Confirm the person is in this jail before you drive, mail a letter, or send money.

Public roster

Santa Barbara County Sheriff Who’s in Custody

Official Who’s in Custody (checked 2026-09-12): sbsheriff.org/home/who-is-in-custody/. Search first name, last name, or inmate number (CID). Jail411 does not host inmate names. You need the booked name and CID for TouchPay and mail. Housing must be this Calle Real jail — not Northern Branch Jail in Santa Maria, not the Juvenile Justice Center. Call (805) 681-4260. CIRIS is CDCR. BOP locator is FCC Lompoc.

Before you leave home

Three things to confirm before the trip.

Confirm the person is at Main Jail. Visiting is non-contact on the South County housing-unit schedule — not ViaPath at Northern Branch and not the Juvenile Justice Center.

  1. 01Confirm Main Jail

    Search sbsheriff.org/home/who-is-in-custody/ or call (805) 681-4260.

The roster must show this jail. If the person is at Northern Branch, use 2301 Black Road, Santa Maria, ViaPath, and (805) 554-3100. If Gionfriddo JJC, use 4263 California Blvd — not this door.

  2. 02Be on the list

The incarcerated person submits visitor names.

Official Visit an Inmate (checked 2026-09-12): four visitors on the list at one time; the list updates the last 7 days of the month and the first 7 days in custody. Maximum two visitors (including children) at one time. Minors with parent or legal guardian. Incarceration in the last 12 months or felony probation bars a visit. PC §4571: prior state-prison commitment needs written Facility Commander permission before you enter jail grounds.

  3. 03Arrive at 4436 Calle Real

Main Jail / IRC public entrance. Not HQ at 4434, not 2301 Black Road.

Check in 15–30 minutes early; no later than the 15-minute mark or the visit is cancelled. Bring accepted photo ID and keys only. Cell phones can draw a citation and a one-year visiting ban. Call (805) 681-4260 before you drive.

01 / Visiting

Santa Barbara County Main Jail visiting hours.

Official Visit an Inmate (checked 2026-09-12): social visits are non-contact through a window with handsets. Inmates are limited to two visits per week at South County. Three PDFs: Main Jail (VisitingSBJFinal02072024.pdf), IRC (Revised-IRC-Visitation-Schedule.pdf), Northwest (SBJ-NW-VISITATION_221121-.pdf). 10:00–11:45 a.m. is closed on the Main Jail PDF. Read the housing location on Who’s in Custody. Call (805) 681-4260 because days can change. Housing moves, lockdowns, and staff can cancel visiting without notice. If Who’s in Custody shows Northern Branch or the Juvenile Justice Center, do not come here.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
