Confirm the active adult Sheriff system
Identity, lookup and task-specific contacts
Use the active adult Security Center
Dubois County Security Center is the adult Sheriff jail at 255 Brucke Strasse, Jasper, IN 47547. “Dubois County Jail” and “Security Center” refer to this same adult county custody system. Call 812-482-3522; non-emergency dispatch is 812-482-9111.
The county still links the Sheriff’s older-format site, and the current county directory corroborates the Security Center number. Confirm volatile procedures by phone before travel or payment.

Search the live roster, then troubleshoot identity
Start with the Sheriff’s live JailTracker roster. Search spelling variants and hyphenated names; the roster may lag a recent booking, release or transfer. If there is no match, call 812-482-3522 with full legal name, date of birth and approximate booking date.
Cross-check Indiana MyCase for the court case. MyCase shows case events, not necessarily current physical custody. Use IDOC, BOP or ICE locators only after staff identifies a transfer outside county custody.

Use a task-specific contact
Security Center: 812-482-3522. Non-emergency dispatch: 812-482-9111. InmateSales visit support: 866-340-7879. CPC phone/refund support: 877-998-5678. Clerk: 812-481-7035.
Say the task first—custody, visit, phone account, case or transport—because the published support numbers are not interchangeable.

Plan contact and visits
Visits, exceptions, video, phone and unverified messaging
Create and schedule the video visit
The current Sheriff page directs visitors to InmateSales. Create or sign in to an account, choose the Dubois County facility and inmate, select remote or onsite video, enter the requested identity information, purchase minutes if required and schedule the visit. The published form asks for name, address, birthday and driver’s-license information.
The current page does not publish visit days, hours, duration, lead time, free allowance or onsite check-in location. Before traveling, call 812-482-3522 and ask which appointment types are active.
Sources: Dubois County Sheriff — Inmate Visitation · Combined Public Communications — InmateSales · Dubois County — Sheriff
Confirm ID, minors and exceptions before the appointment
The Sheriff’s visit image says children may visit only when accompanied by an adult and asks for driver’s-license information. It does not publish acceptable alternate ID, minor proof, guardian paperwork, age thresholds, dress code, cancellation rules, disability accommodations or attorney/clergy exceptions.
Call the Security Center before the appointment. Have the adult’s government ID, the child’s identifying document and any custody/guardianship order available, but do not assume a document will be accepted until staff confirms it.

Set up video on a supported device and isolate failures
Remote video needs a computer or internet-enabled mobile device with camera, speaker and high-speed connection. The published instructions point Windows/Mac users to Chrome and mobile users to the InmateSales app. Test camera, microphone, browser permission and connection before the start.
For login, purchase, scheduling or connection failure, record the error and transaction number and call 866-340-7879. For an onsite lobby or facility decision, call the jail; vendor support cannot override jail approval.

Fund calls without confusing the phone and visit products
CPC publishes Direct Pay, PIN Debit and Calling Cards through InmateSales. The Sheriff page lists local, in-state and out-of-state calls at $0.21 per minute; international calling card rates start at $1.00 per minute and vary. Taxes and fees may apply.
Direct Pay does not work with ringback tones. For refunds, account questions or talk-time purchases call 877-998-5678. Facility staff says it does not manage the lobby communications kiosk and cannot make change.

Do not assume text, email or tablet service
The reviewed Sheriff pages verify phone and video products but do not publish inmate email, text, voicemail, tablet, e-card or photo-message availability. A button in a vendor account is not proof that the product is enabled for this jail or this housing unit.
Ask InmateSales whether the product is active for the named person, then confirm any facility restriction with the Security Center before paying.

Send mail, publications, money and allowed property
Addressing, privilege boundaries and task-separated payment channels
Address personal mail exactly and use a return address
The Sheriff says mail is distributed within 24 hours after receipt and requires a return address. Address it to: Inmate Name, Dubois County Security Center, 255 Brucke Strasse, Jasper, IN 47546. The mail page uses ZIP 47546 while the Sheriff footer uses 47547; confirm the current postal ZIP before sending.
All nonlegal mail is searched. Mail from someone incarcerated at another correctional facility needs approval from both facilities.
Sources: Dubois County Sheriff — Inmate Mail · Dubois County Sheriff — official site · Dubois County — Sheriff
Verify privileged legal-mail markings before sending
The mail page distinguishes nonlegal mail for search purposes but does not publish attorney/legal-mail markings, address, sender credentials, opening-in-presence procedure, electronic legal-mail channel or rejection appeal. Counsel should call 812-482-3522 before sending time-sensitive privileged material.
Do not place family correspondence in an attorney envelope or label ordinary mail “legal”; follow the facility’s confirmed instructions.
Sources: Dubois County Sheriff — Inmate Mail · Dubois County — Sheriff
Send publications only through the stated channel
Magazines and newspapers must come from the publisher. Books must be purchased through Amazon.com. Individuals may not send books, magazines or newspapers. The Sheriff page does not publish binding, quantity, content or invoice limits, or rules for photographs, greeting cards and packages.
Before ordering, call the jail with title, format and seller. Keep the order record; do not treat an Amazon marketplace seller as automatically accepted.
Sources: Dubois County Sheriff — Inmate Mail · Dubois County — Sheriff
Use the published mail method; do not infer an online commissary vendor
The Sheriff permits money by mail and strongly recommends a money order or cashier’s check. Cash is accepted by mail but expressly not recommended; money is not accepted in person and personal checks are not accepted. Use the inmate’s full name and confirm any identifier/payee instruction before purchase.
The reviewed official pages do not identify an online trust/commissary vendor, deposit cap, posting time, fee, refund, debt deduction or release-balance method. The lobby kiosk described on the phone page is a CPC communications kiosk, not proof of a commissary deposit channel.

Bring only the narrow published property exceptions
Basic hygiene is provided; additional hygiene may be bought through commissary. The Sheriff says other accepted items generally must be new and unopened and remain subject to staff discretion: eyeglasses, contact lenses with unopened solution, and primarily white socks and underwear in unopened packages. T-shirts and underwire bras are not accepted.
Call before bringing anything. The page does not publish a drop-off window, quantity limit or property-release process.

Relay health concerns and preserve rights
Medical, mental health, medication, grievance, access and sexual safety
Relay urgent health information through the jail
No reviewed current jail page identifies the medical contractor, family message line, sick-call process, copay, emergency notification standard or outside-hospital policy. For an urgent medication or health concern, call 812-482-3522, identify the person and ask how to send information to clinical staff. Call 911 for an immediate community emergency.
Deaconess Memorial Medical Center is a community hospital, not a verified jail contractor.
Sources: Dubois County — Sheriff · Deaconess Memorial Medical Center — Jasper · Dubois County — Health Department
Use the jail for custody welfare concerns and community crisis resources outside
For suicide risk, withdrawal, psychosis or another immediate custody concern, call 812-482-3522, state that it is urgent and ask staff to document a welfare/clinical message. The jail does not publish a dedicated mental-health family line or confirmation procedure.
LifeSpring at 480 Eversman Drive, 812-482-3020, and its Hope Center at 812-562-HOPE (4673) are community resources, not proof of jail treatment or eligibility.
Sources: LifeSpring Health Systems — Locations · LifeSpring — Open Access · Dubois County — Sheriff
Ask how to verify medication; do not deliver it unannounced
The jail does not publish who may deliver prescriptions, packaging/pharmacy-label rules, controlled-substance handling, medication continuity or records authorization. Call before bringing medication and be ready with medication name, dose, prescriber, pharmacy and last dose.
For records or consent forms, ask which clinical custodian handles the request; neither the county Health Department nor community hospital should be assumed to hold jail charts.
Sources: Dubois County — Sheriff · Dubois County — Health Department · Deaconess Memorial Medical Center — Jasper
Ask for the incarcerated grievance route and preserve dates
No reviewed public jail page states grievance forms, informal resolution, deadlines, appeal levels, emergency grievances or family submission. The incarcerated person should request the current form and keep dates, names and response copies. A family member may call the Security Center to ask where an external concern is logged, but cannot assume that call exhausts the person’s internal remedies.
Sources: Dubois County — Sheriff · Dubois County — Title VI and ADA
Request disability or language access before the task
Ask the Security Center for the accommodation needed for a visit, call, written communication or release task. The county Title VI/ADA coordinator is Markie Rhodes, 812-481-7046, jmrhodes@duboiscountyin.org. County discrimination complaints may be written or verbal and should be made within 180 days; the county says it investigates within 60 days.
This county civil-rights route does not replace an incarcerated grievance or urgent safety request.
Sources: Dubois County — Title VI and ADA · ADA.gov — File a complaint · Dubois County — Sheriff
Use an urgent safety relay; ask for the current jail PREA route
The reviewed jail pages do not publish a jail PREA coordinator, third-party reporting address, anonymous channel or retaliation procedure. For immediate risk, call the Security Center, state that the concern involves sexual safety or retaliation and ask for supervisory/medical response. For a report that may involve staff, ask for an external or supervisory channel rather than leaving detail with an uninvolved vendor.
Do not use Community Corrections PREA materials as if they governed the jail.

Follow the case and prepare for release
Court, counsel, bond, property, holds, reentry and records
Track the case separately from custody
Use Indiana MyCase for docket events, then confirm with the assigned court. County directory numbers are Circuit Court 812-481-7020, Superior Court 812-481-7070, Clerk 812-481-7035 and Prosecutor 812-481-5725.
The courts and clerk are at One Courthouse Square, not at the jail. A hearing entry does not prove release or transport.

Find the assigned lawyer through the case or court
No current county page reviewed identifies a local public-defender intake office for family calls. Check MyCase for counsel, call the assigned court or clerk, or use Indiana Public Defender Council’s county-office guidance. The Indiana State Public Defender handles qualifying post-conviction matters, not ordinary trial representation.
For confidential attorney communication procedures, counsel should call the jail directly; do not use ordinary family video or mail for privileged content.
Sources: Indiana Public Defender Council — county public defenders · Indiana Judicial Branch — MyCase · Dubois County — Clerk of the Courts · Dubois County — Sheriff
Confirm the live bond and payment instructions
No reviewed current jail page publishes who accepts bond after hours, payment forms, card vendor, fees, release timing or refund rules. Check the signed order/MyCase, then call the Clerk during office hours or the Security Center for after-hours direction. Ask for the exact amount, bond type, payee, location and receipt.
Do not infer that InmateSales or the communications kiosk accepts bond.
Sources: Dubois County — Clerk of the Courts · Indiana Judicial Branch — MyCase · Dubois County Sheriff — Inmate Money · Dubois County Sheriff — Inmate Telephone Services
Confirm a property release before sending a recipient
The items page does not publish release authorization, pickup hours, accepted recipient ID, abandoned-property deadline or transfer storage. Have the incarcerated person ask staff how to authorize release, then call the jail to confirm time, entrance and identification before travel.
Sources: Dubois County Sheriff — Items Accepted · Dubois County — Sheriff
Verify release, holds and pickup directly
Roster disappearance is not a release guarantee. Call the Security Center and ask whether release is authorized, whether another county/state/federal/immigration hold remains, where property and medication are returned and whether pickup is permitted. Do not promise a time until staff confirms all holds and processing.

Build a verified release-day plan
Before release, confirm time window, clothing/property, medication continuity, ID, supervision address and transportation. Dubois County Community Corrections publishes a community resource list, but it is a separate agency and its programs are not automatic jail discharge services. Indiana 211 can help locate current shelter, food, treatment and benefits.

Route requests to the correct records custodian
Court filings go to the Clerk; police/incident or jail-administrative records require a request to the responsible Sheriff/county custodian; medical records require the clinical custodian and authorization. Ask about fees, redaction, identity proof and format before paying. A MyCase printout is not a complete jail or medical record.

Reach the correct public-facing location
Entrance, parking, demand-response transit and seven planning dates
Confirm the public entrance and parking before arrival
Navigate to 255 Brucke Strasse, not the Courthouse or Community Corrections next door. Reviewed official pages do not identify the public lobby door, visitor parking stalls, after-hours entrance, security screening, accessible route or drop-off curb. Call before leaving and ask which door and lot apply to the task.

Reserve Ride Solution in both directions
Ride Solution provides public door-to-door service in Dubois County. Call 812-254-3225. Service is published Monday–Friday, 6 a.m.–6 p.m.; reserve at least 24 hours ahead when possible. Same-day rides depend on space and may add a fee.
Published base fares are $2 in-town, $4 in-county and $6 county-to-county, plus $1 per additional stop, exact change; confirm live fare. Give 255 Brucke Strasse and reserve the return. No fixed jail stop or exact secure-entrance curb is published.

Treat seven dates as planning checks, not bookings
For September 30 and October 1, 2, 5, 6, 7 and 8, 2026, the published weekday window is 6 a.m.–6 p.m. Each ride remains unbooked and capacity-dependent. Confirm holiday/weather changes, accessibility, exact pickup time, the correct public curb and the return trip with dispatch.

Use local supports without crossing facility boundaries
Food, lodging, exclusions and victim safety
Use nearby food only as a same-day planning option
Official business pages list Subway at 620 W 6th Street, 812-481-2700, and Schnitzelbank at 393 3rd Avenue, 812-482-2640. These are community businesses, not jail vendors.
Check live hours, accessibility and transportation before leaving the jail area; do not rely on a posted restaurant hour for a time-critical visit.

Confirm lodging price and accessibility directly
Clarion Pointe is listed at 272 Brucke Strasse, adjacent in the same corridor; Hampton Inn Jasper is at 355 Third Avenue, 812-481-1888. Neither is affiliated with the jail.
Confirm rate, taxes, cancellation, parking, accessibility, distance to the correct jail entrance and late arrival directly. Proximity does not mean a safe pedestrian route is documented.

Keep adjacent and outside systems separate
257 Brucke Strasse is Dubois County Community Corrections, a separate 170-bed residential/work-release, home-detention and pretrial system. Emergency Management is a county office at the 255 campus, not a custody unit. The Courthouse and Probation are at One Courthouse Square. Municipal police, youth custody, IDOC, BOP and ICE systems have different rules.
Do not import Community Corrections PREA, visitation, release or program rules into the adult Sheriff jail guide.

Use victim notification and safety channels separately
Indiana SAVIN/VINE provides custody-event notification; it does not guarantee exact release time. Dubois County Victim Assistance publishes SAVIN help at 866-891-0330 and Crisis Connection’s 24-hour hotline at 800-245-4580. Call 911 for immediate danger.
Do not give a protected address or safety plan to an incarcerated person, public roster or unrelated vendor.

Finding someone held here
Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.

Before you travel, pay, or mail anything
Get two things first: which facility the person is actually in, and their booking or ID number. Almost nothing works without them. Then check this facility’s current instructions — rules and service providers change.
Clear information.
Clear boundaries.
Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.
Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?
No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.
Does posting bond mean the person comes home?
Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.
What should I confirm before visiting?
The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.
What if I find something that needs correcting?
Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
