Different custody systems.
Different places to start.

A Del Norte County arrest usually means the county jail. A state sentence, a federal case or an immigration hold means a different system with its own locator and rules.

Understand jail and prison differences

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

How do I find someone in Del Norte County custody?

Use the official Sheriff CitizenRIMS currently incarcerated list linked on this page. If the person is not listed or the booking is recent, call (707) 464-4191 and ask which facility currently holds them.

Which adult jail should I use?

The guide lists Del Norte County Jail. Use the facility shown in the current custody record, not simply the closest building, and reconfirm before traveling or sending anything.

What should I confirm before visiting?

Official Jail page (checked 2026-09-12) does not publish visiting hours. Visiting is at 650 Fifth Street — call (707) 464-4191 before you drive. 2024–2025 Grand Jury confirms visitation rooms in this jail. Not Pelican Bay, not 450 H Street.

Where should I send mail?

Sheriff Jail page checked 2026-09-12 does not publish an inmate mailing address. Call (707) 464-4191 for the current envelope format. Do not send county-jail mail to Pelican Bay P.O. Box 7500, Alder Camp P.O. Box 906, 450 H Street, 981 H Street, or 1115 Williams Drive.

How do phone calls and commissary money work?

Phone service: no provider was confirmed on the reviewed official pages. Commissary or deposit service: Access Corrections. Confirm the current facility and account type before paying.

Do youth use the adult jail rules?

No. Del Norte Juvenile Hall / Youth Opportunity Center is handled through Del Norte County Probation. Official Juvenile Detention page (checked 2026-09-12): Del Norte Probation currently contracts juvenile detention with Humboldt and Shasta Counties. Youth under 18 are booked at Del Norte County Probation; after parent/guardian notification they may be transported to Humboldt County Juvenile Hall or Shasta County Juvenile Rehabilitation Facility, or released to a parent/guardian. 1115 Williams Drive is the Youth Opportunity Center — a community program for ages 12–17, (707) 464-7243, yoc-programs@dnco.org — not a detention hall and not adult-jail visiting. Family/attorney visit requests for a detained youth: Google form https://forms.gle/2ASVGX1G5wFw6h6bA. Do not use 650 Fifth Street Access Corrections for youth.

Does posting bail guarantee release?

Del Norte Superior Court 2026 Bail and Penalty Schedule (effective January 1, 2026). Before first appearance the Sheriff sets bail from that schedule if there is no warrant amount; after first appearance the judge sets it. Confirm custody first. Holds can block release. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6). This is the process, not a bondsman directory.

How do I report a correction?

Use Jail411's contact page and include the page URL plus an official agency source. Do not send private booking documents, medical records, or other sensitive personal information.
