Approval, ID, and minors

TDOC requires an approved application for every visitor, including children, before admission; applications should be processed within about 30 days and are subject to an NCIC check. The adult guide allows immediate family and up to eight additional visitors. Visitors under 18 generally need an approved parent/legal guardian accompanying them, with the separate minor documentation process.

Current entry and dress rules

A current BCCX-specific ADA accommodation, accessible entrance, parking map, and public-transit procedure was not found. Ask the BCCX desk before the appointment for mobility, medical-device, pregnancy, or child-screening arrangements.

  • Bring photo ID and keys/key fob. Necessary baby supplies are allowed in a clear plastic bag; leave phones, wallets and other electronics secured in your vehicle.
  • Expect security screening/body scanner and possible vehicle search.
  • TDOC prohibits, among other items, transparent, sleeveless, camouflage, torn, spandex, bare-midriff, excessive-jewelry, flip-flop, and steel/composite-toe clothing or footwear; BCCX may add restrictions.

Confirm the current visiting session

Visits are by appointment. TDOC says schedules include weekends and an evening option, but the current BCCX contact listing does not give unit-by-unit visiting times. Ask the desk for your approved session and check-in cutoff before arranging food or lodging.

Phone calls & video

Phone credit, trust-fund deposits, and video are separate services.

Phone accounts

TDOC says inmates cannot receive inbound calls. ConnectNetwork, powered by GTL, provides AdvancePay for calls to a family number and PIN Debit for calls to approved numbers; TDOC describes up to ten approved numbers. For a family emergency, call BCCX and ask for the chaplain.

JPay Video Connect

JPay's official BCCX page lists Video Connect at $12.50 per 30 minutes. Vendor availability does not establish eligibility or a current slot for a particular housing component; confirm before paying.

Mail, photographs & packages

Personal letters, privileged mail, books and packages follow different routes.

Address ordinary personal mail for scanning

TDOC moved personal mail to centralized scanning on November 3, 2025. Include your return name and address and clearly label the identification number TDOC ID#. Photos are scanned too; inappropriate images are not delivered. Reading scanned mail does not cost the recipient anything.

Choose plain cards and permitted photographs

  • Do not enclose Polaroid-type photos, cash, checks or money orders.
  • Avoid homemade items and layered, decorated or musical cards.
  • Do not send original irreplaceable photos: physical personal mail is retained for up to 90 days, then destroyed.

Legal correspondence and books

Privileged correspondence—including attorney and court mail—continues to the institution, not the personal-mail scanning center. Confirm the institution's correct legal-mail addressing with the sender.

Order books and other printed material directly from a publisher or recognized commercial distributor. Check the actual seller: a third-party marketplace seller may not qualify. Material remains subject to the prison's content restrictions.

Approved property and commissary packages

Packages must come from an approved contract vendor, not a box packed at home. Eligibility and quantity depend on custody level and disciplinary restrictions. Confirm eligibility before paying.

The Tennessee Union Supply website now directs TDOC adult and CoreCivic package orders to CorrectPay. Select the correct facility and recipient there; a package order is separate from a JPay trust-account deposit.

Money & commissary

Use the person's correct TDOC name and identification number. Phone credit and package orders are separate from trust-account deposits.

Online, telephone and MoneyGram

JPay's Tennessee deposit form lists online service, the 24-hour telephone line (800) 574-5729 and MoneyGram receive code 6188. Review the recipient, service and final fee before authorizing payment.

Mail a money order to JPay—not the prison

Make the money order payable to JPay and include the completed Tennessee deposit slip. The form requires sender details, a valid email and mailing address, and the recipient's name, ID and institution. Do not include personal letters or notes.

The form lists a $999.99 maximum and no JPay money-order fee. It allows up to ten business days for processing after receipt, in addition to postal travel time. A JPay account is not required for this method.

Keep the payment routes separate

Do not put deposit funds in an ordinary letter to the Phoenix scanning address. Use the current provider's instructions for the service you actually need, and retain the receipt. Jail411 does not accept payments or collect account credentials.

Family concerns & release questions

Use BCCX and TDOC channels for person-specific medical, property, and release questions.

Health or family emergency

TDOC's public health page describes medical, mental-health, dental, vision, orientation, and release-care-plan services but does not publish a BCCX family medical-reporting number. Call BCCX's main line and ask for the chaplain or responsible staff member; do not send private medical records to Jail411.

Property and release planning

No current BCCX-specific official public procedure was found for release-property pickup, family property drop-off, or release-day coordination. Contact the institution before traveling; visitation approval does not itself authorize property collection.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
