 9th Street, Rochester and current hours on its site. It is a practical downtown food option near court services, not proof of food at the jail or on Sweetgum Road.

Check same-day hours and accessibility before depending on it. For food assistance rather than a purchase, Indiana 211 and United Ministries through Fulton County United Way are better starting points.

Sources: Rochester Bagel & Coffee House — Official Site · FSSA — Indiana 211 · Fulton County United Way — Supporting Agencies · Fulton County Chamber — Contact

Confirm property details before committing money

The official Wyndham property page lists Super 8 by Wyndham Rochester as a local lodging option. Use its live page to confirm address, phone, check-in, accessibility, taxes and cancellation before booking; do not assume a rate or room is available.

No reviewed source proves transit from the hotel to Sweetgum Road. Reserve a ride or verify a separate accessible travel plan in both directions.

PART 07

Keep systems separate and prepare forward

Boundaries, held populations, safety and first day

Keep jail, courts and supervision identities separate

The Sweetgum Road jail is adult Sheriff custody. The courthouse and Clerk at 815 Main, Prosecutor at 815 N Main, and Probation/Community Corrections at 200 E 8th perform separate legal or supervision tasks. Rochester Police and other municipal agencies may arrest but do not operate the county jail.

Youth detention, IDOC prisons, BOP prisons and ICE detention have their own systems. Search each only when custody evidence points there.

Verify the holding authority before using any rules

County minutes from 2024–2025 document Fulton housing people for Wabash or Grant County, IDOC and federal authorities. These are bounded populations inside the Fulton jail, not separate facilities at Sweetgum Road, and the dated counts do not establish today’s census.

Ask which agency controls transport, court, release and records. Use Fulton’s household operations while the person is housed there, but do not assume Fulton can change the outside authority’s hold.

Sources: Fulton County Commissioners Minutes — August 19, 2025 · Fulton County Commissioners Minutes / Medical Copay Ordinance — March 18, 2024 · Fulton County — Jail Division

Use notification and local advocacy as separate tools

Indiana SAVIN can support custody-status notification, but it does not replace immediate safety planning or a protective order. The Fulton Prosecutor at 574-223-6147 states that the office supports crime victims; its separate victim page still says information is coming soon.

For immediate danger call 911. Ask the prosecutor for the current victim advocate and case-specific notification path; do not rely on an incomplete webpage.

Sources: Indiana SAVIN / Victim Notification · Fulton County — Prosecuting Attorney’s Office · Fulton County — Victim Advocacy

Ask for the current jail program list and eligibility

The reviewed public jail pages do not identify education, substance-use treatment, faith services, work assignments, reentry classes, library, legal research or application rules. The Sheriff app may expose more current inmate information, but availability still needs housing-specific confirmation.

Ask the incarcerated person to submit a request for the current program list and eligibility. Community Corrections is a separate court program, not proof of programming inside the jail.

Sources: Fulton County — Jail Division · Fulton County Sheriff Mobile App Flyer · Fulton County — Probation and Community Corrections · IDOC — Community Corrections

Build a written first-day plan

Before release, write down the confirmed pickup point, backup ride, court date, supervision office, pharmacy, medication continuity, ID, food, safe housing and phone access. Woodlawn Hospital at 1400 E 9th Street, 574-223-3141 is the licensed community hospital; it is not the jail clinic.

Use Indiana 211 for changing local resources and Fulton County Transpo only after a ride is booked. A published schedule is not a reservation.

Protect the first transactions and contacts

  1. Confirm custody and booking identifier.
  2. Record case, court and next hearing.
  3. Create CIDNET only through the county-linked portal.
  4. Use JailATM only after matching the person and this facility.
  5. Confirm the exact mail label before sending.
  6. Reserve both transit legs and the public door.
  7. Document every payment, call and unresolved question.

Finding someone held here

Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Fulton County Sheriff’s Office.

Before you travel, pay, or mail anything

Get two things first: which facility the person is actually in, and their booking or ID number. Almost nothing works without them. Then check this facility’s current instructions — rules and service providers change.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
