Release and property

Bail, property, and commissary pickup

01Bail

Confirm custody first — then cash or a licensed bond

Confirm custody on Inmate Search or (559) 475-9491, then post cash or a licensed California surety bond. Jail411 does not republish a bondsman directory. Booking holding cells have a bail-agent list. Some people may be cited out; intoxicated holds can last 6 hours or longer. Criminal court: Downtown 1100 Van Ness Avenue, (559) 457-2000; calendar (559) 457-1801; portal publicportal.fresno.courts.ca.gov. Jail Annex Depts 95 & 96 at 1265 M Street are courtrooms, not the visitor lobby. Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a hold applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6).

02Property

Main Jail lobby — ID and inmate approval

Official Money & Property: third-party property (keys, wallet, jewelry — not normally clothing) at the Main Jail lobby with photo ID; inmate approval; 1–2 hours. Oversized bulk property is not accepted at the jail — ask the arresting agency. After release, unused funds and stored property return to the person. Business Office (559) 600-8572; allow 2–3 weeks for refunds.

03After release

Business Office (559) 600-8572 — allow 2–3 weeks

Questions: Sheriff Business Office (559) 600-8572 or Canteen of Fresno (559) 485-8800.

After booking

Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.

Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.

01 Downtown Courthouse

Public portal publicportal.fresno.courts.ca.gov. Unlawful detainer hidden 60 days. Jail cannot release until written court clearance — may take hours after court says released.

Metal detector; extra time. This is not the jail visitor lobby.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
