Different places to start.

A Humboldt County arrest usually means the county jail. A state sentence, a federal case or an immigration hold means a different system with its own locator and rules.

How do I find someone in Humboldt County custody?

Use the official VINELink California person search linked on this page. If the person is not listed or the booking is recent, call (707) 441-5159 and ask which facility currently holds them.

Which adult jail should I use?

The guide lists Humboldt County Correctional Facility. Use the facility shown in the current custody record, not simply the closest building, and reconfirm before traveling or sending anything.

What should I confirm before visiting?

Official Visiting Inmates page (checked 2026-09-12): non-contact, first come first served, by housing unit at 901 5th Street. Visitor Request Form in the lobby at least 30 minutes before the session, with ID. At least two 30-minute visits per week; one session per day. Call (707) 441-5159 for the unit before you drive. Times can be cancelled. Two visitors; under 18 with parent/guardian and birth certificate.

Where should I send mail?

Official Inmate Information page (checked 2026-09-12): mail to Inmate's Full Name c/o Humboldt County Correctional Facility, 901 5th Street, Eureka, CA 95501. That is the visitor lobby — not Sheriff HQ at 826 4th Street, not 825 5th Street (courthouse), not 421 I Street (clerk), not Juvenile Hall at 2006 Harrison. Return first and last name required. Publisher newspapers/magazines/softcovers; handbook also allows Amazon, Walden Books, Barnes & Noble. Money orders OK; no cash or personal checks.

How do phone calls and commissary money work?

Phone service: no provider was confirmed on the reviewed official pages. Commissary or deposit service: Access Corrections / Access Securepak. Confirm the current facility and account type before paying.

Do youth use the adult jail rules?

No. Humboldt County Juvenile Hall is handled through Humboldt County Probation — Detention Services. Official Detention Services page (checked 2026-09-12): Humboldt County Juvenile Hall houses youth. Not the adult jail. Do not use 901 5th Street mail, Access Corrections, or adult visiting. Visiting Wednesdays 5:00–6:00 p.m. and Saturdays 12:15–1:15 p.m.; other times only through the assigned probation officer. Pat-down / metal detector. No purses, bags, weapons, alcohol, food/drink, cell phones, cameras, pets, or tobacco. Three phone calls at booking (parent/guardian/relative, attorney, employer); after that, earned collect calls. Collect vendor line 1-877-650-4249. Mail: three letters per week at no postage; opened in the youth’s presence; not read unless a court order or security threat. Do not bring gifts except Christmas/birthdays (inspected). This hall is not yet a separate Jail411 handbook route — facts are on this county page and the official Detention Services page.

Does posting bail guarantee release?

Official Bail page: cash (exact amount to “Humboldt Superior Court” — cash, traveler’s checks, money orders, certified checks; no personal or business checks) or a licensed bail bond. The jail will never call you to collect bail. Humboldt Superior Court 2026 Bail Schedule and 2026 Uniform Bail and Penalty Schedules. Confirm custody first. Holds can block release. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6). This is the process, not a bondsman directory.

How do I report a correction?

Use Jail411's contact page and include the page URL plus an official agency source. Do not send private booking documents, medical records, or other sensitive personal information.
