Before you leave home

Three things to confirm before the trip.

Social visits are scheduled only by the inmate. Confirm the person is at Martinez Detention Facility — West County and Marsh Creek are different buildings with different hours.

  1. 01Confirm Martinez

Search the In-Custody Locator or call (925) 335-4600.

The roster must show this jail. If the person is at West County or WRTH, use 5555 Giant Highway, Richmond. If Marsh Creek, use 12000 Marsh Creek Road, Clayton. If Juvenile Hall, use 202 Glacier Drive — not this door.

  2. 02The inmate books the visit

You cannot schedule the social visit yourself on a public kiosk page.

Official Visiting an Inmate (Wayback, checked 2026-09-12): social visits will be scheduled only by the inmates. The visitor must be on the inmate’s visiting list. Arrive 30 minutes before the scheduled time with a completed visitor form and accepted photo ID.

  3. 03Arrive at 901 Court Street

Not 1020 Ward Street (Bray Courthouse) and not 725 Court Street (Wakefield Taylor clerk).

Bring accepted government photo ID. Leave phones, bags, purses, food, and extra items in the car or a lobby locker. No contact. Cell phones and recording devices are prohibited in visiting areas.

Release and property

Bail, property, and commissary pickup

01Bail

Search first, then cash or a licensed bond — Criminal Division is 725 Court Street

Confirm the person is still here on the In-Custody Locator or (925) 335-4600. Post cash or a licensed bail bond — Jail411 does not republish a bondsman directory. Superior Court Criminal Division clerk Monday–Friday 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., (925) 608-1000. 2026 felony and misdemeanor bail schedules effective July 8, 2026 are on contracosta.courts.ca.gov/divisions/criminal. Custody Alternative Facility (sentenced work alternative / electronic home detention) is 1011 Las Juntas Street, (925) 313-4260, Monday–Friday 7:00 a.m.–5:30 p.m. — not walk-in bail. Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a probation, parole, or out-of-county hold applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful California hold (Gov. Code § 7284.6).

02Property

Call (925) 335-4600 — pickup window not on the live Custody HTML

Not printed as a property-release window on the reviewed Custody HTML. Call (925) 335-4600. Do not mail cash.

After booking

Court, a lawyer, probation, and parole.

Court, counsel, and probation are separate from the jail. State parole is a different agency. This is the process a family actually has to walk—not a directory of private bondsmen or attorneys.

Clear information.
Clear boundaries.

Jail411 is an independent information resource for families and friends. We are not a government agency, jail operator, law firm or live custody-records service.

Can Jail411 tell me if someone is in custody right now?

No. Jail411 does not hold live custody records. Use the official locator for the county, state, federal or ICE system that has the person; start here if you do not know which.

Does posting bond mean the person comes home?

Not always. A probation or parole hold, another county's warrant or an immigration detainer can keep someone in custody after bond is posted. Ask the jail what holds are on the booking before you pay.

What should I confirm before visiting?

The person's current facility, the visiting schedule, approval requirements, accepted identification and arrival instructions. Check the facility page and its official sources before you travel.

What if I find something that needs correcting?

Send us the page and the detail that needs attention. Include the official source when you have one. Do not send private booking documents or other sensitive personal information.
