Clark County custody directory
Find the person. Then make the right call.
Every arrest in Clark County ends up in the Sheriff’s jail on East Court Avenue — whether Jeffersonville, Clarksville or Charlestown police made it, or the Sheriff did. Start with the official custody search, then call the jail to confirm the booking and the bond.
Clark County posts no roster of its own. The statewide search runs on a delay, so on the first day the jail phone is the faster answer.
Who controls the next step
Several agencies arrest here. One Sheriff holds everybody.
Jeffersonville, Clarksville, Charlestown and Sellersburg police, the Sheriff, and Indiana State Police all make arrests in Clark County. Whoever made the arrest, an adult ends up in the Sheriff’s jail on East Court Avenue. What changes is who answers your question at each stage.
- 01The arrest happens
A city department or the Sheriff makes the arrest. In the first hours the person may not be in the jail record yet — call dispatch at 812-246-6996 if SAVIN shows nothing.
- 02Booking at the county jail
The Sheriff books the person into the Clark County Jail. This is where custody questions get answered: call 812-283-4471.
- 03Bond is set by the court
Not by the jail. Indiana has no published county bail schedule — a judge sets the amount. Cash-only bonds are paid to the Clerk of Courts, not at the jail window.
- 04The case goes to a Circuit Court
Clark County runs four Circuit Courts. Look the case up on Indiana MyCase to find out which one, before you call anybody.
Custody locations in Clark County
One adult jail. One juvenile centre. That is the whole county.
Clark County is not a multi-jail county. If an adult is in custody locally, they are at the Becher complex. A minor is held separately and does not appear on the adult custody search.

After you know they are in custody
Money, visits and mail each run through a different door.
Clark County uses outside vendors for money and visits, and its own mailroom rules for anything printed. None of these are the Sheriff’s phone line — sending the right thing to the wrong place is the usual delay.
Court dates and bond
Four Circuit Courts. Find the case before you pick a number.
Clark County runs four Circuit Courts out of the Judicial Center on East Court Avenue. Which one holds the case decides who can answer about hearings — and the court, not the jail, sets bond.

Cash or surety and court cash bonds are collected twenty four hours a day, seven days a week. Cash only bonds must be paid directly to the Clerk of Courts. Indiana bond is set by the court, so there is no published county bail schedule.
Match the question to the office that can actually answer it.
Most of these share the 501 East Court Avenue building, but they are separate offices with separate authority. The jail cannot answer a charging question and the Prosecutor cannot release anybody.

After release
County probation and state parole are not the same office.
Clark County Probation and Community Corrections supervise people sentenced locally. State parole for anyone released from an Indiana prison is run by the Department of Correction from Madison — a different town and a different agency.

Not Clark County jail custody
Other systems, and one place people still call.
State prison, federal custody and immigration detention use different locators and different agencies. One local facility is no longer in service at all.
