Different places to start.

A Marin County arrest usually means the county jail. A state sentence, a federal case or an immigration hold means a different system with its own locator and rules.

How do I find someone in Marin County custody?

Use the official Marin County Jail Public Booking Log linked on this page. If the person is not listed or the booking is recent, call (415) 473-6655 and ask which facility currently holds them.

Which adult jail should I use?

The guide lists Marin County Jail. Use the facility shown in the current custody record, not simply the closest building, and reconfirm before traveling or sending anything.

What should I confirm before visiting?

Custody Division FAQ (checked 2026-09-12): schedule 24 hours in advance at marincountyca.gtlvisitme.com/app, the GTL Vismobile Android app, by calling 855-208-7349, or the lobby kiosk. Walk-up visits are not accepted. One 30-minute onsite visit per day and one 25-minute video visit per day. Weekday slots 9:00 a.m., 9:40, 10:20, 1:00 p.m., 1:40, 2:20, 5:45, 7:00, 7:40, 8:20, 9:00 p.m. Weekend slots 9:00 a.m., 9:40, 10:20, 2:00 p.m., 2:40, 3:20, 5:45 p.m. Door is 13 Peter Behr Drive — not Sheriff HQ at 1600 Los Gamos and not Juvenile Hall.

Where should I send mail?

Sheriff Detention Bureau still links the Pigeonly rollout PDF (checked 2026-09-12; process effective May 2, 2022): non-legal letters, cards, postcards, 4x6 photos (limit 10), and unbound newsletters go to Inmate Name – ID Number, Marin County Jail – 1102, PO Box 96777, Las Vegas, NV 89193. Legal mail, official IDs/documents/checks, and publisher/bookstore magazines, newspapers, periodicals, and soft-cover books go to Inmate Name – ID Number, Marin County Jail, 13 Peter Behr Drive, San Rafael, CA 94903. Do not send adult-jail Pigeonly or Access Corrections money to Juvenile Hall (16 Jeannette Prandi Way) or San Quentin (100 Main Street).

How do phone calls and commissary money work?

Phone service: GTL / ConnectNetwork. Commissary or deposit service: Access Corrections / Keefe (marinpackages.com). Confirm the current facility and account type before paying.

Do youth use the adult jail rules?

No. Marin County Juvenile Hall is handled through Marin County Probation Department. Marin County Probation operates this hall at 16 Jeannette Prandi Way. Official What to expect page (checked 2026-09-12): not jail; youth ages 12–18; hall (415) 473-6705; Juvenile Division (415) 473-6659. Visiting is parents/guardians only — schedule (415) 473-3293. Do not use Pigeonly, Access Corrections, GTL VisitMe, or ConnectNetwork. Jail411 handbook is the youth page.

Does posting bail guarantee release?

Confirm custody on the Booking Log, then post cash, a postal/bank money order to the Clerk of the Court, a California surety bond, or GovPay (888-604-7888, govpaynet.com). Jail accepts bail 24 hours a day. Exact bail: (415) 473-6653 (Detention Bureau warning: the log amount may be an approximation). No personal checks. Marin Superior Court Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedules (2026 PDFs on marin.courts.ca.gov). Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a hold applies. Sheriff Immigration page (checked 2026-09-12): MCSO does not honor ICE civil detainers and does not transfer for civil immigration without a judge-signed warrant or court order. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6). This is the process, not a bondsman directory.

How do I report a correction?

Use Jail411's contact page and include the page URL plus an official agency source. Do not send private booking documents, medical records, or other sensitive personal information.
