PART 01

Confirm the adult Sheriff system

Separate custody, lookup and responsible contacts

Use the adult Sheriff jail at 301 E Walnut Street

Clinton County Jail is the adult Sheriff custody system at 301 E Walnut St, Frankfort, IN 46041. The county also places 24-hour Central Dispatch in the lower level of the Sheriff building; dispatch is not a visiting or deposit counter.

For inmate information use the county-published 765-659-6396. Public pages disagree on other Sheriff/jail numbers, so verify the purpose of a number before relying on it.

Confirm custody before paying, mailing or traveling

Search the Sheriff roster and the Indiana County Jail Public Portal with the full legal name. Save the displayed spelling, booking number, housing field, arrest agency and court/cause number. A court case on MyCase does not prove current housing.

If there is no result, retry fewer fields and alternate spellings, then call 765-659-6396 with the date of birth, arrest date and arresting agency. Check IDOC, BOP and ICE separately only when county custody is not established.

Route each question to its responsible office

Use 765-659-6396 for current inmate information. The county lists Sheriff administration, civil/criminal records, dispatch, courts, clerk, probation and prosecutor separately. Call 911 for an emergency and 765-654-5563 option 1 when a Sheriff or town marshal response is needed but it is not an emergency.

Do not send medical, identity, payment or attorney-confidential facts through a generic web form. Ask the jail for the approved channel and recipient.

PART 02

Prepare for verified visiting

Do not import an unofficial schedule

Confirm the current visit mode and schedule directly

No reviewed current Sheriff page publishes Clinton’s visiting days, housing schedule, check-in cutoff, duration, frequency or whether visits are onsite, remote or both. Do not use the detailed pod schedule reproduced by commercial directories without jail confirmation.

Call 765-659-6396 before registration or travel. Ask for the person’s current housing unit, visit mode, scheduling channel, approval deadline, arrival time and public entrance.

Sources: Clinton County Sheriff’s Office — Home · Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers

Verify ID, minors and exceptions before departure

Current local rules for the visitor list, accepted ID alternatives, minors and guardianship, dress, belongings, infant supplies, late arrival, long-distance visits, clergy and disability accommodations were not published in reviewed official sources.

Ask the jail about each item for the specific date. If staff directs you to CPC, CPC’s general account rule calls for a clear shoulder-up photo and a matching driver license, state ID or passport; that does not replace Clinton approval.

Sources: Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers · Combined Public Communications — Friends and Family FAQ · U.S. Department of Justice — ADA

Use only a provider account that lists Clinton live

Commercial directories identify InmateSales/CPC for Clinton video, but no current reviewed Sheriff page confirms that assignment or the local schedule. Before paying, locate Clinton County, Indiana in the live provider facility selector and confirm with the jail.

If confirmed, the InmateSales app schedules visits and InmateSales View completes remote sessions. Save the approval and transaction ID; for token, password, camera or failed-session problems use CPC support and ask the jail about facility cancellations.

PART 03

Keep every channel task-specific

Calls, messages, mail and trust money are different

Do not fund a call account until the provider is confirmed

No reviewed Sheriff page names the current voice-call provider. Ask the jail which provider appears for the person today and which identifier it needs. Do not assume that a provider used for video, messaging or commissary also handles voice calls.

If Clinton appears in InmateSales, Direct Pay belongs to the family and reaches one number; PIN Debit belongs to the incarcerated person and can reach multiple numbers. CPC says collect calling is unavailable, cards may carry fees, and support needs the transaction ID for transfers or refunds.

Sources: Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers · Combined Public Communications — Friends and Family FAQ · Combined Public Communications — Prepaid Calling Options · Combined Public Communications — Spanish FAQ

Treat messaging and tablet access as unverified local services

CPC publishes Chirper and tablet features generally, but local Clinton availability, device assignment, message rate, photo review and monitoring limits were not confirmed by the Sheriff. A provider marketing page is not a local entitlement.

Confirm the live facility menu before purchase. For a missing service or wrong facility, contact provider support; for content rejection, access restriction or housing eligibility, call the jail.

Sources: Combined Public Communications — Friends and Family FAQ · Combined Public Communications — App Connect · Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers

Confirm the current personal-mail destination and format

No reviewed current Sheriff page publishes a personal-mail address, required booking identifier, envelope format, scanning vendor or rejection disposition. Do not infer that the physical address is also the personal-mail destination.

Call 765-659-6396 immediately before mailing. Ask the exact name/ID line, postal address, sender-address rule, paper and envelope limits, whether originals are destroyed, and how rejection notice or return works.

Sources: Clinton County Sheriff’s Office — Home · Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers

Do not mail books, photos or packages on assumptions

Current Clinton limits for photographs, greeting cards, books, magazines, newspapers, publisher-only shipments, packages and prohibited content were not published in reviewed official sources.

Ask whether each item must come directly from an approved publisher or vendor, what binding and quantity are allowed, whether a return label is required, and what happens to rejected originals. A commissary deposit link does not prove a care-package program.

Sources: Clinton County Sheriff’s Office — Commissary · Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers

Use the Sheriff’s verified trust-account channels

The Sheriff accepts cash or cards at the front-lobby kiosk 24/7, online deposits through JailATM, and mailed money orders or cashier’s checks. On the pay line write CCSO/Inmate’s Name; print your name on the submitter line and mail to CCSO/Inmate — 301 E Walnut Street, Frankfort, IN 46041. Torn, ripped or improperly completed instruments are rejected.

Online JailATM fees appear before confirmation; supported cards are Visa and Mastercard and posted limits may vary by facility. Save the receipt. Do not use CPC for commissary deposits.

PART 04

Protect health, safety and access

Use urgent relays and keep unpublished procedures explicit

Relay urgent health facts to custody staff, not a public inbox

No reviewed official source names the jail medical contractor, family clinical line, sick-call process, copay, hospital-transfer rule or authorization form. Call the jail with the full name, booking identifier, condition, symptoms, onset and risk; call 911 for an immediate community emergency.

Ask staff to document the relay and name the clinical decision-maker. IU Health Frankfort’s emergency department is a community hospital, not the jail medical unit and cannot disclose custody care.

Sources: Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers · Clinton County — 911 Central Dispatch · IU Health Frankfort Hospital · IU Health Emergency Medicine — Frankfort

Escalate suicide or behavioral risk with concrete facts

For immediate danger call 911. Otherwise call the jail and state the person’s name, booking identifier, exact words or behavior, access to means, diagnosis, recent discharge, medications and a safe callback number. Ask for a welfare check and how confirmation will be returned.

988 and Healthy Communities are community resources; they do not replace jail notification or control housing. The jail’s internal mental-health contractor and family follow-up path remain unpublished.

Sources: Clinton County — 911 Central Dispatch · Clinton County Health Department · Healthy Communities of Clinton County · Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers

Confirm medication delivery and release-of-information rules

No reviewed local source states whether family may deliver prescription bottles, eyeglasses, contacts, CPAP equipment or records, or where and when delivery is accepted. Do not bring an item without prior approval.

Ask for the clinician’s preferred pharmacy/record method and the exact authorization needed before staff can discuss protected information. A power of attorney does not automatically require clinical disclosure.

Sources: Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers · Clinton County Health Department

Ask for the internal grievance path and retain proof

Clinton does not publish the jail grievance form, informal step, filing deadline, appeal level, emergency grievance or outside review route. Indiana Jail Services says county-jail complaints and grievances go to the Sheriff department or the jail’s internal grievance/medical system; the state inspection division does not process them.

Ask custody staff how the person obtains and tracks a form. Preserve dates, names, request numbers and copies; use the Sheriff administration/records contacts for records questions, not to bypass an internal remedy.

Sources: Indiana DOC — Operations Division / Jail Services · Clinton County — Dispatch Contact Numbers

Request disability and language access early

Ask the jail for its ADA coordinator, request form and appeal path; those jail-specific details are not published. Describe the functional need, requested aid, visit or program affected and deadline. The county’s meeting notice uses 48 business hours, but that notice is not a jail policy.

For Spanish victim services, the Prosecutor lists a bilingual assistant. CPC also publishes Spanish account help if CPC is confirmed for the task. Neither source proves 24-hour jail interpretation.

Sources: U.S. Department of Justice — ADA · Clinton County Commissioners — Meeting Accessibility Notice · Clinton County Prosecutor — Victim Assistance · Combined Public Communications — Spanish FAQ

Report sexual abuse through a verified live channel

No reviewed Clinton source publishes a PREA hotline, outside reporting address, third-party report form or investigator contact. In an immediate emergency call 911; otherwise call the jail or Sheriff administration and ask for the PREA reporting channel without sending sensitive facts through an unsecured form.

Ask how a family member may make a third-party report, whether it can be anonymous and how retaliation concerns are escalated. The federal PREA page explains the framework but does not receive a Clinton facility report.

PART 06

Plan the downtown arrival

Confirm entrance, curb-to-curb ride and live services

Verify the public entrance and parking before arrival

Navigate to 301 E Walnut St, Frankfort, but confirm which door serves visits, deposits, property or release. Reviewed official sources do not publish a visitor lot, accessible spaces, lobby security, after-hours entrance or curb/loading point.

The lobby commissary kiosk is described as 24/7; that does not prove every lobby service is open continuously. Leave prohibited items in the vehicle and call ahead for mobility accommodations.

Sources: Clinton County Sheriff’s Office — Home · Clinton County — 911 Central Dispatch · Clinton County Sheriff’s Office — Commissary · Clinton County Commissioners — Meeting Accessibility Notice

Reserve county curb-to-curb transit and confirm the jail trip

PPRC Clinton County Transit serves residents of any age countywide as curb-to-curb public transportation. Call 765-659-4060 Monday–Friday 7 a.m.–4 p.m.; request at least 24 hours ahead and provide name, birth date, phone, both addresses and arrival/pickup times. Local round-trip suggested donation is $8.

Ask for both legs, exact safe curb at 301 E Walnut, accessibility and escort needs. Service is first-come, space-available; there is no published fixed jail stop and no reservation is guaranteed.

Sources: Paul Phillippe Resource Center — Clinton County Transit · INDOT — Indiana Public Transit Systems

Use seven dated calls as planning checks, not bookings

The seven listed weekdays are prompts to ask PPRC whether space exists for the rider, jail purpose and both directions. PPRC publishes a reservation phone window, not a date-by-date availability calendar.

Be ready 15 minutes early; the vehicle may arrive 15 minutes before or after. Cancel at least one hour ahead. A no-show cancels later trips that day until the rider confirms the schedule.

Sources: Paul Phillippe Resource Center — Clinton County Transit

Use nearby food only after checking live hours

For a quick downtown option, Domino’s lists 304 W Walnut St and Arni’s lists 12 E Washington St. Nickel & Rye lists 58 N Main St. These are community businesses, not jail services.

Check live hours, accessibility, payment and order status before walking or driving. Do not leave a visit line or park at the jail based on restaurant availability.

Sources: Domino’s Frankfort · Arni’s Restaurant — Locations · Nickel & Rye — Frankfort

Confirm lodging directly; no jail rate is promised

IU Health’s local visitor page lists Super 8, 1875 W IN 28, 765-670-6068 and La Quinta Inn & Suites, 2150 W Holiday Road, 765-659-4400. They are not within the jail building and no Jail411 rate or availability is claimed.

Call the property for same-day price, taxes, accessibility, check-in ID, cancellation and transport to 301 E Walnut. Do not assume a hospital-family discount applies to jail visitors.

PART 07

Keep systems and safety routes distinct

Do not transfer adult-jail rules

Keep adult jail rules away from other systems

This guide covers adult Sheriff custody at 301 E Walnut only. Community Corrections at 400 E Clinton, probation, courts, city police, youth detention, IDOC prisons, BOP, ICE and neighboring jails have separate eligibility, contact and release rules.

The same 301 E Walnut building also houses Central Dispatch. Physical co-location does not make dispatch a custody counter. A federal contract population, if present, remains under a distinct legal authority; verify the custodian before action.

Use bilingual victim assistance and live custody alerts

Clinton Victim Assistance offers court accompaniment, date and plea notification, no-contact-order help, restitution help and release-right guidance at 765-659-6351. A bilingual victim assistant is published.

Register with VINE for status alerts, but call 911 for immediate danger and confirm release directly. Do not rely on family access to an incarcerated person for safety planning.

Finding someone held here

Use the county system for a recent arrest. A state corrections search covers people in state custody. It generally will not list someone booked into a county jail this week. Bookings, bail, release, and visiting are all handled by Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

Before you travel, pay, or mail anything

Get two things first: which facility the person is actually in, and their booking or ID number. Almost nothing works without them. Then check this facility’s current instructions — rules and service providers change.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
