Different places to start.

A Butte County arrest usually means the county jail. A state sentence, a federal case or an immigration hold means a different system with its own locator and rules.

How do I find someone in Butte County custody?

The reviewed official sources do not provide a public name-search link. Call (530) 552-1600 and ask which facility currently holds the person.

Which adult jail should I use?

The guide lists Butte County Jail. Use the facility shown in the current custody record, not simply the closest building, and reconfirm before traveling or sending anything.

What should I confirm before visiting?

Two 45-minute visits per week, one Saturday and one Sunday. Arrive 45 minutes early. Housing-unit start times are on the Main Jail and Expansion Jail (NORA) PDFs. Convicted felons need written Jail Administrator permission.

Where should I send mail?

Adult jail inmate mail is 7 Gillick Way. The Sheriff Contact page lists the Sheriff's Office at 5 Gillick Way. Do not mix them. Do not send youth mail here — Juvenile Hall is 41 County Center Drive.

How do phone calls and commissary money work?

Phone service: ICSolutions. Commissary or deposit service: Butte County Packages / Access Corrections. Confirm the current facility and account type before paying.

Do youth use the adult jail rules?

No. Butte County Juvenile Hall is handled through Butte County Probation. Probation youth detention at 41 County Center Drive. Capacity 60. Not the adult jail. Do not use 7 Gillick Way mail, Access Corrections money, or Saturday/Sunday adult visiting rules.

Does posting bail guarantee release?

The jail accepts cash, money orders, cashier's checks, or a bond from a licensed bail bondsman. Cashier's checks and money orders must be made out to the specific court the person is bailing out of. Posting a bond does not guarantee release if a probation, parole, or out-of-county hold applies. An ICE detainer alone is not a lawful hold in California (Gov. Code § 7284.6).

How do I report a correction?

Use Jail411's contact page and include the page URL plus an official agency source. Do not send private booking documents, medical records, or other sensitive personal information.
