Before you leave home

Three things to confirm before the trip.

South County is the only Tulare jail with on-site video. Confirm they are housed here, then book ICSolutions at least one day ahead. Check in five minutes early for on-site video with required ID.

  1. 01Confirm custody

    Use the Sheriff inmate search.

Bob Wiley, Adult Pre-Trial, and South County are three different doors. The generated directory still lists Men’s Correctional Facility and Main Jail as open jails — they are not family destinations.

  2. 02Book video

ICSolutions, 1 day to 1 week ahead.

On-site video Sunday–Saturday 7:45 a.m.–3:40 p.m. Two free 30-minute on-site visits per week, plus up to two paid on-site visits per week and two paid internet visits per day — only for people housed here.

  3. 03Bring the right ID

    U.S. photo ID only.

Accepted: U.S. driver’s licence, U.S. ID card, U.S. active military ID, U.S. resident card, U.S. passport, U.S. government-issued photo ID. Not accepted: Matrícula Consular, Mexico voter card, school ID, non-U.S. ID, Indian Reservation ID, expired ID, photocopies.

01 / Visiting

South County Detention Facility visiting hours.

On-site video is South County only, 7:45 a.m.–3:40 p.m. daily. Internet video is also available here, 7:45 a.m.–10:30 p.m., $7.50 / 30 minutes. The Sheriff visiting-hours page still lists Men’s Correctional Facility and Main Jail. That page is stale. Do not use those schedules.

Do not assume

These details are not published.

Ask the jail before setting out. Jail411 will not guess at a rule that could cause a missed visit.

  • A Pigeonly routing code for South County
  • A Pigeonly routing code for Adult Pre-Trial or South County
  • A Tulare felony bail schedule on the court website
  • A Tulare County CDCR parole street office
Ask the visiting desk

Inmate mail

South County Detention Facility inmate mail address.

Use the inmate-mail address below. Include the person’s name and booking number, and add your full return address.

Use this exact inmate-mail route

Mailing address

IP NAME AND ID#PO BOX 96777LAS VEGAS NV 89193

Do not mail the Porterville street. Adult letters go to Pigeonly. Packages go to 36714 Road 112, Visalia — not Porterville.

Generally allowed
  • Letters through Pigeonly to PO Box 96777, Las Vegas NV 89193
  • Packages to 36714 Road 112, Visalia, CA 93291 with first name, last name, and ID number
  • Books, newspapers, and magazines sent directly by the publisher
Do not send
  • Ordinary inmate letters mailed to 1960 W. Scranton Ave. — the Sheriff says mail sent to the facilities will be returned
  • Inventing a Pigeonly facility code. Only BWDF-1800 is published, and that line is Bob Wiley’s example
  • Sexually explicit material, materials that advocate violence, or other items rejected under 15 CCR 1066

The Sheriff’s published example uses BWDF-1800 for Bob Wiley. No routing code is published for South County. Do not guess one.

Postage when someone has no money: Pigeonly screens adult mail. Juvenile mail is a different rule and does not use this box.

Money and commissary

How to send money to South County Detention Facility.

The published deposit route is Access Corrections. Confirm the person is still housed here and keep the booking number ready before depositing.

  1. 01

    Online at accesscorrections.com (fees vary).

  2. 02

Access Corrections app (App Store / Google Play), Mastercard and Visa.

  3. 03

    Phone 1-866-345-1884.

  4. 04

Lobby kiosk — requires an Access Corrections account login. Cash is accepted at the kiosk.

Release and property

Bail, property, and commissary pickup

01Bail

Ask this jail

A Tulare felony bail schedule is not on the reviewed court pages. Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a probation, parole, or out-of-county hold applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6). This is the process, not a bondsman directory. Ask South County at (559) 782-7800.

02Personal property

Not published

Property-release steps are not published on the reviewed Sheriff pages. Call (559) 782-7800.

03After release

Not published

After-release commissary pickup is not published. Call (559) 782-7800.

After booking

Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.

Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.

01 Assigned courthouse

Confirm on the case record

Confirm the assigned courthouse on the case record. The Pretrial courtroom at 36650 Road 112 is closed to the public; hearings there are remote. Visalia Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. Porterville (559) 782-3700. Dinuba (559) 595-6400 is closed Tuesday and Friday.

Case search: online.tulare.courts.ca.gov. Do not treat 1960 W. Scranton as a courthouse — that is South County Detention Facility.

(559) 730-5000

02 Appointed counsel

Ask at first appearance

The judge appoints the Public Defender.

Visalia Courthouse, 221 S Mooney Blvd, RM G-35. Porterville 20 N. Main St 2nd Floor, (559) 782-6960. Juvenile Room 103, (559) 735-1435.

(559) 636-4500

03 County supervision

Probation is not parole

A probation hold can block release after bail.

Headquarters Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. Adult (559) 608-9035. Not CDCR parole.

(559) 608-9035

04 State parole, not county

No Tulare unit published

CDCR regional directories list no Tulare County unit. Nearest: Fresno 5060 E. Clinton Way, (559) 253-4144, and Bakersfield 3416-A Sillect Ave, (661) 634-9620. State parole is not Tulare County Probation. Report to the office named in the release papers.

Common questions

South County Detention Facility FAQ.

If a rule changes, confirm with the jail or the agency that published it.

Where do I send mail?
Adult letters go to Pigeonly, PO Box 96777, Las Vegas NV 89193. No routing code is published for this jail. Do not mail 1960 W. Scranton Ave. Packages go to 36714 Road 112, Visalia — not Porterville.
Can I visit on site?
Yes. South County is the only Tulare jail with on-site video, 7:45 a.m.–3:40 p.m. daily. Check in five minutes early with U.S. photo ID. Internet video is also available.
Is 1960 W. Scranton the courthouse?
No. This is the jail. Porterville courthouse is 300 E. Olive. JailExchange listed this street on Bob Wiley — that was this facility, misfiled.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
